The aim of this study is to produce large quantities of yam tubers in the field from seed tubers derived from vitroplants regenerated from aerial stem cuttings and farmers’ tuber seeds. Seed tubers from ten yam cultivars, including five from Dioscorea alata (cDa083, cDa053, cDa115, cDa150 and cDa266) and five from Dioscorea cayenensis-rotundata (cDr015, cDr027, cDr150, cDr206 and cDr148) with distinct agro-morphological characteristics, were used as material. A completely randomized block design with 3 replications was used. In each block, all cultivars and seed types were represented. When put into cultivation, the tubers produced by the vitroplants all germinated and gave 100% healthy plants, compared with 86% to 100% healthy plants for the seed tubers produced by the farmers. Yields per hectare ranged from 10 to 25 tonnes for seed tubers produced by in vitro plants, and from 4 to 9 tons for seed tubers produced by farmers. Seed tubers from vitroplants can therefore be recommended to farmers as a solution to the problem of seed tuber unavailability.

High-performance doping-free carbon-nanotube-based CMOS devices and integrated circuits

＜正＞ Based on the density functional theory, we demonstrate that Aun clusters can have cage-like structures. The cage consisting of 32 Au atoms has an icosahedral symmetry with a large energy gap of 1.56 eV, suggesting high stability and chemical inertness. The calculations show the cage-like structure is stabilized by the relativistic effect.

Ballistic n-type carbon nanotube(CnT)-based field-effect transistors(FETs) have been fabricated by contacting semiconducting single-walled CnTs(SWCnTs) using Sc or *** n-type CnT FETs were pushed to their performance limits through further optimizing their gate structure and *** CnT FETs outperformed n-type Si metal-oxide-semiconductor(MOS) FETs with the same gate length and displayed better downscaling behavior than the Si MOS *** with the demonstration of ballistic p-type CnT FETs using Pd contacts,this technological advance is a step toward the doping-free fabrication of CnT-based ballistic complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor(CMOS) devices and integrated *** full advantage of the perfectly symmetric band structure of the semiconductor SWCnT,a perfect SWCnT-based CMOS inverter was demonstrated,which had a voltage gain of over *** adjacent n-and p-type FETs fabricated on the same SWCnT with a self-aligned top-gate realized high field mobility simultaneously for electrons(3000 cm2 V-1 s-1) and holes(3300 cm2 V-1 s-1).The CnT FETs also had excellent potential for high-frequency applications,such as a high-performance frequency doubler.

Real-time time-dependent density functional theory(TDDFT)is presently the most accurate available method for computing electronic stopping powers from first ***,obtaining application-relevant results often involves either costly averages over multiple calculations or ad hoc selection of a representative ion *** consider a broadly applicable,quantitative metric for evaluating and optimizing trajectories in this *** methodology enables rigorous analysis of the failure modes of various common trajectory choices in crystalline *** randomly selecting trajectories is common practice in stopping power calculations in solids,we show that nearly 30%of random trajectories in an FCC aluminum crystal will not representatively sample the material over the time and length scales feasibly simulated with TDDFT,and unrepresentative choices incur errors of up to 60%.We also show that finite-size effects depend on ion trajectory via“ouroboros”effects beyond the prevailing plasmon-based interpretation,and we propose a cost-reducing scheme to obtain converged results even when expensive core-electron contributions preclude large *** work helps to mitigate poorly controlled approximations in first-principles stopping power calculations,allowing 1–2 order of magnitude cost reductions for obtaining representatively averaged and converged results.

The title compound has been synthesized and its crystal structure was determined by X-ray crystallographic *** crystal is triclinic,space group P-1,with unit cell dimensions a=6.146 (5),b=8.473(6),c=14.383(5)(?);a=77.47(4),β=82.84(4),γ=69.00(8)°and Z=*** results obtained reveal that the molecule of the title compound keeps a long conjugative system in- volving C=C double bond,cyclopropane ring,carbonyl group and isoxazolinone ring and adopts a low energy conformation including s-trans of C=C double bond,s-cis of carbonyl group with respect to the three-membered ring and like-s-trans of carbonyl group with the carbonyl group within the heterocyclic moiety.

The maximum of g2-d2 for linear [n, k, d; q] codes C is studied. Here d2 is the smallest size of the support of 2-dimensional subcodes of C and g2 is the smallest size of the support of 2-dimensional subcodes of C which contains a codeword of weight d. The extra cost to the greedy adversary to get two symbols of information using some algorithm is g2-d2. For codes satisfying the fullrank condition of general dimensions, upper bounds on the maximum of g2-d2 are given. Under some condition we have got code C where g2-d2 reaches the upper bound.
