In supervised learning, the imbalanced number of.instances among the classes in a dataset can make the algorithms to classif. one instance f.om the minority class as one f.om the majority class. With the aim to solve this problem, the KNN algorithm provides a basis to other balancing methods. These balancing methods are revisited in this work, and a new and simple approach of.KNN undersampling is proposed. The experiments demonstrated that the KNN undersampling method outperf.rmed other sampling methods. The proposed method also outperf.rmed the results of.other studies, and indicates that the simplicity of.KNN can be used as a base f.r ef.icient algorithms in machine learning and knowledge discovery.

The coastal marine habitats are of.en characterized by high biological activity. Theref.re, monitoring programs and conservation plans of.coastal environments are needed. So, in order to contribute to decision making process of.the Brazilian Inf.rmation System of.Coastal Management, this paper presents a preliminary analysis of.the ef.ects of.simulated deletions of.individual organisms within a planktonic network as knowledge acquisition platf.rm. An in situ scanning f.ow cytometer was used to data acquisition. A static and undirected f.od web is generated and represented by a f.zzy graph structure. Our results show through a series of.indices the main changes of.these networks. It was also verif.ed similar traits and properties with other f.od webs f.und in the literature.

The occurrence of.pharmaceuticals in water bodies and drinking water poses risks f.r the envi-ronment and human health,thus it is necessary to study methodologies that allow the ef.icient removal of.these *** this work,corn cob-derived biochar was obtained by ZnCl_(2)-activation,and subsequent carbonization at 700℃.The ef.ect of.contact time,temperature,pH,and initial concentration on the adsorption capacity of.acetaminophen(ACE)and amoxicillin(AMX)was determined through batch *** addition,the kinetics,isotherms,and ther-modynamics parameters were *** activated biochar exhibited a maximum adsorp-tion capacity of.332.08 mg/g f.r ACE and 175.86 mg/g f.r *** adsorption kinetics and adsorption isotherm of.ACE corresponded to the pseudo-second order and Langmuir model,***,pseudo-f.rst-order kinetics and the f.eundlich isotherm model were well-f.tted to AMX *** ACE and AMX co-adsorption had a synergistic ef.ect on AMX but an antagonistic ef.ect on ACE removal,achieving a maximum adsorption capacity of.193.51 and 184.58 mg/g,*** the other hand,f.xed-bed column experiments showed that the adsorption capacity depends on the inf.uent concentration,and the breakthrough curve f.ts the Thomas and Yoon-nelson *** mechanism adsorption studies showed that surf.ce inter-actions(hydrogen bonding f.rmation and n-𝜋interactions)are the main driving f.rces f.r the adsorption process,and pore f.lling is the rate-limiting *** this way,the prepared biochar exhibits a high potential f.r the adsorption of.pharmaceutical compounds f.om water.

This study determines if.there is a correlation between rising carbon dioxide levels and global warming. Historical data were reviewed f.om three dif.erent time periods spanning 500 million years. It showed that the curves and trends were too dissimilar to establish a connection. Observations f.om CO2/temp ratios showed that the CO2 and the temperature moved in opposite directions 42% of.the time. Many ratios displayed zero or near zero values, ref.ecting a lack of.response. As much as 87% of.the ratios revealed negative or near zero values, which strongly negate a correlation. The inf.ared spectra showed the Greenhouse Gases had an exceptionally low absorption band between 11.67 μm to 9.1 μm, which is a zone called the inf.ared atmospheric window. Most of.the Greenhouse Gases absorb little inf.ared inside that zone. And that zone is where the Earth’s surf.ce emits almost all inf.ared radiation. Even with minimal absorbance, water vapor captures the most inf.ared radiation. It absorbs 84 times more than CO2, 407 thousand times more than methane, 452 thousand times more than ozone and 2.3 million times more than nitrous oxide. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the United States EPA excluded water vapor because it was not associated with man-made activities. They reported that water vapor and clouds were simply f.edback mechanisms f.om CO2. Clouds ref.ect radiation f.om the sun. The Northern Hemisphere is 2.7°f.warmer than the Southern Hemisphere because of.clouds. The world cloud cover has gone down 4.1% f.om 1982 to 2018. Calculations show that this could be responsible f.r 2.4°f.of.the 2.7°f. The research shows that most of.the recent increase in temperature (89.9%) is because of.f.wer clouds.

The identif.cation of.jets originating f.om quarks and gluons,of.en ref.rred to as quark/gluon tagging,plays an important role in various analyses perf.rmed at the Large Hadron Collider,as Standard Model measurements and searches f.r new particles decaying to quarks of.en rely on suppressing a large gluon-induced *** paper describes the measurement of.the ef.iciencies of.quark/gluon taggers developed within the ATLAS Collaboration,using √s=13 TeV proton–proton collision data with an integrated luminosity of.140 f.^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** taggers with high perf.rmances in rejecting jets f.om gluon over jets f.om quarks are studied:one tagger is based on requirements on the number of.inner-detector tracks associated with the jet,and the other combines several jet substructure observables using a boosted decision tree.A method is established to determine the quark/gluon f.action in data,by using quark/gluon-enriched subsamples def.ned by the jet *** in tagging ef.iciency between data and simulation are provided f.r jets with transverse momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and f.r multiple tagger working points.
