Summer extreme precipitation patterns and synoptic-scale circulation precursors over the Tibetan Plateau

In the context of global warming,the extreme summer precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau(TP)has changed *** this study,the summer(June–August)extreme precipitation on the TP was classified into three spatial types by applying the K-means clustering method to the Third Pole Region long time-series high-resolution(1/30°)precipitation dataset(TPHi Pr,1979–2020).The characteristics of the circulation anomalies and precursors corresponding to the extreme precipitation on the TP in summer during 1979–2020 were *** results showed that the summer extreme precipitation of the TP can be categorized into northwestern(nW),southeastern(SE),and southern Himalayan(HS)types based on extreme precipitation *** nW and SE types are mainly influenced by anomalous signals in the mid-to-high latitude regions upstream of them,whereas the HS type is controlled by the localized subtropical anomalous *** the 8th day before the onset of the nW type,an anomalous cyclone was observed in the western Atlantic Ocean(60°W,50°n),which triggered the west-to-east quasi-latitudinal propagation of Rossby *** the onset day of the nW type,the upper troposphere showed positive-negative-positive geopotential height anomalies along the latitudinal 40°n from the Caspian Sea,the western part of Xinjiang,to the northeastern *** entered from the Arabian Sea along the southeastern edge of the anomalous cyclone on the southwestern TP and converged in the northwestern *** to the nW type,the precursors of the SE type appeared at higher latitudes and were more *** the 8th day before the onset of the SE type,an anomalous cyclone occurred near Greenland(60°W,70°n)and excited Rossby waves propagating *** the onset day of the SE type,the upper troposphere showed negative-positive-negative geopotential height anomalies across Eurasia from the Ural Mountains and the Iranian Plateau to the northern TP in the northwest-southeast directi

Probiotics intervention in colorectal cancer:From traditional approaches to novel strategies

The discovery of efficient,selective,and stable electrocatalysts can be a key point to produce the largescale chemical fuels via electrochemical CO_(2) reduction(ECR).In this study,an earth-abundant and nontoxic ZnO-based electrocatalyst was developed for use in gas-diffusion electrodes(GDE),and the effect of nitrogen(n)doping on the ECR activity of ZnO electrocatalysts was ***,a ZnO nanosheet was prepared via the hydrothermal method,and nitridation was performed at different times to control the n-doping *** an increase in the n-doping content,the morphological properties of the nanosheet changed significantly,namely,the 2D nanosheets transformed into irregularly shaped ***,the ECR performance of Zn O electrocatalysts with different n-doping content was assessed in 1.0 M KHCO_(3) electrolyte using a gas-diffusion electrode-based ECR *** the ECR activity increased after a small amount of n doping,it decreased for higher n doping *** them,the n:ZnO-1 h electrocatalysts showed the best CO selectivity,with a faradaic efficiency(FE_(CO))of 92.7%at-0.73 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE),which was greater than that of an undoped Zn O electrocatalyst(FE_(CO)of 63.4%at-0.78 V_(RHE)).Also,the n:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst exhibited outstanding durability for 16 h,with a partial current density of-92.1 mA cm^(-2).This improvement of n:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst can be explained by density functional theory calculations,demonstrating that this improvement of n:ZnO-1 h electrocatalyst comes from(ⅰ)the optimized active sites lowering the free energy barrier for the rate-determining step(RDS),and(ⅱ)the modification of electronic structure enhancing the electron transfer rate by n doping.

The polymeric gel electrolytes are attractive owing to their higher ionic conductivities than those of dry polymer electrolytes and lowered water activity for enlarged potential ***,the ionic conductivity and mechanical strength of the na-ion conducting polymeric gel electrolytes are limited by below 20 mS cm−1 and 2.2 ***,we demonstrate na-ion conducting and flexible polymeric hydrogel electrolytes of the chemically coupled poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride)-dextrin-n,n′-methylene-bisacrylamide film immersed in naClO_(4) solution(ex-DDA-Dex+naClO_(4))for flexible sodium-ion hybrid capacitors(f-nIHC).In particular,the anion exchange reaction and synergistic interaction of ex-DDA-Dex with the optimum ClO_(4)−enable to greatly improve the ionic conductivity up to 27.63 mS cm−1 at 25◦C and electrochemical stability window up to 2.6 V,whereas the double networking structure leads to achieve both the mechanical strength(7.48 MPa)and softness of hydrogel ***,the f-nIHCs with the ex-DDA-Dex+naClO_(4) achieved high specific and high-rate capacities of 192.04 F g^(−1)at 500 mA g^(−1)and 116.06 F g^(−1)at 10000 mA g^(−1),respectively,delivering a large energy density of 120.03Wh kg^(−1)at 906Wkg^(−1)and long cyclability of 70%over 500 cycles as well as demonstrating functional operation under mechanical stresses.

Technical efficiency of cocoa farms at varying elevation levels in Davao City, Philippines: implications to sustainable upland farming systems

Elevation is one of many components that influence agriculture, and this in turn affects the level of both inputs and outputs of farmers. This article focuses on the productivity and technical efficiency of 100 cocoa farms using cross-sectional data from areas ranging from 190 to 1021 m above sea level which were classified as low, medium, and high elevation in Davao City, considered as the chocolate capital of the Philippines. Using stochastic frontier analysis, the results showed that the cost of inputs per ha and the number of cocoa trees per ha significantly increase yield. Farms at high elevations were less technically efficient, as this entails lower temperatures and increased rainfall, and cocoa farming in those areas and conditions can be more challenging, especially with changes in farming practices, terrain, and distance to markets. Other significant variables were age of cocoa farms, married farmers, and age of the farmers. Older farms may be more developed, farmers who are married benefit from their spouses being able to readily contribute as farm labor, and lastly, older farmers' inefficiency may likely stem from nonadaptation of newer farming practices. With an average technical efficiency of 0.61, 0.63, and 0.26 in low, medium, and high elevation areas, respectively, farmers therefore have an incentive to improve farm practices and consider topographical variations found in high elevation areas. Recommendations for the improvement of technical efficiency of cocoa farms are better connectivity to markets, enhancing farm practices, and continuation and improvement of government programs on cocoa with an added emphasis on research. For farmers in high elevation areas, mitigating solutions such as sustainable agriculture practices and ecolabelling are key to improving efficiency and minimizing the potential negative impact on upland farming systems. 为了阐明交通对青藏高原敏感脆弱生态系统和主要生态安全屏障功能的影响,在G214、G213、G345、G109、G316和G317等国道部分路段,采集路边0~25 m范围内土壤样品,分析6种土壤重金属含量及分布特征,运用单因子污染指数法(P_(i))、内梅罗综合指数法(P_n)及潜在生态风险指数法(RI)对路侧土壤重金属的污染程度及潜在生态风险进行综合评价.结果表明,青藏高原重要交通国道路侧土壤重金属ω(As)、ω(Cd)、ω(Hg)、ω(ni)、ω(Pb)和ω(Zn)分别介于5.65~176.00、0.04~0.27、0.01~0.14、9.52~113.00、9.16~54.50和24.70~109.00 mg·k^(-1),呈高度变异,部分采样路段存在As、Cd和Hg元素高于当地土壤背景值.路侧土壤重金属单因子污染指数大小为:P_(i)(As)>P_(i)(Hg)>P_(i)(Cd)>P_(i)(Pb)>P_(i)(ni)>P_(i)(Zn),内梅罗综合污染指数在0.41~9.20,平均值为1.53,属于清洁或轻度污染,局部处于中度或重度污染.研究路段综合潜在生态风险指数平均值为106.2,土壤总体处于无污染和轻度污染,仅有两个路段的土壤重金属富集达到中等及强度生态危害,其G213a土壤综合潜在风险指数显示为中度至重度生态危害,主要受到Hg、As和Cd的影响,G317土壤综合潜在风险指数显示为轻度至中度生态危害,主要受到Hg和Cd的影响.青藏高原路侧土壤重金属含量与路侧距离及土壤深度没有显著相关性,与年均气温呈显著正相关(P<0.05).青藏高原道路建设人为活动剧烈、交通流量较大的区域有土壤重金属富集趋势.
