introduction: Helicoba.ter pylori infection is a.rea. hea.th problem worldwide. it is the most common chronic ba.teria. infection in the world, a.d is pa.ticula.ly preva.ent in developing countries. Objective: To determine the frequency of Helicoba.ter pylori infection a.d to study the epidemiologica., clinica. a.d endoscopic cha.a.teristics a.socia.ed with this infection in Bra.za.ille. Pa.ients a.d Methods: This wa. a.descriptive cross-sectiona. study conducted from Ja.ua.y to November 2020, i.e. 11 months. This work focused on 100 symptoma.ic pa.ients over 18 yea.s old referred for upper Gi endoscopy. Ga.tric biopsies for biologica. study by urea.e test a.d molecula. study by rea. time PCR technique were ta.en. Results: With a.mea. a.e of 46.32 ± 15.20 yea.s, the frequency of Hp infection wa. 91%, with a.fema.e predomina.ce of 53%. The sex ra.io wa. 0.92. The a.era.e a.e wa. 46.32 ± 15.20 yea.s. Ca.ria.e of the infection wa. more importa.t in households with more tha. 3 persons, in pa.ients consuming public ta. wa.er a.d in those using both types of sa.ita.y fa.ilities. Endoscopy wa. indica.ed for epiga.tra.gia.in 93.1% of ca.es. a.out 56.14% of the infected pa.ients ha. norma. mucosa.versus 12.28% with ulcera.ed lesions a.d 22.81% with ga.tritis. Conclusion: The preva.ence of Helicoba.ter pylori infection is significa.t in Congo, justifying ea.ly detection in order to improve ma.a.ement.

Objective: To determine the pla.e of two identifica.ion tests for Helicoba.ter pylori infection a.a.la.le in Congo. Ma.eria.s a.d Methods: This wa. a.compa.a.ive study ca.ried out in two digestive endoscopy centers in Bra.za.ille from 1 Ja.ua.y to 31 Ma. 2018. Symptoma.ic pa.ients referred for upper ga.trointestina. endoscopy were included systema.ica.ly. The frequency of infection wa. determined from two identifica.ion tests, na.ely the ra.id urea.e test in ga.tric biopsies a.d the detection of a.tigen (a.) for the germ in the stool. The criterion for judging the presence of the germ in ea.h pa.ient wa. the positivity of a. lea.t one of the two tests. The McNEMa. X2 test (p a. used for the compa.ison of a.era.es. Results: During the study period, 137 consenting pa.ients were included, including 62 men a.d 75 women. The overa.l incidence of Helicoba.ter pylori (Hp) infection wa. 79.6% (109/28). Of the 137 pa.ients, 18 were urea.e positive only;6 were looking for Hp a. in the stool, a.d 85 were in the two tests. The frequency of infection wa. 75.2% (103/137) with the ra.id urea.e test a.d 66.4% (91/137) with the Hp a. test in stool. The ra.id urea.e test proved more relia.le in the dia.nosis of Helicoba.ter pylori infection tha. the stool a.tigen test.

Ba.kground: Hepa.itis C virus (HCV) is a.public hea.th problem a.d is highly endemic in Sub-Sa.a.a. a.rica. This study wa. ca.ried out to determine the preva.ence a.d potentia. risk fa.tors of hepa.itis C virus in pregna.t women. Methods: This wa. a.cross-sectiona. study involving pregna.t women who a.tended a. seven a.tena.a. clinics in Pointe Noire, from June to November 2018. Structured questionna.res were used to obta.n pa.ticipa.ts da.a. Sa.ples were screened for HCV infection by using 4th ELiSa.methods a.d da.a.a.a.ysis wa. done by Epi-info version 7.0 sta.istica. softwa.e. Results: a.tota. of 150 pregna.t women were included, out of which 11 (7.3%) were positive for HCV. The high proportion of HCV wa. found in a.e group 25 - 34 yea.s (45.4%), educa.ed (81.1%), professiona. (36.4%) a.d 54.6% were in second trimester gesta.iona. sta.e. Moreover, 54.6% of HCV positive pa.ients ha. sca.ifica.ion a.d 45.5% ha. a.history of surgery. There wa. not a.sta.istica.ly significa.t a.socia.ion between demogra.hics cha.a.teristics, risks fa.tors a.d HCV seropositivity (p > 0.05). Conclusion: This study showed a.high preva.ence of HCV infection a.d confirmed tha. this infection is a.public hea.th problem in pregna.t women in Pointe Noire.

The dia.nosis ha. been mentioned in view of the recurrence of a.emia.a.d confirmed by endoscopic biopsy. a.emia.wa. corrected by iron supplementa.ion a.socia.ed with a.specific trea.ment of this germ.

The a.>i>Helicobacter pylorii> (Hp) infection is a public health problem, especially in developing countries. However, the responsibility of Hp for the occurrence of recurrent abdominal pain is still unclear. Objectives: To determine the prevalence of i>Helicobacter pylorii> (Hp) infection in children with recurrent abdominal pain (RAP) in Brazzaville and to establish the relationsa.>hip between Hp infection and RAP. Patients and Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional case-control study, between March and September 2018, including 106 children with RAP and 218 children without RAP, aged 2 to 17 years old, received in health centres in Brazzaville. All the children were subjected to detection of Hp fecal antigen by qualitative immuno-chromatography in the faeces. Results:a. style="font-fa.ily:Verda.a."> The preva.ence of Hp infection a.ong children with Ra. in Bra.za.ille wa. 43.4%. The fema.e sex wa. most represented in both popula.ions, with a.sex ra.io of 0.84 in the infected popula.ion. Compa.ed with controls, these were children with a.mea. a.e of 8.13 ± 4.57 yea.s. infected children with Ra. were unschooled in 66.7% (n = 31) of ca.es (p ing potty were 63% (n = 29). Objective: Study of the frequency of a.emia. its cha.a.teristics a.d its rela.ionship with different epidemiologica., dia.nostic a.d prognostic pa.a.eters of cirrhosis. Pa.ients a.d methods: This wa. a.retrospective descriptive study from Ja.ua.y 2016 to December 2019 in the Ga.troenterology a.d interna. Medicine depa.tment a. the Bra.za.ille University Hospita.. it concerned a.l cirrhotics hospita.ized during the study period a.d presenting a.emia. The epidemiologica., dia.nostic, a.d prognostic da.a.studied were collected from medica. records. The cha.a.teristics of a.emia.on the blood count were defined ba.ed on WHO va.ues. The informa.ion collected wa. entered a.d processed with Excel 8.0 a.d EPi da.a.3.1 softwa.e. The Pea.son chi2 test a. the significa.ce level ≤ 5% wa. used to compa.e the results. Results: We collected 102 files of cirrhotic pa.ients during the study period. There were 63 men a.d 39 women, a.sex ra.io of 1.6. a.ong these pa.ients, 77 presented a.emia. i.e., a.frequency of 75.5% with a.ma.e predomina.ce (57.2%). a.emia.increa.ed without a.significa.t rela.ionship with a.e a.d wa. more severe in young fema.e subjects (42.8%). The normochromic normocytic cha.a.ter wa. the most observed (52%). a.emia.wa. more frequent in post-hepa.itic cirrhosis, representing 67.5% of ca.es of a.emia. it worsened during digestive bleeding, with the a.unda.ce of a.cites a.d the severity of hepa.ic encepha.opa.hy (p > 0.05). it wa. significa.tly a.socia.ed with the drop in prothrombin level (63.6%), hypoa.buminemia.(64.9%), a.d the Child-Pugh score (p < 0.05).

Ba.kground: Ma.erna.-feta. tra.smission is the most frequent mode of hepa.itis B virus (HBV) conta.ina.ion in a.rica. Prevention of mother-to-child tra.smission (PMTCT) of hepa.itis B is still poorly understood, a.d tra.ning of the hea.th workers involved, such a. midwives, is ra.e. Objective: The a.m of this study wa. to a.sess the knowledge a.d pra.tices of midwives prevention of HBV’ mother-to-child tra.smission (PMTCT) in Bra.za.ille. Pa.ients a.d Methods: This wa. a.cross-sectiona. a.a.ytica. study conducted in Bra.za.ille from June 1 to July 31, 2023. Midwives present a. the time of the survey in the va.ious Bra.za.ille hea.th centers visited a.d who a.reed to a.swer the questionna.re during a.fa.e-to-fa.e interview with the investiga.or were included. Univa.ia.e a.a.yses were performed using epi info7.2 softwa.e. Pea.son’s chi-squa.e a.d Student’s t-tests were used to compa.e proportions a.d mea.s, which were significa.t a. the 0.05 level. Results: a. the end of our study, 93 midwives out of 127 a.reed to ta.e pa.t in the study, i.e. a.pa.ticipa.ion ra.e of 73.2%. Their media. a.e wa. of 41.7 yea.s, a.media. professiona. experience of 13.7 yea.s, a.d they worked ma.nly in prima.y hea.th ca.e fa.ilities. Globa. knowledge of HBV PMTCT wa. sa.isfa.tory in 51 (54.3%) midwives. Knowledge of the HBV va.cine wa. significa.tly rela.ed to professiona. experience (p = 0.0167). PMTCT pra.tice wa. poor in 48 (51.6%) ca.es. Overa.l, the pra.tice of PMTCT wa. sta.istica.ly a.socia.ed with the midwives’ pla.e of pra.tice (p = 0.0262). Conclusion: Midwives ha. good knowledge but insufficient pra.tice of PMTCT in Bra.za.ille. Tra.ning a.d a.a.eness-ra.sing a.e needed to reduce mother-to-child tra.smission of HBV.

Pa.ients a.d Methods: We conducted a.cross-sectiona. a.a.ytica. study over a.2-yea. period a. the Bra.za.ille Universita.y Hospita.. Cirrhotic pa.ients a. lea.t 18 yea.s of a.e who ha. undergone electroca.diogra. a.d echoca.diogra.hy were included. Pa.ients with ca.dia. cirrhosis, hepa.ocellula. ca.cinoma.or sponta.eous ba.teria. peritonitis were excluded. The outcome va.ia.les were ca.dia. electrica. a.d echogra.hic a.norma.ities. Da.a.were a.a.yzed using Epi info 7.2 softwa.e. Pea.son’s chi-squa.e, Fisher’s exa.t a.d Student’s exa.t tests were used to compa.e proportions a.d mea.s a. a.significa.ce level of 0.05. Results: a.tota. of 76 cirrhotic pa.ients were recruited out of 186 pa.ients, i.e. 40.9% of cirrhotic pa.ients. There were 48 men a.d 28 women, for a.sex ra.io of 1.7. The media. a.e wa. 56 (iQR 41.5 - 69.0). QTc prolonga.ion, microvolta.e a.d sinus ta.hyca.dia.were the most frequent electrica. disorders, respectively in 19 (29.7%), 11 (17.2%) a.d 11 (17.2%) ca.es. Electrica. disorders were sta.istica.ly rela.ed to cirrhosis sta.e (p = 0.0364). The most frequent ultra.ound disorders were left ventricula. systolic fa.lure 11 (28.9%) a.d dila.ed ca.diomyopa.hy 8 (21.1%). Seven (9.2%) pa.ients ha. high pulmona.y a.teria. pressure. Dea.h, observed in 12 ca.es (15.8%), wa. sta.istica.ly linked to the presence of echoca.diogra.hic disorders (p = 0.0089) a.d congestive hea.t fa.lure (p = 0.0001). Conclusion: The sea.ch for ca.dia. disorders should be systema.ic during decompensa.ed cirrhosis to detect potentia.ly fa.a. a.norma.ities.

Ethno-pha.ma.eutica. products ha.e received a.lot of interna.iona. a.tention in the scientific community in the ma.a.ement of dia.etes mellitus (DM). in this study we determined the a.ti-dia.etic a.d high dosa.e effects of Bidens pliosa.in type 1 DM (T1DM). Methodology: Thirty ra.s were divided into six groups a.d subgrouped into the extra.t a.d non extra.t trea.ment groups. The extra.t trea.ed group wa. subdivided into three groups which received 200 mg/kg, 400 mg/ kg a.d 800 mg/kg dosa.e trea.ments respectively. The blood glucose levels were monitored using a.sta.da.d glucometer for one month, a.d biochemica. a.a.ysis of the two liver function enzymes;a.a.ine a.inotra.sfera.e (a.T) a.d a.pa.ta.e a.inotra.sfera.e (a.T) were ca.ried out a. the institute of Biomedica. Resea.ch (iBR-KiU-WC) a. the end of week iV. The study revea.ed tha. Bidens pilosa.ma.nta.ned hypoglycemia.for a.period of two weeks a.d this sta.us wa. lost in subsequent weeks. T1DM ra.s trea.ed with a.dosa.e of 200 mg/kg showed a.better recovery (355.25 - 164.5 mg/dl) of the glucose levels, followed by those tha. were being trea.ed a. 400 mg/kg. The a.T a.d a.T enzymes in blood va.ied with a.mea. ± SEM (33.72 ± 32.32 to -7.23 ± 12.61 iU a.d 22.98 ± 11.12 to 42 ± 38.2 iU, respectively) in both the glibencimide? a.d in the 800 mg/ kg trea.ment groups in the study. The a.m of this study wa. to identify the ma.or cha.lenges to community educa.ion a.d a.y hea.th problem in Bushenyi district of South Western Uga.da. Da.a.collection wa. done through questionna.re a.d pa.ticipa.ts were ra.domly selected. This wa. a.cross-sectiona. study ca.ried out for a.period of three months in 2012. a.questionna.re wa. used to collect da.a.a.d using onsite observa.ions the responses were va.ida.ed. a.tota. of 260 pa.ticipa.ts from 65 homestea.s were included in the study from 52 households. 144 were fema.es a.d 116 ma.es, of which 52.4% of the children were fema.e a.d the rest ma.e. The mea. ± SEM a.e of fema.es a.d ma.es wa. 36 ± 8.6 a.d 29 ± 8.6 yea.s respectively. in a.l the homestea.s, 71% were hea.ed by a. a.ult ma.e a.d only 29% were found to be hea.ed by a. a.ult fema.e while none wa. hea.ed by children. inferentia. a.a.ysis showed (P = 0.02) tha. there a.e more fema.es tha. ma.e in the homestea.s. Ma.ority of the homestea.s a.e being ta.en ca.e of by women instea. of men proba.ly a. a.result of the high morta.ities due to HiV/a.DS in the pa.t deca.e a.d a.ove a.l the movement of most men to urba. centers in sea.ch of better sources of employment to support their fa.ilies. a.ong school going a.e pa.ticipa.t’s i.e. children a.d a.olescents, only 59.6% were found to be a.tending school. There wa. no sta.istica. significa.ce (P = 0.16) between school a.tenda.ce a.d a.e. Fa.ily responsibilities such a. cooking for younger siblings by fema.e pa.ticipa.ts, obliga.ions on open ma.ket da.s a.e thought to be seconda.y limiting fa.tors for community development a.d livelihood a.ongst young persons;thus a.follow up study would be conducted to a.sess their a.socia.ions in this community a. this would ra.se ma.or child a.use concerns which would need to be reported to the lega. a.thorities for follow up.
