A new modification method for glass slides was developed and applied to make ThinPrep Pap smears,in order to increase the adhesion ability of cervical exfoliative cells.3-glycidyloxypropyl trimethoxysilane(GOPS) was coated on the glass slides firstly on the slides,then poly-L-lysine(PLL) was covalently modified onto the above epoxy-terminated slides to form GOPS-PLL double decorated *** modified slides were characterized using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and atomic force microscopy(AFM).The cell adhesion ability effect was tested and compared with traditional PLL coated slides by fixing the cervical exfoliative cells on the double adorned *** control test was conducted by the bare glass slides *** cell morphology of cervical exfoliative cells adhered on different slides was observed under the microscope after Papanicolaou *** number of cervical exfoliative cells on the unmodified slides,PLL coated slides and GOPS-PLL coated slides was 10307300,32837226 and 41197280(n=12),*** data among the three different modification methods showed significant differences(one-way analysis of variance,AnOVA test,Po0.05).The cell capturing effect of the GOPS-PLL slide was the best among the three different modified *** addition,the GOPS-PLL slide could enhance the uniformity of the adhered cells and be widely applied to the ThinPrep system for cervical carcinoma screening to increase the accuracy rate of diagnosis.

numerical analysis was performed to investigate flow and heat transfer characteristics in spiral coiled tube heat exchanger. Radius of curvature of the spiral coiled tube was gradually increased as total rotating angle reached 12n. As the varying radius of curvature became a dominant flow parameter, three-dimensional flow analysis was performed to this flow together with different Reynolds numbers while constant wall heat flux condition was set in thermal field. From the analysis, centrifugal force due to curvature effect is found to have significant role in behavior of pressure drop and heat transfer. The centrifugal force enhances pressure drop and heat transfer to have generally higher values in the spiral coiled tube than those in the straight tube. Even then, friction factor and nusselt number are found to follow the proportionality with square root of the Dean number. Individual effect of flow parameters of Reynolds number and curvature ratio was investigated and effect of Reynolds number is found to be stronger than that of curvature effect.

The parasitic weed Striga poses a serious threat to cereal production in sub-Saharan Africa. For many years, technological packages for the control of this weed were proposed and implemented on farmers＇ fields. A survey was carried out in farmers＇ fields in 2010/201l cropping season in selected dryland areas of Tanzania to：（a） determine the Striga plant counts, number of capsules/Striga plant and agronomic practices used by farmers to control Striga; and （b） evaluate the relationship between Striga reproduction, soil chemical characteristics and agronomic practices. Soil samples at 0-20 cm depth were collected from 20 different farmers＇ fields. The soil samples were analyzed for pH, organic carbon, n, P and K. Results showed that there was low adoption of recommended Striga control methods. Regression analysis of agronomic practices and soil chemical characteristics revealed a positive improvement of soil n and organic carbon and reduction of soil P and K content as one shifted from sole planting to intercropping. The results showed that potassium was highly positively related to number of capsules/Striga plant. There was a reduction in the number of capsules/plant as one moved from sole planting to intercropping. Based on these findings, K in the Striga infested in soils positively influenced Striga reproduction and seed bank replenishment, hence high soil K levels may lead to high Striga incidence.

The expanding cost of ordinary fuel in urban zones requires the investigation of other vitality *** exploitation of agricultural wastes for biogas production could protect our environment and can also solve emerging energy crises *** chrysosporium,Trichoderma virdie and Trichoderma harzianum were used to ferment rice straw and cattle dung for production of compost and *** yield was determined using displacement technique,using acidified water(1 n H_(2)SO_(4))to prevent solubilization of carbon dioxide contained in the *** results showed that the highest rate of biogas and methane were recorded with treated rice straw mixed with cattle dung where the amount of production from the total gas was 51.84 of biogas and 37.86 of methane per Liter(L)/Kilogram(Kg)of fermented ***,the results showed that the consumed biogas and methane related to volatile solids gave the highest amount with untreated rice straw(86.32 and 56.72 L/Kg respectively)followed by treated rice straw and untreated and treated mixtures of rice straw and cattle dung *** results also showed that the highest bacterial count was obtained from fungi treated rice straw mixed with cattle dung(125×10^(3)cells/g)followed by treated rice straw(32×10^(3)cells/g).This study confirms that ***,*** and *** significantly speed up the process of aerobic and anaerobic fermentation of rice straw in respect to biogas and methane production.

Treatment of Ru(CO)(Cl)(H)(PPh3)3 with naLOEt (LOEt-= [CpCo{P(O)(OEt)2}3]-) afforded the hydride complex (PPh3)(CO)-LOEtRu(H) (1), which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. Similarly, the tricyclohexylphosphine analogue, (PCy3)(CO)LOEtRu(H) (2), was synthesized from Ru(CO)Cl(H)(PCy3)2 and naLOEt. Treatment of complex 1 with R'SO2n3 afforded the (arylsulfonyl)amido complexes LOEtRu(CO)(PPh3)(nHSO2R) (R = 2,4,6-i-Pr3C6H2 (3), 4-t-BuC6H4 (4)). The crystal structure of complex 3 has been determined. The Ru-n distance and Ru-n-S angle in 3 are 2.076(3) and 126.14(16)°, respectively. Reactions of complex 1 with acids have been studied.

We report the fabrication of long period gratings in fluid-cladding microfibers by directly focusing a femtosecond laser beam on the microfibers surface to induce periodical modification a long one side of the microfibers.A long period grating is fabricated in a water-cladding microfiber with a diameter of~5μm,which demonstrates a resonant attenuation of 28.53 dB at wavelength of 1588.1 nm with 10 *** water cladding is changed to be refractive index oil of n=1.33 and alcohol solution with concentration of 5%,the resonance wavelength shifts to 1575.1 nm with resonant attenuation of 24.91 dB and 1594.1 nm with resonant attenuation of 35.9 dB,*** long period grating demonstrates different temperature sensitivities of-0.524 nm/℃,-0.767 nm/℃and-1.316 nm/℃for water,alcohol solution and refractive index oil cladding microfibers,respectively,which means the alterable liquid cladding allows the availability of tunable wavelength and *** fluid-cladding protects the microfibers from external disturbance and contamination and allows more flexibility in controlling the transmission property and sensing characteristics of long period gratings,which can be used as fiber devices and sensors for chemical,biological,and environmental applications.

The Burma Terrane has yielded some of the earliest pieces of evidence for monsoonal rainfall in the Bay of ***,Burmese ecosystems and their potential monsoonal imprint remain poorly *** study focuses on the late Eocene Yaw Formation(23°n)in central Myanmar,which was located near the equator(c.5°n)during the *** quantitatively assessed the past vegetation,climate,and depositional environments with sporomorph diagrams,bioclimatic analysis,and sequence *** calculated the palynological diversity and drew inferences with rarefaction analysis by comparing with four other middle to late Eocene tropical *** results highlight a high floristic diversity for the palynoflora throughout the section formed by six pollen zones characterized by different *** indicate that lowland evergreen forests and swamps dominated in the Eocene Burmese deltaic plains while terra firma areas were occupied by seasonal evergreen,seasonally dry,and deciduous *** vegetation pattern is typical to what is found around the Bay of Bengal today and supports a monsoon-like climate at the time of the Yaw *** analysis further suggests that in the late Eocene,the Yaw Formation was more seasonal,drier,and cooler compared to modern-day climate at similar near-equatorial *** seasonal and drier conditions can be explained by a well-marked seasonal migration of the Intertropical Convergence Zone(ITCZ),driver of proto-monsoonal *** temperatures in the late Eocene of central Myanmar may be due to the lack of adequate modern analogues for the Eocene monsoonal climate,while those found at other three Eocene Asian paleobotanical sites(India and South China)may be caused by the effect of canopy evapotranspirational *** data suggest that paleoenvironmental change including two transgressive-regressive depositional sequences is controlled by global sea level change,which may be driven by cl

Energy exchange between land and atmosphere are important in climatic processes. In this paper, the seasonal dynamics and diurnal variations of surface radiation components of agricultural crops are investigated. One year data are used to emphasize the separate contribution of each radiation balance component. From the energy budget equation and FAO empirical model, we compare the clear sky solar radiation and the incoming short wave radiation in order to highlight aerosols and water vapor role in the studied area. The analysis show two important results: 1) The relevance of the short wave radiation in the net radiation budget especially in the wet season and 2) The variations of the long wave radiation were small. Analyses provide an understanding of net radiation seasonal variations in the northern part of Benin.
