Organ transplantation is an effective therapeutic tool for treating many terminal ***,one of the biggest challenges of transplantation is determining how to achieve the long-term survival of the allogeneic or xenogeneic transplant by,for example,preventing transplant *** the current study,CD26 gene-knockout mice were used to investigate the potential role of CD26/dipeptidyl peptidase-4(DPPIV)in allogeneic skin graft rejection by tail-skin *** with wild-type(CD26^(+/+))counterparts,CD26^(-/-)mice showed reduced necrosis of grafts and delayed graft rejection after skin *** of serum IgG,including its subclasses IgG1 and IgG2a,were significantly reduced in CD26^(-/-)mice during graft ***,after allogeneic skin transplantation,the secretion levels of the cytokines IFN-γ,IL-2,IL-6,IL-4,and IL-13 were significantly reduced,whereas the level of the cytokine IL-10 was increased in the serum of CD26^(-/-)mice compared with that in the serum of CD26^(+/+)***,the concentration of IL-17 in serum and the percentage of cells secreting IL-17 in mouse peripheral blood lymphocytes(MPBLs)were both significantly lower,while the percentage of regulatory T cells(Tregs)was significantly higher in MPBLs of CD26^(-/-)mice than in those of CD26^(+/+)***,a lower percentage of CD8^(+)T cells in MPBLs and fewer infiltrated macrophages and T cells in graft tissues of CD26^(-/-)mice were detected during graft *** results indicate that CD26 is involved in allogeneic skin graft rejection and provides another hint that CD26 deficiency leads to less rejection due to lower activation and proliferation of host immune cells.

The Gentio metagranitoid presents equigranular and porphyritic facies, modal composition ranging from tonalite to monzogranite with calculated T_(Zr)6 wt.%). Zircon analyses by LA-ICP-MS and SHRIMP yielded a concordia age of 2 119±10 Ma for the porphyritic facies and an upper intercept age of 2 111±15 Ma for the equigranular facies. The whole-rock Sm-Nd T_(DM) ages vary from 2.4 to 2.8 Ga with ε_(Nd)(2.1) values between -0.7 and-5.3, indicating crustal derivation from distinct and/or heterogeneous protoliths. Field observations indicate that the Gentio metagranitoid was formed through different pulses of magma. Individual batches were subject to little or even no fractionation process after its emplacement. Although the Gentio metagranitoid crosscuts metamafic and metaultramafic rocks akin to an oceanic arc setting, this pluton is likely originated by partial melting of a more evolved quartz-feldspathic crustal igneous rock in a post-collisional environment, after the accretion of the arcs from the Mineiro belt and rocks of the Mantiqueira Complex.

Annual and seasonal diurnal precipitable water vapor(PWV)variations over Central and South America are analyzed for the period *** values were obtained from Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS)observations of sixty-nine GNSS tracking *** by climate categories show that PWV values for temperate,polar and cold dry climate have a positive skewed distribution and for tropical climates(except for monsoon subtype)show a negative skewed *** diurnal PWV and surface temperatures(T)anomaly datasets are analyzed by using principal components analysis(PCA).The first two modes represent more than 90%of the PWV *** first PCA mode of PWV variability shows a maximum amplitude value in the late afternoon few hours later than the respective values for surface temperature(T),therefore the temperature and the surface conditions(to yield evaporation)could be the main agents producing this variability;PWV variability in inland stations are mainly represented by this *** second mode of PWV variability shows a maximum amplitude at midnight,a possible explanation of this behavior is the effect of the sea/valley *** coastal and valley stations are affected by this mode in most ***,the"undefined"stations,surrounded by several water bodies,are mainly affected by the second mode with negative *** the seasonal analysis,both the undefined and valley stations constitute the main cases that show a sea or valley breeze only during some seasons,while the rest of the year they present a behavior according to their temperature and the surface *** a result,the PCA proves to be a useful numerical tool to represent the main sub-daily PWV variabilities.

With the aim of studying the effect of water dynamics on the properties of biological systems, in this paper, we present a quasi-elastic neutron scattering study on three different types of living cells, differing both in their morphological and tumor properties. The measured scattering signal, which essentially originates from hydrogen atoms present in the investigated systems, has been analyzed using a global fitting strategy using an optimized theoretical model that considers various classes of hydrogen atoms and allows disentangling diffusive and rotational motions. The approach has been carefully validated by checking the reliability of the calculation of parameters and their 99% confidence intervals. We demonstrate that quasi-elastic neutron scattering is a suitable experimental technique to characterize the dynamics of intracellular water in the angstrom/picosecond space/time scale and to investigate the effect of water dynamics on cellular biodiversity.

Background: Zambia has a population of 17.4 million people of which 48% are unable to meet their minimum calorie requirement and 35% of the children in Zambia are stunted (ZDHS, 2018). In the 2018 ZDHS report, 31% of women aged 15 - 49 had anaemia. Most cases of anaemia in pregnancy are due to micronutrient deficiency and maternal malnutrition. The 2020 Zambia Global Nutrition Report shows an increase in the prevalence of anaemia among women of reproductive age (45%) and low birth weight infants (13.0%) which suggested a need to explore determinants of pregnant women’s nutrition uptake in order to improve the nutritional status of pregnant women particularly those in Solwezi district of the north-western province of Zambia. Methods: An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted on antenatal mothers aged 15 - 49 accessing routine antenatal care from four selected health facilities in Solwezi district from July 2021 to February 2021. Cluster sampling method was used to select the 4 health facilities and the 98 antenatal mothers were selected using systematic sampling method. Data was collected using a pretested researcher-assisted semi-structured questionnaire and analyzed using the SPSS version 26. Chi-square test was used to determine associations between the independent and independent variables. The level of significance was set at 0.05 and the confidence interval was set at 95%. Multiple logistic regression analysis was done to predict associations among variables. Results: The findings revealed that a large proportion of respondents (71.4 %) had high knowledge regarding nutrition during pregnancy compared to (19.4%) and (9.2%) who expressed medium and low knowledge levels respectively. Attitude towards nutrition in pregnancy was positive in the majority, 82 (83.7%) of the respondents, and over half, (55%) of the respondents reported good nutrition uptake during pregnancy. Dear Editor, The tropical plant Madagascar periwinkle Catharanthus roseus （L.） *** is a rich source of plant-derived medicinal ter-penoid indole alkaloids （TIAs）, including the anti-hypertensive ajmalicine, the sedative compound serpentine, and the anti-cancer drugs vinblastine and vincristine. However, the latter two compounds are produced in C. roseus plants only in very low amounts. Elicitors such as hormones （e.g. jasmonates or salicylic acid） activate plant natural defense responses, includ-ing increased secondary metabolite production （EI-Sayed and Verpoorte, 2007; Lackman et al.. 2011）.

Among the different DNA anomalies that can be present in the male gamete, DNA fragmentation is the most frequent, particularly in infertile subjects. There is now consistent evidence that a sperm containing fragmented DNA can be alive, motile, morphologically normal and able to fertilize an oocyte. There is also evidence that the oocyte is able to repair DNA damage; however, the extent of this repair depends on the type of DNA damage present in the sperm, as well as on the quality of the oocyte. Thus, it is important to understand the possible consequences of sperm DNA fragmentation （SDF） for embryo development, implantation, pregnancy outcome and the health of progeny conceived, both naturally and by assisted reproductive technology （ART）. At present, data on the consequences of SDF for reproduction are scarce and, in many ways, inconsistent. The differences in study conclusions might result from the different methods used to detect SDF, the study design and the inclusion criteria. Consequently, it is difficult to decide whether SDF testing should be carried out in fertility assessment and ART. It is clear that there is an urgent need for the standardisation of the methods and for additional clinical studies on the impact of SDF on ART outcomes.
