Physical Mathematical Evaluation of the Cardiac Dynamic Applying the Zipf-Mandelbrot Law

Introduction: The law of Zipf-Mandelbrot is a power law, which has been observed in natural languages. A mathematical diagnosis of fetal cardiac dynamics has been developed with this law. Objective: To develop a methodology for diagnostic aid to assess the degree of complexity of adult cardiac dynamics by Zipf-Mandelbrot law. Methodology: A mathematical induction was done for this;two groups of Holter recordings were selected: 11 with normal diagnosis and 11 with acute disease of each group, one Holter of each group was chosen for the induction, the law of Zipf-Mandelbrot was applied to evaluate the degree of complexity of each Holter, searching similarities or differences between the dynamics. A blind study was done with 20 Holters calculating sensitivity, specificity and the coefficient kappa. Results: The complexity grade of a normal cardiac dynamics varied between 0.9483 and 0.7046, and for an acute dynamic between 0.6707 and 0.4228. Conclusions: A new physical mathematical methodology for diagnostic aid was developed;it showed that the degree of complexity of normal cardiac dynamics was higher than those with acute disease, showing quantitatively how cardiac dynamics can evolve to acute state.

Thermal Decomposition of Diphenyl Tetroxane in Chlorobenzene Solution

The thermal decomposition of Cyclic Diperoxide of Benzaldehyde 3,6-diphenyl-1,2,4,5-tetroxane, (DFT) in chlorobenzene solution in the studied temperature range (130°C - 166°C) satisfactorily satisfies a first order law up to 60% conversions of diperoxide. DFT would decompose through a mechanism in stages and initiated by the homolytic breakdown of one of the peroxidic bonds of the molecule, with the formation of the corresponding intermediate biradical. The concentration studied was very low, so that the effects of secondary reactions of decomposition induced by free radicals originated in the reaction medium can be considered minimal or negligible. The activation parameters for the unimolecular thermal decomposition reaction of the DFT are ΔH# = 30.52 ± 0.3 kcal·mol-1 and ΔS# = -6.38 ± 0.6 cal·mol-1 K-1. The support for a step-by-step mechanism instead of a process concerted is made by comparison with the theoretically calculated activation energy for the thermal decomposition of 1,2,4,5-tetroxane.

Microbial Phytases and Phytate: Exploring Opportunities for Sustainable Phosphorus Management in Agriculture

Myo-inositol phosphates (phytates) are important biological molecules produced largely by plants to store phosphorus. Phytate is very abundant in many different soils making up a large portion of all soil phosphorus. This review assesses current phytase science from the perspective of its substrate, phytate, by examining the intricate relationship between the phytate-hydrolyzing enzymes and phytate as their substrate. Specifically, we examine available data on phytate’s structural features, distribution in nature and functional roles. The role of phytases and their localization in soil and plant tissues are evaluated. We provide a summary of the current biotechnological advances in using industrial or recombinant phytases to improve plant growth and animal nutrition. The prospects of future discovery of novel phytases with improved biochemical properties and bioengineering of existing enzymes are also discussed. Two alternative but complementary directions to increase phosphorus bioavailability through the more efficient utilization of soil phytate are currently being developed. These approaches take advantage of microbial phytases secreted into rhizosphere either by phytase-producing microbes (biofertilizers) or by genetically engineered plants. More research on phytate metabolism in soils and plants is needed to promote environmentally friendly, more productive and sustainable agriculture.

Finding alternatives of synthetic pesticide for health and the safe environment has become a crucial issue for scientific research.A number of studies have reported efficacy of Bacillus species on promoting plant development,as well as protecting plants against pathogens invasion,especially pathogenic fungi and ***,little was known about Bacillus species in controlling viral *** this study,Bacillus atrophaeus strain HAB-5,isolated from soil of cotton field,Xinjiang,China,was able to efficiently promote the growth of tobacco plant in that the expansins genes NtEXPl and NtEXP2 in tobacco leaves after treatment with *** Tobacco mosaic virus(TMV)/Nicotiana tobacco system was employed to evaluate virus resistance induced by *** leaves were treated with antimicrobial metabolites of HAB-5 strain(lmg/mL),and 12 hours later the treated leaves were challenged with TMV via *** results showed that diseasing symptoms were obviously compromised in tobacco leaves treated with HAB-5,and viral accumulation levels were also greatly ***,it was found that the signaling regulatory gene(NPR1),defense genes(PR-1a,PR-1b,Chia5),and hypertensive response related genes(Hsr203J,Hinl) were up-regulated in plants treated with the ***,these accumulated results strongly supported the strain HAB-5 to be a biocontrol strain against TMV.

Blood Glucose Concentration Abnormalities in Children with Severe Malaria: Risk Factors and Outcome

Background: The place of blood glucose abnormalities in severe malaria is poorly defined. The objective of the study was to determine the incidence of glycemic abnormalities and to identify the factors associated with their occurrence and death. Patients and Methods: A prospective study was conducted from January to October 2016 at the Teaching Hospital of Brazzaville. The blood glucose levels of all children hospitalized for severe malaria were measured for 3 days. The variables were compared in univariate and multivariate analysis. Results: A total of 158 children with an average age of 69.6 months ± 43.2 (ranges: 5 months and 15 years) were hospitalized for severe malaria. Moderate hyperglycemia was observed in 52.53% of children, severe hyperglycemia: 17.72%, moderate hypoglycemia: 15.19% and severe hypoglycemia: 2.53%. Children aged 5 years (p = 0.03), females (p = 0.03), with disease duration before admission ≥ 7 days (p = 0.03) and referred from private hospitals (p = 0.04) had an increased risk of hypoglycemia. Age > 5 years was associated with hyperglycemia (p = 0.0006). The presence of hypoglycemia (blood glucose ≤ 3.3 mmol/L) on admission was associated with the risk of death (OR = 9.59, p = 0.02), no death occurred in children with hyperglycemia (p = 0.4) on admission. Conclusion: The incidence of blood glucose abnormalities is high in severe malaria. Hyperglycemia is more common than hypoglycemia, but only hypoglycemia is associated with an increased risk of death.

Land-cover change can affect inland fisheries,which underpin food security of millions of people *** of forests from very large floodplains has been found to decrease fish catch via loss of feeding and nursery habitat for ***,it is unknown if similar effects occur in smaller rivers with limited floodplain *** is also known about the mechanisms by which land-cover changes affect inland fish ***,we assessed land-use and land-cover(LULC)effects on fish catch,diet,and condition at sites in two medium-sized rivers of Cameroon,in Central *** found that LULC explained 30%of the variation in fish catch,with the catch of five species being positively,and of two species being negatively,related to floodplain *** niche breadth of fish diets was higher in the river surrounded by forests than in the river surrounded by agricultural ***,contrary to expectations,condition of the fish,as indicated by occurrence of diseases or deformities,eroded fins,lesions or tumors,was not related to *** results support the notions that floodplain forests support fish populations in rivers with limited floodplain areas in ways similar to that of rivers with large floodplains,and that LULC affects fish populations via changes in fish diets and instream habitat features(i.e.,riparian canopy closure,water clarity,substrate heterogeneity,and habitat volume).These effects imply that prevailing changes in LULC threaten the food and livelihood security services provided by inland fisheries,highlighting the importance of policies that maintain native vegetation along riverbanks and in floodplain areas.

我们主要工作是选育具有高油酸低亚麻酸(HOLL)的冬油菜品种(纯系)。我们一直在收集具有稳定油酸和亚麻酸的材料,它们经过多年多点鉴定,具有较好的农艺性状和正常的油菜形态。值得一提的是,我们所获得的HOLL品系无带化现象,并且根系发育正常,不像文献中所报道的大多数突变体那样。对具有常规脂肪酸含量(但油酸含量不同:低油酸75%,或亚麻酸<3.5%)的冬油菜品种间进行了杂交。这些材料通过自交系统选至F7代甚至更高世代。对所有世代脂肪酸都进行分析,而且对主要的育种性状(如熟期、抗倒、抗病)进行选择,以消除带化,保证根系等发育正常。F1代以后的所有世代都进行脂肪酸成份分析,只保留那些油酸超过75%且亚麻酸低于3.5%的育种材料。通过这种方法获得了一系列HOLL品种,并且“SPLENDOR”成为欧洲第一个获得注册的HOLL品种。“SPLENDOR”于2004年在法国注册,它的油酸含量为76.48%,亚麻酸含量为2.73%,这是两年14个点的测试结果。
