CRYPTOCHROMES （CRYs） are photolyase-like ultraviolet-A/blue light photoreceptors that mediate various light responses in plants. The signaling mechanism of Arabidopsis CRYs （CRY1 and CRY2） involves direct CRY-COP1 interaction. Here, we report that CRY1G380R, which carries a Gly-to-Arg substitution of the highly conserved G380 in the photo-lyase-related （PHR） domain of Arabidopsis CRY1, shows constitutive CRY1 photoreceptor activity in Arabidopsis. Transgenic plants overexpressing CRY1G380R display a constitutively photomorphogenic （COP） phenotype in darkness, as well as a dramatic early flowering phenotype under short-day light conditions （SD）. We further demonstrate that CRY1G380R expression driven by the native CRY1 promoter also results in a COP phenotype in darkness. Moreover, over- expression of either the Arabidopsis homolog CRY2G377R or the rice ortholog OsCRYlbG388R of CRY1G380R in Arabidopsis results in a COP phenotype in darkness. Cellular localization studies indicate that CRY1G380R co-localizes with COP1 in the same nuclear bodies （NBs） in vivo and inhibits the nuclear accumulation of COP1 in darkness. These results suggest that the conserved G380 may play a critical role in regulating the photoreceptor activity of plant CRYs and that CRY1G380R might constitutively phenocopy the photo-activated CRY1 in darkness and thus constitutively mediate CRY1 signaling.

： With the acceleration of thc urbanization and industrialization of China, it is inevitable that cultivated land convcrts to built-up land for industrial, commercial and residential uses, which would impose pressure both on food security and on the sustainability of urbanization itself tbr such a country with large population and few cultivated land. Based on thc three-time Landsat Thematic Mapper （TM） digital imagcs and statistic data of Hebei Province, the general facts of cultivated land conversion and its driving forces were analyzcd by establishing econometric model in this papcr. Some conclusions werc drawn as the following： during 1985 2000, the rate of cultivated land converting to built-up arca in Hebei was 4.01% or 0.27% pcr year. Of all the converted cultivated land, 20.96% was converted to built-up area and of all the new built-up areas, 83.4% was converted from cultivated land; meanwhile the conversion is uneven not only in time but also in space; factors such as edgc length shared by cultivated land and built-up land, agricultural value per hectare, non-agriculture value per hectarc, GDP, total population, farmer＇s net income per capita and time had significant effects on this conversion.

The current study investigated changes in the content of the rare earth element Europium （Eu） in roots, shoots and leaves of rice plants and in Nilaparvata lugens Stal （Hemiptera： Delphacidae） using an Eu marker and hydroponic culture. The results showed that N. lugens infestation significantly reduced Eu content in roots, shoots and leaves of two rice varieties, Shenyou 1 and Xieyou 963. The Eu content in roots, shoots and leaves of the susceptible variety, Shenyou 1, was significantly higher than that in the resistant variety, Xieyou 963. The Eu content ofN. lugens fed on Shenyou 1 was significantly higher than of those fed on Xieyou 963. In addition, the Eu level was elevated at a higher density ofN. lugens infestation. Eu content in the bodies ofN. lugens was related to their weight and honeydew excretion, with a significant positive correlation. Thus, Eu content in the bodies ofN. lugens can be considered an index of the amount of phloem sap taken in by N. lugens because the amount of honeydew excretion is proportional to the amount of phloem sap consumed. The ratios of Eu content in N. lugens to that in roots, shoots and leaves of rice plants were elevated at a higher N. lugens infestation density. That ratio was maximal in leaves, was intermediate in shoots and was minimal in roots. There was no significant difference in ratios between the two plant varieties. An Eu marker may be useful in the screening of resistant varieties and in the study of the mechanisms of resistance.

Dear Editor,This letter addresses the noncooperative formation control of multiple underactuated autonomous surface vehicles (ASVs) in an obstacle-laden *** ASV is subject to external disturbances and fully unknown model parameters.A safety-critical game-based formation control method is proposed such that the multiple AS Vs are able to track a reference trajectory,and accomplish each individual interest in safety behaviors *** stability and safety analyses show that the closed-loop system is input-to-state stable (ISS),and the multi-ASV system is guaranteed for input-to-state safety (ISSf).Simulation results substantiate the proposed safety-critical game-based formation control method.

Smoke and fire recognition are of great importance on foreseeing fire disasters and preventing environmental pollution by monitoring the burning process of objects(e.g., straw, fuels). However, since fire images suffer from problems like the variability of the features, complexity of scenarios, interference from background, changeable weather conditions as well as image quality problems, identifying smoke and fire accurately and promptly from a given image still remains a substantial challenge. Automatically learning the features of smoke images by CNNs has improved the target recognition ability compared to traditional approaches,nonetheless, convolutions and pooling operations in CNNs may cause severe information loss which may lead to *** tackle the above problems, this paper proposed a hybrid attention model based on the characteristics of smoke images. This model adopted multiple optimized attention mechanism in several stages to quickly and precisely capture the important features,achieving state-of-the-art performance on smoke and fire recognition in terms of accuracy and speed. Our proposed module mainly consists of two stages: pooling and attention. In the first stage, we conducted several newly proposed first-order pooling methods. Through traversing the data space in a larger scope, features are better reserved, thus constructing a more intact feature space of smoke and fire in an image. In the second stage, feature maps are aggregated together to perform channel and spatial attention. The channel and spatial dependencies allow us to quickly catch the important features presented in an image. By fully exploring the feature space and prominent salient features, characteristics of smoke and fire are better presented so as to obtain better smoke and fire detection results. Surface thiolates play important roles in evincing the structures and properties of thiolated metal nanoclusters—one type of recently emerging inorganic-organic hybrids,and thus the thiolate substitution,especially single thiolate substitution,is highly desirable for subtly tailoring the structures and properties of metal ***,such a single-thiolate substituting is challenging,and its influence on the metal-metal and metal-sulfur bonds remains mysterious due to the absence of the singlethiolate-substituted ***,we developed a combined method,concurrently synthesized the single-thiolate-substituted nanocluster and its parent nanocluster,and successfully resolved their structures by single crystal X-ray crystallography,which reveals that the single thiolate substitute has an obvious influence on the metal-metal and metal-sulfur bond lengths although it has no effect on the absorption ***,the metal-metal and metal-sulfur bonds show various thermal extensibility and even the negative thermal expansion phenomena of the Au–S bond were observed in the single-thiolate-substituted *** bond length-related stability was also ***,this study highlights a novel synthesis method and offers novel structural insights and an in-depth structure-property correlation of thiolated metal nanoclusters.
