In order to forecast promising technologies in the field of next generation mobile communication, various patent indicators were analyzed such as citation per patent, patent family information, patent share, increase rate, and patent activity. These indicators were quantified into several indexes and then integrated into an evaluation score to provide promising technologies. As a result of the suggested patent analysis, four technologies out of twenty two in details classification were selected, which showed outstanding technology competitiveness, high patent share and increasing rates as well as high recent-patent-ratios and triad-patent-family-ratios. Each of the selected technologies scored more than 10 points in total, and the following four technologies were suggested as promising ones in the field of next generation mobile communication: 1) 3GPP based mobile communication, 2) beyond 4G mobile communication, 3) IEEE 802.16 based mobile communication, which are in medium classification of broadband mobile communication system, and 4) testing/certification system of mobile communication, which is in medium classification of mobile communication testing/certification system.

BACKGROUND Liver stiffness measurement(LSM)tends to overestimate fibrosis stage in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(naFLD).Controlled attenuation parameter(CAP),provided by LSM device,has been introduced for noninvasive quantification of hepatic *** To determine the role of CAP values in predicting liver fibrosis stage by LSM in nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(naSH).METHODS One hundred eighty-four patients with biopsy proven naSH had LSM and CAP evaluated at *** them,130 patients had 1-year follow up LSM and analyzed for the changes of LSM after pioglitazone or ursodeoxycholic acid(UDCA)*** In Kleiner fibrosis stage F0-1,LSM values increased at higher CAP tertile(P=0.001),and in F2,at middle and higher tertiles(P=0.027).No difference across CAP tertiles was noticed in F3-4(P=0.752).Receiver operating characteristic curve for LSM cutoff in diagnosis of F≥2 identified 8.05 kPa for lower CAP tertile,9.35 kPa for middle,and 10.55 kPa for high *** changes in proportion of significant fibrosis(F≥2)were assessed among pioglitazone and UDCA treated patients considering CAP values,pioglitazone treated patients demonstrated decrease in proportion of high *** In patient with naFLD,interpretation of LSM in association with CAP scores may provide helpful information sparing unnecessary liver biopsy.

Historically, the lack of melanocytes in the vaginal and cervical mucus membranes has deterred the findings of primary melanomas. Mainly due to its rarity, difficulty to diagnose, and poor prognosis, there has been no absolute agreement on comprehensive treatment so far. In this case report, we present a case of a 46-year-old woman with primary malignant melanoma of uterine cervix. She underwent neo-adjuvant chemotherapy initially followed by a radical hysterectomy. After adjuvant concurrent chemo-radiation, the patient has been followed up for 24 months. So far, she has not shown any symptoms or signs of recurrence. Further studies with more cases based on variable combinations of treatment regimen have been on the way.

To directly assess the molecular function of the monkey 20α-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase （20α-HSD） promoter, we generated transgenic mice （tg） expressing enhanced green fluorescent protein （EGFP） under control of this promoter. We demonstrated that prostaglandin F2α induced 20α-HSD promoter activity in CHO cells in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, forskolin treatment markedly reduced 20α-HSD promoter activity, and prolactin exhibited weak inhibitory activity. The transgenic mouse obtained one positive founder male. The transgene was propagated in 10 successive generations without any notable defects to the progeny. EGFP and 20α-HSD in the tg mice were colocalized in the luteal cells of the ovary during late pregnancy. Strong EGFP and 20et-HSD protein signals were also detected in the adult testis. Immtmohistochemical analysis revealed high EGFP levels in the seminiferous epithelium, whereas 20α-HSD was expressed in the seminiferous tubules. Our data suggest that the ovaries in monkey and mouse exhibit similar expression patterns of 20α-HSD during pregnancy. However, the expression pattern of EGFP in tg mice testis slightly differed from that of the endogenous 20α-HSD. Further investigation is required to elucidate the functional mechanisms underlying regulation of the monkey 20α-HSD promoter in the tg mice.

ZrO2 nanoparticles were prepared under high temperature and high pressure conditions by precipitation from metal nitrates with aqueous potassium hydroxide. The effects of synthesis parameters, such as the concentration of starting solution, pH of starting solution, reaction temperature and time, were discussed. The results show that the ZrO2 nanoparticles are obtained at 230-270 ℃. The average size and size distribution of the synthesized particles are below 10 nm and narrow, respectively. The XRD pattern shows that the synthesized particles are composed of crystalline. The synthesis of ZrO2 nanosized crystalline particles is possible under glycothermal conditions in ethylene glycol solution.

Risk factors for postoperative recurrence after primary bowel resection in patients with Crohn's disease

AIM To evaluate the risk factors for postoperative recurrence after primary bowel resection in a cohort of Korean Crohn's disease(CD) *** This study included 260 patients with no history of previous bowel surgery who underwent primary surgery for CD between January 2000 and December 2010 at Asan Medical Center(Seoul, South Korea). The median follow-up period was 101 *** During the follow-up period, 66 patients(25.4%) underwent a second operation for disease *** 1, 5 and 10 years after the first operation, the cumulative rate of surgical recurrence was 1.1%, 8.3% and 35.9% and clinical recurrence occurred in 1.2%, 23.6% and 68.1%, respectively. In multivariate analysis, undergoing an emergency operation was a significant risk factor for surgical recurrence-free survival(SRFS) [HR = 2.431, 95%CI: 1.394-4.240, P = 0.002], as were the presence of perianal disease after the first operation(HR = 1.715, 95%CI: 1.005-2.926, P = 0.048) and history of smoking(HR = 1.798, 95%CI: 1.088-2.969, P = 0.022). The postoperative use of antitumor necrosis factor(TNF) agents reduced SRFS risk(HR = 0.521, 95%CI: 0.300-0.904, P = 0.02).CONCLUSION History of smoking, postoperative perianal disease and undergoing an emergency operation were independent risk factors for surgical recurrence. Using anti-TNF agents may reduce surgical recurrence.

Dominant intermediate Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease type C（DI-CMTC） is a dominantly inherited neuropathy that has been classified primarily based on motor conduction velocity tests but is now known to involve axonal and demyelination ***-CMTC is linked to tyrosyl-t Rna synthetase（YARS）-associated neuropathies,which are caused by E196 K and G41 R missense mutations and a single de novo deletion（153-156 del VKQV）.It is well-established that these YARS mutations induce neuronal dysfunction,morphological symptoms involving axonal degeneration,and impaired motor *** present study is the first to describe a novel mouse model of YARS-mutation-induced neuropathy involving a neuron-specific promoter with a deleted mitochondrial targeting sequence that inhibits the expression of YARS protein in the *** adenovirus vector system and in vivo techniques were utilized to express YARS fusion proteins with a Flag-tag in the spinal cord,peripheral axons,and dorsal root *** transfection of YARS-expressing viruses,the distributions of wild-type（WT） YARS and E196 K mutant proteins were compared in all expressed regions; G41 R was not *** proportion of Flag/green fluorescent protein（GFP） double-positive signaling in the E196 K mutant-type mice did not significantly differ from that of WT mice in dorsal root ganglion *** adenovirus genes,and even the empty vector without the YARS gene,exhibited GFP-positive signaling in the ventral horn of the spinal cord because GFP in an adenovirus vector is driven by a cytomegalovirus *** present study demonstrated that anatomical differences in tissue can lead to dissimilar expressions of YARS ***,use of this novel animal model will provide data regarding distributional defects between mutant and WT genes in neurons,the DICMTC phenotype,and potential treatment approaches for this disease.

BACKGROUND Diverse presentations of dens invaginatus (DI) and root canal treatment with an immature open apex often pose challenges to dentists. Adequate treatment planning for DI is the main reason for successful approach, i.e., we should consider the shape and depth of the concave folding, the condition of the original pulp, and the growth stage of the root formation. CASE SUMMARY A 9-year-old girl complained of severe pain of the right maxillary incisor (tooth 12) when chewing for two weeks. Following clinical and radiographic examinations, Oehlers type III DI of tooth 12, with an immature open apical foramen and a symptomatic periapical pathosis, was diagnosed. Cone-beam computed tomography verified the specific spatial and stereoscopic data regarding the communication between the main root canal and pseudo root canal of the involved tooth. After removing the source of infection, a mineral trioxide aggregate was selected to fill and seal the pseudo root canal;additionally, pulp capping of the main canal was performed through the interconnections between the root canals in the middle segment to preserve pulp vitality and enable continual root formation and eventual root apex closure. CONCLUSION We propose to conduct main root canal pulp capping for DI with communication between the main and pseudo root canals.
