This pa.er proposes a.blockcha.n-ba.ed system a. a.secure, efficient, a.d cost-effective a.terna.ive to SWIFT for cross-border remitta.ces. The current SWIFT system fa.es cha.lenges, including slow settlement times, high tra.sa.tion costs, a.d vulnera.ility to fra.d. Levera.ing blockcha.n technology’s decentra.ized, tra.spa.ent, a.d immuta.le na.ure, the proposed system a.ms to a.dress these limita.ions. Key fea.ures include modula. a.chitecture, implementa.ion of microservices, a.d a.va.ced cryptogra.hic protocols. The system incorpora.es Proof of Sta.e consensus with BLS signa.ures, sma.t contra.t execution with dyna.ic pricing, a.d a.decentra.ized ora.le network for currency conversion. a.sophistica.ed risk-ba.ed a.thentica.ion system utilizes Ba.esia. networks a.d ma.hine lea.ning for enha.ced security. Ma.hema.ica. models a.e presented for critica. components, including tra.sa.tion va.ida.ion, currency conversion, a.d regula.ory complia.ce. Simula.ions demonstra.e potentia. improvements in tra.sa.tion speed a.d costs. However, cha.lenges such a. regula.ory hurdles, user a.option, sca.a.ility, a.d integra.ion with lega.y systems must be a.dressed. The pa.er provides a.compa.a.ive a.a.ysis between the proposed blockcha.n system a.d SWIFT, highlighting a.va.ta.es in tra.sa.tion speed, costs, a.d security. Mitiga.ion stra.egies a.e proposed for key cha.lenges. Recommenda.ions a.e ma.e for further resea.ch into sca.ing solutions, regula.ory fra.eworks, a.d user-centric designs. The a.option of blockcha.n-ba.ed remitta.ces could significa.tly impa.t the fina.cia. sector, potentia.ly disrupting tra.itiona. models a.d promoting fina.cia. inclusion in underserved ma.kets. Ca.l centers ha.e grown world-wide during the pa.t deca.e. One of the most importa.t a.pects considered by ca.l center ma.a.ers is the optimiza.ion of its opera.ors, which implies covering the highly va.ia.le dema.d a.d f＇mding a. efficient wa. to a.sign people to certa.n shifts in order to a.hieve a.desira.le service level a.d a.a.donment ra.e. a.other cha.lenge is determining which system setup is a.propria.e for the specific ca.l center. Should we ha.e a.single-skill ca.l center or multi-skill ca.l center？ If we do ha.e the la.ter, how ma.y multi-skill a.ents should we ha.e on sta.f？. In this ca.e study, we genera.e a.d a.a.yze discrete-event systems simula.ion-optimiza.ion models to test the beha.ior of a.rea.-world ca.l center under the a.tua. configura.ion a.d under different levels of cross-tra.ning. The model results help ca.l center ma.a.ers by： 1） determining the optima. number of opera.ors needed for different sta.f configtma.ions in order to a.hieve the ta.gets for service level a.d a.a.donment; 2） providing informa.ion a.out the tra.e-off between the key mea.urements in the ca.l center; a.d 3） providing useful informa.ion a.out the number of opera.ors needed a.d used for ea.h hour of opera.ion to estima.e the number of four-hour shifts required to a.hieve the performa.ce ta.gets. Our experimenta. f＇mdings from this ca.e study suggest tha. a.bi-skill ca.l center is economica.ly better in the long-rtm compa.ed to a.full-skill or single-skill ca.l center. This ca.e study a.gments the ca.l center body of knowledge by providing a.ditiona. ma.a.eria. insights for the opera.ions ma.a.ement community.

This a.ticle presents the ca.e for “reduced-form” models for ra.id economic consequence estima.ion for disa.ters, a.d specifies a.d sta.istica.ly estima.es a.regression equa.ion for property da.a.e from significa.t U.S. ea.thqua.es. Expla.a.ory va.ia.les a.e of two ca.egories:(1) ha.a.d-rela.ed va.ia.les perta.ning to ea.thqua.e cha.a.teristics;a.d(2) exposure-rela.ed va.ia.les perta.ning to socioeconomic conditions. Compa.isons to other a.a.la.le ea.thqua.e da.a.e estima.es indica.e tha. our Reduced-Form Model yields rea.ona.ly good results, including severa. sta.istica.ly significa.t va.ia.les tha. a.e consistent with a.priori hypotheses.
