microwave absorption materials are prone to degradation in extremely humid and salty environments,and it is still challenging to develop a dense and firm interface to protect microwave ***,a robust FeSiAl@PUA@SiO2(PUA:acrylic polyurethane)gradient hybrid was prepared through plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD)to achieve efficient microwave absorption and anti-corrosion *** organic/inorganic dual coat of PUA/SiO2 not only facilitated the interface polarization but also effectively reduced the dielectric constant and optimized impedance *** to the unique hybrid structure,the(PECVD-FeSiAl@PUA)@SiO_(2) exhibited highly efficient microwave absorbing performance in frequency bands covering almost the entire Ku-bands(12-18 GHz)with a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)of−47 dB with a matching thickness of 2.3 *** organic/inorganic dual protection effectively shields against the corrosive medium,as the corrosion potential and the polarization resistance increased from−0.167 to−0.047 V and 8,064 to 16,273Ω·cm^(2),*** the corrosion current decreased from 3.04×10^(−6) to 2.16×10^(−6) A/cm^(2).Hence,the plasma-enhanced densification of PUA created a strong bridge to integrate FeSiAl and organic/inorganic components acquiring dual-function of efficient microwave absorption and anticorrosion,which opened a promising platform for potential practical absorbers.

Self-positioning of Robot Based on 2D Lidar Sensor

In the real world, safe navigation is one of the primary aims of a mobile robot. Obstacle avoidance ability is the significant embodiment of the ground mobile robot, and the basic guarantee of the ground mobile robot to perform various tasks. Obstacle avoidance technologies are divided into two kinds, one is based on the global map and another is based on sensors *** paper mainly aims at the local obstacle avoidance method based on sensors. For this to be effectively achieved we must take into account both static and moving obstacles, including sidewalk curbs, ambulatory humans, and moving bicycles. To this end, the researcher has developed a new emergency obstacle avoidance module for moving robots that uses Light Detection and Ranging（LIDAR） to detect static and moving obstacles. The module comprises a tilted 2-D LIDAR and a high speed embedded microcontroller. Tilting LIDAR enables the detection of lower sidewalk curbs, which is important for enabling safe navigation. The microcontroller is used for the estimation of obstacle motion and to facilitate rapid initiation of emergency obstacle avoidance maneuvers. By employing a fast embedded microcontroller, we can distinguish between lower height obstacles and slopes, even on uneven surfaces, in real-time.

Effect of flow rate perturbations has been studied using the modified computer program CPAIR-P for time dependent corrosion rates in Pressurized Water Reactors (PWRs) having extended cycles. In these simulations, a decrease in the corresponding saturation values of corrosion product activity (CPA) is observed for higher pH values. Comparison of CPA’s behavior has been done for constant flow-rate case as well as for transients with elevated 10B levels (~40%) in dissolved boric acid in coolant in two operating cycles. When the flow rate is decreased in the first cycle, the saturation value of CPA attains new higher values. Also, in the second operating cycle, the saturation values are about 12% higher when compared with the values in the first cycle.

Trace metal concentrations were investigated in a recent sediment core collected from the Rehri Creek area of the Karachi coast, Sindh - Pakistan. The core was sliced horizontally at 2.5-cm intervals to determine grain size, sediment composition, pH, organic matter, and acid-leachable trace metals： cadmium, chromium, copper, lead, and zinc. The trace metals were analyzed by ICP. To separate anthropogenic from geogenic input, several approaches were made, including comparison with sediment quality guidelines--ecotoxicological sense of heavy metal contamination and classification by quantitative indexes. Grain-size analysis and sediment composition of core sample show a sandy nature with neutral pH. Elemental sequence （ES） of the trace metals is in the order of Zn （19.2-109.56 ppm）〉 Si （66.46-101.71 ppm）〉 Ba （12.05-26.86 ppm）〉 As （8.18-17.36 ppm）〉 Ni （4.2- 14.69 ppm）〉 Cr （3.02-9.62 ppm）〉 Pb （2.79-6.83 ppm）〉 Cu （2.2-5.29 ppm）〉 Co （0.9-2.05 ppm）. Thus it is likely that the area may face a serious threat of metal pollution with the present deposition rates unless stringent pollution control norms are adopted. The Sediment Geo-accumulation Index shows that there is no Cr, Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn, or Fe pollution; however, the former index and the Pollution Load Index indicate arsenic pollution in the sediments.
