Hydrokinetic energy is a promising technology to harness predictable renewable energy from free-flowing water,tides and ocean *** studies have been conducted by researchers and engineers to find out ways to enhance the performance of the hydrokinetic *** current paper reports the experimental study of using hydrophobic coating as an alternative way to improve the performance of hydrokinetic turbine.A hydrophobic coating can lower the friction drag of a surface that is in contact with *** hydrokinetic turbine blade,reduction in friction drag may allow a blade section to have a better lift/drag ratio and have its efficiency *** this study,a formula to predict the pattern of drag reduction over a hydrophobic surface has been *** hydrophobic coatings were applied on NACA 63418 hydrofoils and their performances were *** was found that NACA 63418 hydrofoil with the hydrophobic coatings had its drag reduced by an average of 3%−4.0%.When the coatings were applied on a 350 mm diameter three-bladed turbine,the maximum increment of rotational speed of the turbine was found to be 2.5%.The performance of the two coatings against marine fouling was also *** weight of plate with and without the coatings increased by 10%and 100%,respectively.

In this paper, we consider Markov branching processes with killing and resurrection. We first show that the Markov branching process with killing and stable resurrection is just the Feller minimum process which is honest and thus unique. We then further show that this honest Feller minimum process is not only positive recurrent but also strongly ergodic. The generating function of the important stationary distribution is explicitly expressed. For the interest of comparison and completeness, the results of the Markov branching processes with killing and instantaneous resurrection are also briefly stated. A new result regarding strong ergodicity of this difficult case is presented. The birth and death process with killing and resurrection together with another example is also analyzed.

The corrosion rates of additive-manufactured Mg alloys are higher than their as-cast counterparts,possibly due to increased kinetics for the hydrogen evolution reaction on secondary phases,which may include oxide *** Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy demonstrated that MgO inclusions could act as cathodes for Mg corrosion,but their low conductivity likely precludes ***,the density of state calculations through density functional theory using hybrid HSE06 functional revealed overlapping electronic states at the Mg/MgO interface,which facilitates electron transfers and participates in redox *** determination of the hydrogen absorption energy at the Mg/MgO interface reveals it to be an excellent catalytic site,with HER being found to be a factor of 23x more efficient at the interface than on metallic *** results not only support the plausibility of the Mg/MgO interface being an effective cathode to the adjacent anodic Mg matrix during corrosion but also contribute to the understanding of the enhanced cathodic activities observed during the anodic dissolution of magnesium.

This study systematically evaluates the TCGA whole-transcriptome sequencing data of hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC） by comparing the global gene expression profiles between tumors and their corresponding non- tumorous liver tissue. Based on the differential gene expression analysis, we identified a number of novel dysregulated genes, in addition to those previously reported. Top-listing upregulated （CENPF and FOXM1） and downregulated （CLEC4G, CRHBP, and CLEC1B） genes were successfully validated using qPCR on our cohort of 65 pairs of human HCCs. Further examination for the mechanistic overview by subjecting significantly upregulated and downregulated genes to gene set enrichment analysis showed that different cellular pathways were involved. This study provides useful information on the transcriptomic landscape and molecular mechanism of hepatocarcinogenesis for development of new biomarkers and further in-depth characterization.

Hypoxia is a common phenomenon in hepatocellular carcinoma （HCC）. Hypoxia stabilizes transcription factor, hypoxia-inducible factor （HIF）, to activate gene transcription. Expression of HIF is closely associated with metastasis and poor prognosis in HCC. HIF mediates expression of genes that are involved in every step of HCC metastasis including epithelial-mesenchymal transition, invasion of the extracellular matrix, intravasation, extravasation, and secondary growth of the metastases. Because HIF is the central regulator of HCC metastasis, HIF inhibitors are attractive tools when used alone or as combined treatment to curb HCC metastasis. This review will summarize the current findings on the impact of hypoxia/HIF in HCC, with a particular focus on cancer metastasis.

Organic materials are of great interest for the development of low cost electronic and optoelectronic devices. Although majority of research on organic materials is concerned with synthesis of novel compounds and organic thin films, organic nanostructures are attracting increasing interest in recent years. We briefly review different growth methods of organic nanostructures, which can be roughly divided into vapor deposition methods and self-assembly techniques in solution. Then we highlight some interesting properties of organic nanostructures, as well as possible applications, includinf field emission, electronic and optoelectronic devices.

A 62-year-old male patient was admitted to our hospital due to severe chest pain,odynophagia,and *** computed tomography showed an esophageal submucosal ***(EGD) revealed a longitudinal purplish bulging tumor of the *** ultrasound(EUS) showed a mixed echoic tumor with partial liquefaction from the submucosal *** patient was diagnosed with esophageal intramural hematoma as well as achalasia by upper gastrointestinal endoscopy,esophagography and esophageal *** patient was managed conservatively with intravenous nutrition,and oral feeding was ***-up EGD and EUS showed complete recovery of the esophageal wall,and finally,the patient underwent endoscopic dilatation for *** patient was symptom free at the time when we wrote this manuscript.
