The nanocrystalline samarium substituted Co-Zn ferrites with chemical formula Co0.7Zn0.3smyFe2-yO4(where y=0,0.01,0.02,0.03,0.04) were synthesized by sol-gel autocombustion *** analysis of Xray diffractograms(XRd) reveals the formation of cubic spinel *** planes indexed from XRd analyses were confirmed in the selected area electron diffraction(sAEd) image of the *** nature of the particles in the ferrite samples was confirmed by *** morphology was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(sEM).Magnetic measurements show an increase in the magnetization for x ≤*** decrease in magnetization due to spin canting is observed for x=*** coercivity depends on sm3+doping concentration,grain size and saturation *** complex permeability of the ferrites was analyzed as the function of frequency and sm3+composition(y).The real part of complex permeability varies linearly with the grain size.

Meizothrombin (MT) is one of prothrombin derivatives which appears in haemostasis activation area. However, its role in haemostasis regulation isn’t clear. We studied the role of MT in fibrin formation, platelet activation and aggregation. A new effective method of obtaining MT from native human prothrombin was developed using immobilised prothrombin activator from Echis multisquamatis venom. The protein was stable and electrophoretically pure. Platelet-rich plasma for aggregation study and gel-sieved platelets for flow-cytometry were separated from blood of healthy donors. It was shown that MT transformed fibrinogen to fibrin and activated clotting factor XIII. MT didn’t activate gel-sieved intact platelets, but in platelet-rich plasma, increased platelet aggregation induced by AdP, collagen and adrenalin.

samples of various concentrations were prepared and kept unsintered for a period of three years to study the consistency of composition prepared and structural evolution of glass. The expanded peaks in the Raman spectra arise due to thermal agitation, and a Boltzmann type of distribution was expected in the silicate gels. The behavior of the gels during the dehydroxylation and dehydration is conditioned by its microstructure,which depends upon the physical conditions, i.e., pH, and drying conditions.

The browning of fruits can be considered as an enzymatic oxidation which is believed to be one of the main causes of quality loss during post-harvest handling. The enzymes responsible for this are the oxidoreductases;the polyphenol oxidase (PPO) (monophenol, o-diphenol, oxygen oxidoreductase;EC 1.***.18.1) belongs to this group. This enzyme, which is found in the sapodilla plum (Achras sapota), was purified using a phenylsepharose and a sephacryls-200 columns. The molecular weight of the purified enzyme was estimated to be about 66 kda by gel filtration and 29 kda by sds-PAGE. A single protein band was found using the latter system (sds-PAGE), which shows that the PPO of the pulp of the sapodilla plum may be composed of two protein subunits with similar molecular weight. The optimum pH was 7.0 and the optimum temperature 60℃. The most effective inhibitors tested were ascorbic acid, sodium metabisulfite and acetic acid.

A novel anode material for all-vanadium redox flow battery was synthesized by dispersion coating of sol-gel processed(resorcinol-furaldehyde) mesoporous carbon(MPC) onto the surface of polyacrylonitrile carbon felt(CF).The coated samples were then annealed at 900℃ and1100℃ and the subsequent morphology,surface chemistry,and electrochemical properties of the MPC coated CF were characterized and compared with an uncoated *** of the MPC coating is shown to dramatically increase surface area while also increasing the number of active surface oxygen groups particularly for samples annealed at 1100℃.MPC coating shows a mixed effect on electrochemical *** with cyclic voltammetry reveals the introduction of MPC coating provides roughly 30%increase in peak current density for the oxidation and reduction reactions of the V(IV)/V(V) redox couple,which is attributed to the significantly increased number of active reaction ***,MPC coating seems to be accompanied by a reduction in conductivity as demonstrated by increased redox peak separation and charge transfer *** negative effect on conductivity can be mitigated by heat treatment(at or above 1100℃) which improves surface graphitization reducing redox peak separation and charge transfer resistance such that it is comparable with uncoated samples.

In this study, the synthesis of LiCosub>1-Xsub>smsub>Xsub>Osub>ysub> powders (X = 0.002, 0.004, 0.006, 0.008, and 0.1) by the sol-gel method and the influence of sm on their structural and morphological properties is reported for the first time. The results of x-ray diffraction (XRd) studies show that LiCoOsub>2sub> powders synthesized at temperatures up to 700°C present a characteristic hexagonal crystalline phase of the α-naFeOsub>2sub> type (space group R-3m), revealing a shift in the (0 0 3) Bragg reflection, which reflects the presence of sm in the crystalline structure. The morphology was spheroidal and, on average, 122 nm in size. Based on the data obtained, LiCosub>1-Xsub>smsub>Xsub>Osub>ysub> powders (X = 0.002, 0.004, 0.006, 0.008, and 0.1) show promise as a material for use in the cathodes of lithium-ion batteries.
