Grapevine rupestris stem pitting associated virus(GRSPaV)is one of the most widely distributed viruses;even so,little is known about its effect on Vitis *** provide new insights,the effects of single and mixed GRSPaV infections on the *** cultivar“Cabernet Sauvignon”were studied by evaluating growth parameters,such as measurements of the total plant length,the number and distance of internodes and the number of leaves per *** addition,parameters relating to gas exchange,i.e.,the stomatal conductance,net photosynthetic rate,internal CO2 concentration and leaf transpiration,were also *** the measurements were performed in one-and two-yearold plants with a single GRSPaV infection or mixed infections of GRSPaV and Grapevine fanleaf virus(GFLV).The results show that the plant phytosanitary status did not significantly alter the growth and gas exchange parameters in oneyear-old ***,in two-year-old plants,single GRSPaV infections increased shoot elongation,which was accompanied by the overexpression of genes associated with the gibberellic acid response *** gas exchange parameters of these plants were negatively affected,despite exhibiting higher LHCII gene *** with mixed infections did not have modified growth parameters,although they presented a greater reduction in the primary photosynthetic parameters evaluated with no change in LHCII *** results presented here confirm the co-evolution hypothesis for *** and GRSPaV during the early stages of plant development,and they provide new evidence about the effects of GRSPaV and GFLV co-infections on the“Cabernet Sauvignon”cultivar.

The aim of the present review is to highlight the possible neuroregenerative potential ol adipose-derived stem cells. The key property of stem cells is plasticity including self-renewal, multilineage differentiation, and migration, whereas the required property is transplantability. For a long time, embryonic stem cells were thought to be the only source of pluripotency, a dogma that has been challenged during the last decade. Today, an alternative option might be adipose-derived stem cells, as easily accessible, ethical and autologous cellular source. Recent knowledge of adipobiology increasingly recognizes that adipose tissue is the major endo- and paracrine organ of the human body. Likewise, numerous neuropetides, neurotrophic factors, neurotransmitters, hypothalamic and steroid hormones and their receptors are shared by adipose tissue and brain. Accordingly, the regenerative potential of neuroprotective factor-secreting adipose-derived stem cells is outlined. Whether the possible benefits of adipose stem cell-based therapy may be mediated via cell transdifferentiation and/or paracrine mechanisms remains to further be evaluated.

neurotrophic and metabotrophic potential of nerve growth factor and brain-derived neurotrophic factor: Linking cardiometabolic and neuropsychiatric diseases

One of biggest recent achievements of neurobiology is the study on neurotrophic factors. The neurotrophins are exciting examples of these factors. They belong to a family of proteins consisting of nerve growth fac-tor （nGF）, brain-derived neurotrophic factor （BDnF）, neurotrophin-3 （nT-3）, nT-4/5, nT-6, and nT-7. Today, nGF and BDnF are well recognized to mediate a diz-zying number of trophobiological effects, ranging from neurotrophic through immunotrophic and epitheliotro-phic to metabotrophic effects. These are implicated in the pathogenesis of various diseases. In the same vein, recent studies in adipobiology reveal that this tissue is the body’s largest endocrine and paracrine organ producing multiple signaling proteins collectively termed adipokines, with nGF and BDnF being also produced from adipose tissue. Altogether, neurobio-logy and adipobiology contribute to the improvement of our knowledge on diseases beyond obesity such as cardiometabolic （atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome） and neuropsychiatric （e.g. , Alzheimer’s disease and depression） diseases. The present review updates evidence for （1） neurotrophic and metabotrophic potentials of nGF and BDnF linking the pathogenesis of these diseases, and （2） nGF- and BDnF-mediated effects in ampakines, nMDA receptor antagonists, antidepressants, selective deacetylase inhibitors, statins, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma agonists, and purinergic P2X3 recep-tor up-regulation. This may help to construct a novel paradigm in the feld of translational pharmacology of neuro-metabotrophins, particularly nGF and BDnF.

To systematically review literature upon aetiology of nosocomial spontaneous bacterial peritonitis (n-SBP) given the rising importance of multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacteria. METHODSA literature search was performed on MEDLInE and Google Scholar databases from 2000 to 15th of november 2016, using the following search strategy: “spontaneous” AnD “peritonitis”. RESULTSThe initial search through electronic databases retrieved 2556 records. After removing duplicates, 1958 records remained. One thousand seven hundred and thirty-five of them were excluded on the basis of the screening of titles and abstract, and the ensuing number of remaining articles was 223. Of these records, after careful evaluation, only 9 were included in the qualitative analysis. The overall proportion of MDR bacteria turned out to be from 22% to 73% of cases across the studies. COnCLUSIOnn-SBP is caused, in a remarkable proportion, by MDR pathogens. This should prompt a careful re-assessment of guidelines addressing the treatment of this clinical entity.

Frying Performance of High Oleic Oil Enriched in Biophenols during Discontinuos and Prolonged Thermal Treatment

Biophenols are potent natural antioxidants that protect food quality by preventing oxidative deterioration of lipids. During heat treatment this protective rule prevents oxidation caused by many factors, as high temperature reached, presence of oxygen and water contained in food matrix. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frying performance of high oleic oil enriched in biophenols, comparing its thermal stability with those of high oleic oil (control sample) during thermo-oxidation and deep fat frying process. Positive effects when biophenols were added to oil were found: lower acidity levels, lower TPC values during the first 16 hours of heat treatment, absence of short chain fatty acids (C8:0) until 24 h of thermo-oxidation treatment and detection of lower acrylamide content in French friesrespect to those fried in the control oil.

Abscisic acid(ABA)is an important carotenoid-derived phytohormone that plays essential roles in plant response to biotic and abiotic stresses as well as in various physiological and developmental *** Arabidopsis,ABA biosynthesis starts with the epoxidation of zeaxanthin by the ABA DEFICIEnT 1(ABA1)enzyme,leading to epoxycarotenoids;e.g.,*** oxidative cleavage of 9-cis-epoxycaro-tenoids,a key regulatory step catalyzed by 9-C/S-EPOXYCAROTEnOID DIOXYGEnASE,forms xanthoxin,which is converted in further *** mediated by ABA DEFICIEnT 2(ABA2),ABA DEFICIEnT 3(ABA3),and ABSCISIC ALDEHYDE OXIDASE 3(AAO3)into *** combining genetic and biochemical approaches,we unravel here an ABA1-independent ABA biosynthetic pathway starting upstream of *** iden-tified the carotenoid cleavage products(i.e.,apocarotenoids,β-apo-11-carotenal,9-cis-β-apo-11-carotenal,3-OH-β-apo-11-carotenal,and 9-cis-3-OH-β-apo-11-carotenal)as intermediates of this ABA1-independent ABA biosynthetic *** labeled compounds,we showed thatβ-apo-11-carotenal,9-cis-β-apo-11-carotenal,and 3-OH-β-apo-11-carotenal are successively converted into 9-cis-3-OH-β-apo-11-carotenal,xanthoxin,and finally into ABA in both Arabidopsis and *** applied to Arabidopsis,theseβ-apo-11-carotenoids exert ABA biological functions,such as maintaining seed dormancy and inducing the expression of ABA-responsive ***,the transcdptomic analysis revealed a high overlap of differentially expressed genes regulated byβ-apo-11-carotenoids and ABA,suggesting thatβ-apo-11-carot-enoids exert ABA-independent regulatory *** together,our study identifies a biological function for the common plant metabolites,β-apo-11-carotenoids,extends our knowledge about ABA biosynthesis,and provides new insights into plant apocarotenoid metabolic networks.

Review of the outcomes of 25 prospective pregnancy reports in the Pregnancy Registry and reports from other sources does not suggest that treatment with rizatriptan predisposes patients to spontaneous abortions or congenital anomalies. Goals: To assess epidemiologic features and predictive factors of mortality of acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB). Study: During a 6-month period, a prospective population based study including all the UGB occurring in a geographic area of 3 million people was conducted. Data from cirrhotic patients were compared with those of noncirrhotic patients. Results: A total of 2,133 UGIB were recorded, 21.9%in cirrhotic patients (n = 468). Endoscopic hemostasis was performed in 46.5%and 8.3%in cirrhotic and noncirrhotic patients, respectively (P ng hospitalization was 23.5%in cirrhotic patients and 11.2%in noncirrhotic patients (P ndependent predictive factors of mortality were observed in both patient groups: a prothrombin level less than 40%, an UGIB occurring in inpatients, a concomitant digestive carcinoma, a hematemesis revealing the UGIB, a recent use of steroid drugs, and age over 60 years. Four other predictive factors of mortality were also identified in noncirrhotic patients. Conclusions: Although epidemiologic features, clinical course, management, and prognosis of UGIB were quite different in cirrhotic and noncirrhotic patients, the majority of predictive factors of mortality were the same in both patient groups. These data underline the major role of debilitated status and hepatic failure in the prognosis of UGIB in cirrhotic patients.

Objective To evaluate the benefits of surgical repair acute type A aortic dissection(ATAAD)on survival of *** Patients who underwent surgery for acute ATAAD from the multicenter European Registry of Type A Aortic Dissection(ERTAAD)were the subjects of the present *** 326(8.4%)patients were aged≥80 *** 280 propensity score matched pairs,in-hospital mortality was 30.0%in patients aged≥80 years and 20.0%in younger patients(P=0.006),while 10-year mortality were 93.2%and 48.0%,respectively(Png octogenarians up to two years after surgery,but it became comparable to that of younger patients up to 5 *** patients who survived 3 months after surgery,10-year relative survival was 0.77 in patients agednd 0.46 in patients aged≥80 *** survival of octogenarians decreased markedly 5 years after ***≥85 years,glomerular filtration rate,preoperative invasive ventilation,preoperative mesenteric mal-perfusion and aortic root replacement were independent predictors of in-hospital mortality among octogenarians(AUC=0.792;E:O ratio=0.991;CITL=0.016;slope=1.096).An additive score was developed.A risk score≤1 was observed in 68.4%of patients,and their in-hospital mortality was 20.9%.Conclusions Provided a thoughtful patient selection,surgery may provide a survival benefit in patients aged≥80 years with ATAAD that,when compared to younger patients and the general population,may last up to 5 years after the *** findings have significant epidemiologic and clinical relevance because of the increasing longevity of the population of the Western countries.
