Coastal marine management is vital for socio-ecological sustainability of developing,tropical ecosystems,which calls for diverse tools to monitor and assess water *** carbonatedominated habitats off Zanzibar were chosen for study due to potential water quality degradation in a rapidly developing tourist destination heavily reliant on its coral *** reefs are largely unmonitored and subject to local and global stressors.A widely used method for assessing reef health,as an early detection method of ecological changes,is the application of large benthic foraminiferal bioindicators,i.e.,the fo RAM *** expected to find poor water quality conditions in the unmanaged reefs supported by stress-toelerant(opportunistic)foraminiferal *** dissolved inorganic nitrogen and phosphate values derived from untreated sewage effluent from Stone Town were highly variable(ranging 0.05–3.77 and 0.05–1.45μM,respectively),moderate,and occasionally approached or exceeded critical threshold values for oligotrophic *** analysis of total assemblages indicated an abundance of symbiont-bearing large benthic foraminifera,dominated by prolific Amphistegina species,comparatively low-moderate diversity,high FI values(7.6 on average),and high coral cover.A water quality gradient was reflected by subtle assemblage differences,suggesting that LBF can provide early warning signals of benthic changes,indicating the importance of long-term monitoring programs in vulnerable,rapidly developing coastal ecosystems exposed to increasing pressures.

We investigate the geology of Altar north(Cu-Au) and Quebrada de la Mina(Au) porphyry deposits located in San Juan Province(Argentina), close to the large Altar porphyry copper deposit(995 Mt,0.35% Cu, 0.083 g/t Au), to present constraints on the magmatic processes that occurred in the parental magma chambers of these magmatic-hydrothermal systems. Altar north deposit comprises a plagioclase-amphibole-phyric dacite intrusion(Altar north barren porphyry) and a plagioclaseamphibole-biotite-phyric dacite stock(Altar north mineralized porphyry, 11.98 ± 0.19 Ma). In Quebrada de la Mina, a plagioclase-amphibole-biotite-quartz-phyric dacite stock(QDM porphyry,11.91±0.33 Ma) crops out. High Sr/Y ratios(92-142) and amphibole compositions of Altar north barren and QDM porphyries reflect high magmatic oxidation states(fo_2= nnO+1.1 to+1.6) and high fH_2O conditions in their magmas. Zones and rims enriched in anorthite(An_(37-48))), SrO(0.22-0.33 wt.%)and FeO(0.21-0.37 wt.%) in plagioclase phenocrysts are evidences of magmatic recharge processes in the magma chambers. Altar north and Quebrada de la Mina intrusions have relatively homogeneous isotopic compositions(^(87)Sr/^(86)Sr_(t)= 0.70450-0.70466, ε_(nD)(t) = +0.2 to +1.2) consistent with mixed mantle and crust contributions in their magmas. Higher Pb isotopes ratios(^(207)Pb/^(204)Pb=15.6276-15.6294) of these intrusions compared to other porphyries of the district, reflect an increase in the assimilation of high radiogenic Pb components in the magmas. Ages of zircon xenocrysts(297,210,204,69 Ma) revealed that the magmas have experienced assimilation of Miocene, Cretaceous, Triassic and Carboniferous crustal *** that precipitated sulfides in the Altar deposit may have remobilized Pb from the host rocks, as indicated by the ore minerals being more radiogenic(207Pb/204 Pb = 15.6243-15.6269) than their host intrusions. Cadmium(Cd),a life threatening hazardous heavy metal is abundant in *** amounts are greater in leaves than other plant parts,and it shows considerable effects on *** oxide(nO),a free radical present in living organisms,is now known as an important signaling molecule playing various physiological processes in *** this study,the possible ameliorative effect of nO on photosynthesis was examined on pea seedlings grown under Cd *** showed that chlorophyll,net photosynthetic rate,transpiration rate,stomatal conductance,photochemical efficiency of Photosystem II and Photosystem I decreased,and fo and nonphotochemical parameters for PSII and PSI significantly increased due to Cd *** suggests that Cd affects the photochemistry efficiency at both the PSII and PSI *** oxide supplementation through SnP ameliorated Cd stress by enhancing all the above mentioned parameters but causing a reduction in the fo,and non-photochemical parameters of PSII and PSI in pea *** data indicate that the exogenous application of nO was useful in mitigating Cd-induced damage to photosynthesis in pea seedling.

Typical formulated broiler diets are deficient in n-3 poly-unsaturated fatty acids(PUFA) due to widening n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio which could greatly affect performance,immune system of birds and,more importantly,meat *** study was conducted to evaluate the effect of modifying dietary n-6:n-3 PUFA ratio from plant and animal oil sources on performance,behavior,cytokine m RnA expression,antioxidative status and meat fatty acid profile of broiler ***(n=420) were fed 7 diets enriched with different dietary oil sources and ratios as follows: sunflower oil in control diet(C); fish oil(fo); 1:1 ratio of sunflower oil to fo(C1 fo1); 3:1 ratio of sunflower oil to fish oil(C3 fo1); linseed oil(LO); 1:1 ratio of sunflower oil to linseed oil(C1 LO1); 3:1 ratio of sunflower oil to linseed oil(C3 LO1),resulting in dietary n-6:n-3 ratios of approximately 40:1,1.5:1,4:1,8:1,1:1,2.5:1 and 5:1,*** best final body weight,feed conversion ratio as well as protein efficiency ratio of broilers were recorded in the C1 fo1 and C1 LO1 *** with the control group,the dressing percentage and breast and thigh yield were highest in the C1 fo1 and C1 LO1 *** the dietary n-6:n-3 ratio increased(P n-3 PUFA content of breast ***,the breast meat contents of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid increased(P ncreasing dietary fo whereas a-linolenic acid content was higher with LO ***,enriching the diets with n-3 PUFA from fo and LO clearly decreased(P nd very low-density lipoproteins and enhanced antioxidative *** feeding frequency was decreased(P n the C1 fo1 and C1 LO1 ***,n-3 PUFA-enriched diets enhanced the frequency of preening,wing flapping and *** oil source addition,compared to plant oil,to broiler diets enhanced the relative m RnA expression of interferon gamma,interleukin-1 beta,interleukin-2 and

AIM： To assess the usefulness of FibroTest to forecast scores by constructing decision trees in patients with chronic hepatitis C.METHODS： We used the C4.5 classification algorithm to construct decision trees with data from 261 patients with chronic hepatitis C without a liver biopsy. The FibroTest attributes of age, gender, bilirubin, apolipoprotein, haptoglobin, α2 macroglobulin, and γ-glutamyl transpeptidase were used as predictors, and the FibroTest score as the target. for testing, a 10-fold cross validation was used.RESULTS： The overall classification error was 14.9% （accuracy 85.1%）. FibroTest＇s cases with true scores of fo and F4 were classified with very high accuracy （18/20 for fo, 9/9 for fo-1 and 92/96 for F4） and the largest confusion centered on F3. The algorithm produced a set of compound rules out of the ten classification trees and was used to classify the 261 patients. The rules for the classification of patients in fo and F4 were effective in more than 75% of the cases in which they were tested.COnCLUSIOn： The recognition of clinical subgroups should help to enhance our ability to assess differences in fibrosis scores in clinical studies and improve our understanding of fibrosis progression,

Background： The effect of time of fecal sampling on the accuracy of acid-detergent insoluble ash （ADIA） and alkaline-peroxide lignin （APL） for the prediction of fecal output （fo） in cattle was evaluated. Eight ruminally cannulated cows （594 _＋ 35.5 kg） were allocated randomly to 4 bermudagrass [Cynodon dactylon （L.） Pers.] hay diets markedly different in crude protein concentration （79-164 g/kg） with 2 replicates per diet for 3 periods. Cows were offered hay individually at 20 g DM/kg of body weight daily in equal feedings at 08：00 and 16：00 h for a 10-d adaptation period followed by 5-d of total fecal collection. Fecal grab samples also were taken each day during the fecal collection period at 06：00, 12：00, 18：00, and 24：00 h either directly from the rectum or from freshly voided feces. Samples were composited within cow and time across the 5 d total fecal collection period. Additionally, forage, ort, and fecal samples were analyzed for concentrations of APL and ADIA. Results： Fecal concentrations of ADIA and APL were not affected by sampling time （P 〉 0.22）, even though diet affected （P 〈 0.01） fecal ADIA and APL concentrations. There were no diet x sampling time interactions （P ≥ 0.60）. Estimates of fo and dry matter digestibility （DMD） from ADIA and APL were not affected （P 〉 0.16） by sampling time or the diet x sampling time interaction （P 〉 0.74）. Estimates of fo and DMD from markers from different sampling times or all different combinations of sampling time were not different （P 〉 0.72） from those of total collection among internal markers. Conclusion： Little variation in concentrations of ADIA and APL in daily fecal excretion across time increases flexibility in fecal grab sampling schedules for predicting fo and DMD.
