Intelligent Resource Allocations for Software-Defined Mission-Critical IoT Services

Heterogeneous Internet of Things(IoT)applications generate a diversity of novelty applications and services in next-generation networks(NGN),which is essential to guarantee end-to-end(E2E)communication resources for both control plane(CP)and data plane(DP).Likewise,the heterogeneous 5th generation(5G)communication applications,including Mobile Broadband Communications(MBBC),massive Machine-Type Commutation(mMTC),and ultra-reliable low latency communications(URLLC),obligate to perform intelligent Quality-of-Service(QoS)Class Identifier(QCI),while the CP entities will be suffered from the complicated massive HIOT ***,the existing management and orchestration(MANO)models are inappropriate for resource utilization and allocation in large-scale and complicated network *** cope with the issues mentioned above,this paper presents an adopted software-defined mobile edge computing(SDMEC)with a lightweight machine learning(ML)algorithm,namely support vector machine(SVM),to enable intelligent MANO for real-time and resource-constraints IoT applications which require lightweight computation ***,the SVM algorithm plays an essential role in performing QCI ***,the software-defined networking(SDN)controller allocates and configures priority resources according to the SVM classification ***,the complementary of SVM and SDMEC conducts intelligent resource MANO for massive QCI environments and meets the perspectives of mission-critical communication with resource constraint *** on the E2E experimentation metrics,the proposed scheme shows remarkable outperformance in key performance indicator(KPI)QoS,including communication reliability,latency,and communication throughput over the various powerful reference methods.

Microstructures of brazing zone between titanium alloy and stainless steel using various filler metals

Titanium alloy (Ti-Al-V alloy) substrate was brazed with stainless steel (STS304) using filler *** an optimized brazing condition,various filler metals were *** were observed at each *** metals were titanium based 40Ti-20Zr-20Cu-20Ni,silver based Ag 5Pd,and nickel based Ni-7Cr-3.1B-4.5Si-3Fe-0.06C (BNi2) and Ni-14Cr-10P-0.06C (BNi7).To select a good filler metal for brazing process,wetting test was performed at 880-1050 °*** was not brazed using silver based filler metals,but at the conditions using titanium and nickel based filler metals had brazed zone between titanium alloy and stainless ***,titanium alloy was eroded during brazing using titanium based filler *** based filler metal has a good brazed zone between titanium alloy and stainless steel among the filler metals.

Estimation of marine winds in and around typhoons using multi-platform satellite observations: Application to Typhoon Soulik (2018)

Estimating horizontal winds in and around typhoons is important for improved monitoring and prediction of typhoons and mitigating their ***,we present a new algorithm for estimating typhoon winds using multiple satellite observations and its application to Typhoon Soulik(2018).Four kinds of satellite remote sensing data,along with their relationship to typhoon intensity,derived statistically from hundreds of historical typhoon cases,were merged into the final product of typhoon wind(MT wind):(1)geostationarysatellite-based infrared images(IR wind),(2)passive microwave sounder(MW wind),(3)feature-tracked atmospheric motion vectors,and (4)scatterometer-based sea surface winds(SSWs).The algorithm was applied to two cases(A and B)of Typhoon Soulik and validated against SSWs independently retrieved from active microwave synthetic aperture radar(SAR)and microwave radiometer(AMSR2)images,and vertical profiles of wind speed derived from reanalyzed data and dropsonde *** Case A(open ocean),the algorithm estimated the realistic maximum wind,radius of maximum wind,and radius of 15 m/s,which could not be estimated using the reanalysis data,demonstrating reasonable and practical ***,for Case B(when the typhoon rapidly weakened just before making landfall in the Korean Peninsula),the algorithm significantly overestimated the parameters,primarily due to the overestimation of typhoon *** study highlights that realistic typhoon winds can be monitored continuously in real-time using multiple satellite observations,particularly when typhoon intensity is reasonably well predicted,providing timely analysis results and products of operational importance.

INVERTING GENERATING FUNCTIONS WITH INCREASED NUMERICAL PRECISION-A COMPUTATIONAL EXPERIENCE

In this paper, we consider the numerical inversion of a variety of generating functions （GFs） that arise in the area of engineering and non-engineering fields. Three classes of GFs are taken into account in a comprehensive manner： classes of probability generating functions （PGFs） that are given in rational and non-rational forms, and a class of GFs that are not PGFs. Among others, those PGFs that are not explicitly given but contain a number of unknowns are largely considered as they are often encountered in many interesting applied problems. For the numerical inversion of GFs, we use the methods of the discrete （fast） Fourier transform and the Taylor series expansion. Through these methods, we show that it is remarkably easy to obtain the desired sequence to any given accuracy, so long as enough numerical precision is used in computations. Since high precision is readily available in current software packages and programming languages, one can now lift, with little effort, the so-called Laplacian curtain that veils the sequence of interest. To demonstrate, we take a series of representative examples： the PGF of the number of customers in the discrete-time Geo^X/Geo/c queue, the same in the continuous-time M^X/D/c queue, and the GFs arising in the discrete-time renewal process.

Stud welding for fixation of cryogenic insulation of membrane tanks in LNG ship building

The support plates including all of the inner hulls such as E grade steel, weld seams and SUS304L were considered to establish the optimal stud welding condition in LNG ship building. The stainless steel plate was especially applied to the bracket on the liquid dome. The polished and etched surfaces of the welded stud and support plate were examined if the bead was properly formed. With the micrographic examination, the fusion boundary of metal weld zone formed by stud welding was analyzed to optimize the welding parameters. And also the analysis of the unacceptable welding faults such as cold and hot weld were performed. The mechanical tests such as tensile tests and bending tests were carried out to reveal any abnormal variation in the relationship of process parameters and the strength.

A Unified Buffering Management with Set Divisible Cache for PCM Main Memory

This research proposes a phase-change memory （PCM） based main memory system with an effective combi- nation of a superblock-based adaptive buffering structure and its associated set divisible last-level cache （LLC）. To achieve high performance similar to that of dynamic random-access memory （DRAM） based main memory, the superblock-based adaptive buffer （SABU） is comprised of dual DRAM buffers, i.e., an aggressive superblock-based pre-fetching buffer （SBPB） and an adaptive sub-block reusing buffer （SBRB）, and a set divisible LLC based on a cache space optimization scheme. According to our experiment, the longer PCM access latency can typically be hidden using our proposed SABU, which can significantly reduce the number of writes over the PCM main memory by 26.44%. The SABU approach can reduce PCM access latency up to 0.43 times, compared with conventional DRAM main memory. Meanwhile, the average memory energy consumption can be reduced by 19.7%.

Insect community structures along elevation gradients on ***-san, South Korea

Insect communities along three elevation gra- dients on Mt. Seongak-san, South Korea, were investigated from May to September 2013 using traps in order to collect basic data for distributional monitoring of species in a forest ecosystem. A total of 2698 individuals of 309 moth species of 18 families were collected in bucket-light traps, along with 196 individuals of 26 ground-beetle species and 11,276 individuals of 14 ant species in pit-fall traps. The insect community at each site was analyzed using analysisof variance and non-metric multidimensional scaling （NMS）. The ground-beetle and ant abundances varied with elevation. The NMS showed distinct clusters of moths between the ground-beetle and ant distributions with ele- vation and month. The community-level responses of these insect groups to those gradients were analyzed.

In trace metal (TM)-contaminated agricultural soils,management of TM availability is important for safe crop *** addition,maintenance or improvement of soil quality is vital for sustainable crop *** TM phytoavailability and increased soil quality can be achieved by the application of various immobilizing agents to soil,which can supply both macronutrients and organic *** study investigated the long-term influences of four common immobilizing agents on soil biogeochemical properties and the phytoavailability of TMs in mixed metal-contaminated soil from a cultivated upland near an abandoned mining *** (L),gypsum (G),fly ash (F),and animal manure-based compost (C) were applied to pots containing contaminated soil,either individually or in *** incubation for three years under sequential cultivation of two crops and fallow,soil biogeochemical properties were determined,and Brassica rapa plant bioassay was *** phytoavailability of all TMs (both cationic metals and anionic metalloids) remained significantly lower in soils treated with immobilizing agents even after three years,when compared with the no-agent control (CK) *** addition,the soil quality was significantly improved by treatment with immobilizing *** instance,the C and L+C treatments were the most effective in improving soil physical (bulk density,porosity,and water-resistant aggregate stability),chemical (pH,organic matter,total nitrogen,cation exchange capacity,and plant-available phosphorus,magnesium,and potassium),and biological (microbial biomass carbon and dehydrogenase activity) *** improvement of soil properties and lowering of TM bioavailability were also consistent with the most significant increase in *** biomass production observed in the C treatment,followed by the L+C,G+F,L,G,F,and L+G treatments,as compared with that in *** results indicate that the function of the TM-immobilizing agent as a soil qualit
