A stable CS-FEM for the static and seismic stability of a single square tunnel in the soil where the shear strength increases linearly with depth

A numerical procedure using a stable cell-based smoothed finite element method(CS-FEM)is presented for estimation of stability of a square tunnel in the soil where the shear strength increases linearly with *** kinematically admissible displacement fields are approximated by uniform quadrilateral elements in conjunction with the strain smoothing technique,eliminating volumetric locking issues and the singularity associated with the MohreCoulomb ***,a rich set of simulations was performed to compute the static stability of a square tunnel with different geometries and soil *** presented results are in excellent agreement with the upper and lower bound solutions using the standard finite element method(FEM).The stability charts and tables are given for practical use in the tunnel design,along with a newly proposed formulation for predicting the undrained stability of a single square ***,the seismic stability number was computed using the present numerical *** results reveal that the seismic stability number reduces with an increasing value of the horizontal seismic acceleration(a_(h)),for both cases of the weightless soil and the soil with unit ***,the link between the static and seismic stability numbers is described using corrective factors that represent reductions in the tunnel stability due to seismic *** is shown from the numerical results that the corrective factor becomes larger as the unit weight of soil mass increases;however,the degree of the reduction in seismic stability number tends to reduce for the case of the homogeneous ***,this advanced numerical procedure is straightforward to extend to three-dimensional(3D)limit analysis and is readily applicable for the calculation of the stability of tunnels in highly anisotropic and heterogeneous soils which are often encountered in practice.

The effects of low energy X-ray irradiation on microbial inactivation,sprouting inhibition and genetic variation were *** was an inverse correlation between the exposure dose in range of 0 Gy–5000 Gy and the survival rate of *** dose of 1000 Gy seemed to be suitable for inactivation of microorganisms because the respective survival rate is relatively low (0.59%).Dose rate of 13.87 Gy/min was the most appropriate to inactivate the microorganisms,with the survival rate of 0.37%.Applying the irradiation dose of 1000 Gy and dose rate of 13.87 Gy/min,there was a significant sprouting inhibition of irradiated potatoes compared to the control for six months *** effect of irradiation dose (100–1200 Gy) and dose rate (8.63–19.62 Gy/min) on genetic variation of the irradiated samples was assessed by DNA fingerprints induced from using three molecular techniques including Random Amplified Polymorphic DNA (RAPD),Start Codon Targeted Polymorphism (SCoT) and CAAT box – derived polymorphism (CBDP).At the irradiation dose of 1000 Gy and dose rate of 13.87 Gy/min,the level of genetic variation was relatively low (4.85%).Thus,this treatment is a suitable condition of irradiation for potato treatment with the purpose of preservation.

The International Maritime Organization has been promoting energy-efficient operational measures to reduce ships'bunker fuel consumption and the accompanying emissions,including speed optimization,trim optimization,weather routing,and the virtual arrival *** theoretical foundation of these measures is a model that can accurately forecast a ship's bunker fuel consumption rate according to its sailing speed,displacement/draft,trim,weather conditions,and sea *** report is an important data source for ship fuel efficiency modeling but its information quality on weather and sea conditions is limited by a snapshotting practice with eye *** overcome this issue,this study develops a solution to fuse voyage report data and publicly accessible meteorological data and constructs nine datasets based on this data fusion *** widelyadopted machine learning models were tested over these datasets for eight 8100-TEU to 14,000-TEU containerships from a global shipping *** best datasets found reveal the benefits of fusing voyage report data and meteorological data,as well as the practically acceptable quality of voyage report *** randomized trees(ET),AdaBoost(AB),Gradient Tree Boosting(GB)and XGBoost(XG)present the best fit and generalization *** R^(2) values over the best datasets are all above 0.96 and even reach 0.99 to 1.00 for the training set,and 0.74 to 0.90 for the test *** fit errors on daily bunker fuel consumption are usually between 0.5 and 4.0 ton/*** models have good interpretability in explaining the relative importance of different determinants to a ship's fuel consumption rate.

In this paper,two lifting mechanism models with opposing placements,which use the same hydraulic hoist model and have the same angle of 50°,have been *** mechanical and hydraulic simulation models are established using MATLAB Simscape to analyze their kinetics and dynamics in the lifting and holding *** simulation findings are compared to the analytical calculation results in the steady state,and both methods show good *** the early lifting stage,Model 1 produces greater force and discharges goods in the container faster than Model ***,Model 2 reaches a higher force and ejects goods from the container cleaner than its counterpart at the end lifting *** established simulation models can consider the effects of dynamic loads due to inertial moments and forces generated during the system *** is crucial in studying,designing,and optimizing the structure of hydraulic-mechanical systems.

Biotic and abiotic factors control aboveground biomass(AGB)and the structure of forest *** study analyses the variation of AGB and stand structure of evergreen broadleaved forests among six ecoregions of Vietnam.A data set of 1731-ha plots from 52 locations in undisturbed old-growth forests was *** results indicate that basal area and AGB are closely correlated with annual precipitation,but not with annual temperature,evaporation or hours of *** area and AGB are positively correlated with trees>30 cm *** areas surveyed(52.6%)in these old-growth forests had AGB of 100–200 Mg ha^-1;5.2%had AGB of 400–500 Mg ha^-1,and 0.6%had AGB of>800 Mg ha^-*** percent of the areas surveyed had stand densities of 300–600 ***^-1,and 64%had basal areas of 20–40 m^2 ha^-*** is an important factor influencing the AGB of old-growth,evergreen broadleaved forests in *** causing the loss of large-diameter trees(e.g.,>100 cm DBH)affects AGB but may not seriously affect stand density.

Adaptive Gaussian Noise Image Removal Algorithm Using Filtering-Based Noise Estimation

This paper proposes a spatially denoising algorithm using filtering-based noise estimation for an image corrupted by Gaussian *** proposed algorithm consists of two stages:estimation and elimination of noise *** adaptively deal with variety of the noise amount,a noisy input image is firstly filtered by a lowpass *** deviation of the noise is computed from different images between the noisy input and its filtered *** addition,a modified Gaussian noise removal filter based on the local statistics such as local weighted mean,local weighted activity and local maximum is used to control the degree of noise *** show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Vietnamese final stop consonants/p, t, k/described in terms of formant transition slopes

It is well known that both bursts and formant transitions serve as separate cues to the place of articulation of initial stop consonants. In Vietnamese, final voiceless stop consonants/p, t, k/are unreleased （i.e., produced without an audible burst）. This provides an opportunity to study these final stop consonants and to compare their characteristics with those of the corresponding initial stop consonants. As unreleased final consonants have not been previously studied, this paper analyses the Vowel-Consonant （VC） and Consonant-Vowel-Consonant （CVC） productions in terms of the transition duration, the starting formant transition values and the slopes of the VC transitions. Measurements have shown that in the same preceding vowel contexts, the 3 final stop consonants/p, t, k/are always clearly differentiated by at least one of the 3 slopes of Fl, F2 or F3. In perception tests, synthesized consonant C in the context/a/-C are recognized as/p/, or/t/, or/k/when the slopes of the/a/-C transition ofF2 and F3 are varied. It means that slopes of the VC transition are an important parameter that allows Vietnamese distinguishing the 3 final voiceless stop consonant/p, t, k/in Vietnamese language. These final stop consonants can also be differentiated in the locus equation space. The study also pointes out that the effects of the final consonants on either long vowels or short vowels. The results explain why Vietnamese can not pronounce the short vowels in isolation.

近年来随着越南社会与经济的快速増长,工农业的飞速发展带来了显著的城镇化发展,在城镇化发展水平不断提升的过程中开始逐渐爆发大量的城市的交通问题如交通拥堵、交通故事、交通环境污染等。越南首都河内市,是国家政治与文化中心,也是越南北部经济三角中最重要的城市,因此经济繁荣发展,但城市化进程迅速但是也带来了许多交通问题,特别的是,发生在交通高峰期信号交叉口的交通拥堵问题,导致了交叉口的通行能力的降低,增加了交通流通行时间。遇到这些问题是由于道路设施和公共交通发展不满足居民出行需求,而汽车、摩托车数量增长较快,同时交通管理和交通组织不足,使河内交叉口交通问题已成为热点。本文从混合交通流的特点出发,主要以越南首都河内市交叉口交通的问题为研究对象,首先采用定性方法来分析河内市交通组织中存在的问题,注重信号灯交叉口。其次,根据河内市交通组织现状与特征分析的结果,借鉴在中国西南交通大学所学习掌握到的交通组织的先进知识,国际城市交通组织经验以及交通领域学者的研究成就应用于解决越南首都河内市信号灯交叉口的交通问题。主要包括以下三方面内容:(1)论文分析城市信号交叉口混合交通与交通冲突特征以及交通组织的相关基础理论。(2)以越南河内市为例,本文分析目前河内市道路交通网络形状和交叉口交通组织状况及其存在问题。(3)针对河内市关键信号交叉口进行调查与分析,并基于Vissim仿真软件的交叉口交通组织优化。结果表明本文所提的交通组织方案比现状方案更合理。
