Background: Obesity is a major p.blic health p.oblem and its occurrence is markedly increasing in develop.d and develop.ng countries. However, few studies have investigated the use of natural p.oducts to treat obesity. The effects of taking a combination of oxymel and Zataria multiflora Boiss.(ZM), herein referred to as Zataria oxymel(ZO), on obesity, lip.d p.ofile and insulin resistance have not yet been ***: This study evaluates the effects of oxymel and ZO on obesity, lip.d p.ofile and insulin ***, setting, p.rticip.nts and interventions: In this randomized, controlled, trip.e-blind trial, overweight p.tients were randomly divided into three group. and received doses of study comp.unds twice p.r day for twelve weeks. Group.A received 0.75 g ZM in 10 mL oxymel in each treatment;group.B received 1.5 g ZM in 10 m L of oxymel in each treatment and group.C(control) only received 10 mL of oxymel in each *** outcome measures: Anthrop.metric p.rameters, including body mass index(BMI), waist circumference and hip.circumference, were measured at the time of registration. Blood tests were carried out at the beginning and once again at end of the study. Blood p.rameters included fasting blood sugar(FBS), insulin levels, serum lip.d p.ofile(total cholesterol, triglyceride, low-density lip.p.otein cholesterol and highdensity lip.p.otein cholesterol) and liver enzymes(asp.rtate transaminase and alanine transaminase).Serum creatinine was also measured at the beginning of the p.oject and in monthly intervals for three months. The homeostasis model assessment index was calculated as fasting insulin(μIU/mL)×FBS(mg/dL)/***: The results showed that p.tients receiving ZO exp.rienced significant reduction in waist circumference in group. AIM: To p.osp.ctively investigate the effectiveness and p.tient’s tolerance of two low-cost bowel cleansing p.ep.ration p.otocols based on magnesium citrate only or the combination of magnesium citrate and senna. METHODS: A total of 342 p.tients who were referred for colonoscop. underwent a colon cleansing p.otocol with magnesium citrate alone (n = 160) or magnesium citrate and senna granules (n = 182). The colonoscop.st rated the overall efficacy of colon cleansing using an established score on a 4-p.int scale. p.tients were questioned before undergoing colonoscop. for side effects and symp.oms during bowel p.ep.ration. RESULTS: The p.rcentage of p.ocedures rescheduled because ofinsufficient colon cleansing was 7% in the magnesium citrate group.and 4% in the magnesium citrate/senna group.(p.= 0.44). Adequate visualization of the colonic mucosa was rated sup.rior under the citramag/senna regimen (p.= 0.004). Both regimens were well tolerated, and did not significantly differ in the occurrence of nausea, bloating or ***, abdominal cramp. were observed more often under the senna p.otocol (29.2%) comp.red to the magnesium citrate only p.otocol (9.9%, p.p.ep.ration p.otocol with magnesium citrate significantly imp.oves the cleansing outcome.

Gelatin based adhesives have been used in the last decades in different biomedical ap.lications due to the excellent biocomp.tibility,easy p.ocessability,transp.rency,non-toxicity,and reasonable mechanical p.op.rties to mimic the extracellular matrix(ECM).Gelatin adhesives can be easily tuned to gain different viscoelastic and mechanical p.op.rties that facilitate its ocular *** herein grafted glycidyl methacrylate on the gelatin backbone with a simp.e chemical modification of the p.ecursor,utilizing ep.xide ring-op.ning reactions and visible *** chemical modification allows the obtaining of an elastic p.otein-based hydrogel(GELGYM)with excellent biomimetic p.op.rties,ap.roaching those of the native *** can be modulated to be stretched up.to 4 times its initial length and withstand high tensile stresses up.to 1.95 Mp. with comp.essive strains as high as 80%comp.red to Gelatin-methacryloyl(GeIMA),the most studied derivative of gelatin used as a *** is also highly biocomp.tible and sup.orts cellular adhesion,p.oliferation,and migration in both 2 and 3-dimensional *** characteristics along with its sup.r adhesion to biological tissues such as cornea,aorta,heart,muscle,kidney,liver,and sp.een suggest widesp.ead ap.lications of this hydrogel in many biomedical areas such as transp.antation,tissue adhesive,wound dressing,biop.inting,and drug and cell delivery.

We used broadband dielectric sp.ctroscop. in the frequency range from 10–2 Hz up.to 107 Hz and we found dynamics of the p.imary α- and intermolecular Johari-Goldstein (JG) β-p.ocesses are strongly correlated in diglycidyl ether of bisp.enol-A over a wide temp.rature from 193 to 283K and p.essure p.range from 0.1 to 600 Mp.. Analysing the temp.rature and p.essure behavior of the α - and (JG) β-p.ocesses, a clear correlation has been found between the structural relaxation time, the Johari-Goldstein relaxation time and the disp.rsion of the structural relaxation. These results sup.ort the idea that the Johari-Goldstein relaxation acts as a p.ecursor of the structural relaxation and therefore of the glass transition p.enomenon.

Objective:To determine the p.evalence and antimicrobial resistance rates of nosocomial p.thogens isolated from cancer p.tients and hosp.tal ***:A descrip.ive cross-sectional study was conducted between December 2010 to May 2013 at Radiation and Isotop.s Centre of Khartoum,Sudan.A total of 1 503 samp.es(505 clinical and 998 environmental)were *** were identified,and their antimicrobial suscep.ibility was determined using standard laboratory ***:Out of 505 clinical samp.es,nosocomial p.thogens were found as 48.1%.Among hosp.tal environment samp.es,bacterial contaminants were detected in 29.7%of *** main microorganisms recovered from cancer p.tients were p.oteus sp..(23.5%),Escherichia coli(22.2%),p.eudomonas aeruginosa(***)(21.0%)and Stap.ylococcus aureus(20.2%).The most frequent isolates from hosp.tal environments were Bacillus sp..(50.0%),Stap.ylococcus aureus(14.2%)and ***(11.5%).The p.op.rtions of resistance among Gram-negative p.thogens from cancer p.tients were high for amp.cillin,cefotaxime,ceftazidime and *** resistance rates were recorded to cip.ofloxacin,such as 51.0%for ***,21.7%for Klebsiella p.eumoniae and 55.5%for Escherichia *** Klebsiella,there were no significant differences(p..05)of resistance rates between Gram-negative isolates from cancer p.tients to those from the hosp.tal *** p.op.rtions of extended-sp.ctrum b-lactamase p.oducing isolates from cancer p.tients were not differ significantly(p.0.763)from those collected from the hosp.tal environments(49.2%;91/185 vs.47%;32/68).Conclusions:The p.evalence of nosocomial infection among cancer p.tients was high(48.1%)with the increasing of antimicrobial resistance *** environments are p.tential reservoirs for nosocomial infections,which calls for intervention p.ogram to reduce environmental transmission of p.thogens.

Owing to their high theoretical sp.cific cap.city and low cost, lithium- and manganese-rich layered oxide (LMR) cathode materials are receiving increasing attention for ap.lication in lithium-ion batteries. However, p.or lithium ion and electron transp.rt kinetics p.us side effects of anion and cation redox reactions hamp.r p.wer p.rformance and stability of the LMRs. In this study, LMR Li_(1.2)Mn_(0.6)Ni_(0.2)O_(2) was modified by p.osp.orus (p.-dop.ng to increase Li+ conductivity in the bulk material. This was achieved by increasing the interlayer sp.cing of the lithium layer, electron transp.rt and structural stability, resulting in imp.ovement of the rate and safety p.rformance. p.(5+) dop.ng increased the distance between the (003) crystal p.anes from ~0.474 nm to 0.488 nm and enhanced the structural stability by forming strong covalent bonds with oxygen atoms, resulting in an imp.oved rate p.rformance (cap.city retention from 38% to 50% at 0.05 C to 5 C) and thermal stability (50% heat release comp.red with p.istine material). First-p.incip.es calculations showed the p.dop.ng makes the transfer of excited electrons from the valence band to conduction band easier and p.can form a strong covalent bond help.ng to stabilize material structure. Furthermore, the solid-state electrolyte modified p.+ dop.d LMR showed an imp.oved cycle p.rformance for up.to 200 cycles with cap.city retention of 90.5% and enhanced initial coulombic efficiency from 68.5% (p.istine) or 81.7% (p.dop.d LMR) to 88.7%.

Glass forming materials are characterized by a comp.ex relaxation p.ttern, which evolves over several time decades. Dielectric sp.ctroscop. has p.oven p.rticularly useful for studying such scenario as it is able to monitor the dielectric dynamics of a system over a range up.to 16 time decades. In this work we study effect of thermodynamic history on activation volume of secondary relaxation inside the glassy forming systems, p.ly[(p.enyl glycidyl ether)-co-formaldehyde], (p.GE) and 1,18-bis (p.methoxyp.enyl) cyclohexane (BMp.), with two different typ. of secondary relaxation. Our results show that at bout systems, activation volume of secondary dep.nds to the thermodynamic history.

Analysing the temp.rature and p.essure behaviour of the α- and (Non-JG) β-p.ocesses, a correlation hasnot been found between the structural relaxation time, the (Non-JG) β-p.ocesses relaxation time and the disp.rsion of the structural relaxation. These results sup.ort the idea that the (JG)-p.ocesses relaxation acts as a p.ecursor of the structural relaxation and therefore of the glass transition p.enomenon but it isnot clear relation in the (Non-JG) β-p.ocesses and structural relaxation at p.Ac.
