Increased plasma malondialdehyde and fructosamine in anemic H pylori infected patients:Effect of treatment

AIM： TO unravel the possible association of malondialdehyde （MDA） and fructosamine in anemic H pylori infected patients and to observe the alteration in MDA and fructosamine levels in these patients after treatment for one month. METHODS： Fructosamine, MDA and glucose were estimated in 22 anemic H pylori infected patients and 16 healthy controls. Hematological parameters were also evaluated in both the groups using Sysmex-K-100 automated cell counter. The H pylori infected patients were randomly divided into two groups. Hpylori infected patients in Group Ⅰ received both iron supplementation and anti-H pylori therapy, while patients in Group Ⅱ received only iron supplementation. All the biochemical and hematological parameters were estimated after one month of treatment. RESULTS： In anemic H pylori infected patients, while MDA （5.41 ± 2.16 vs 2.26 ± 0.50; P 〈 0.05） and fructosamine （2.64 ± 0.93 vs 1.60 ± 0.35; P 〈 0.05） were significantly increased, iron （32.72 ± 14.93 vs 110.25 ± 26.58; P 〈 0.05）, hemoglobin （6.9 ± 2.6 vs 12.66 ± 0.74; P 〈 0.05） and ferritin （28.82 ± 16.27 vs 140.43 ± 30.72; P 〈 0.05） levels were significantly decreased compared with the controls. With partial correlation analysis, fructosamine was found to have a significant positive correlation with MDA. In Group I, while MDA level decreased significantly （3.11 ± 1.73 vs 5.50 ± 2.46; P 〈 0.05）, there was a significant increase in iron （84.09 ± 29.51 vs 36.09 ± 17.81; P 〈 0.05）, hemoglobin （10.40 ± 1.11 vs 7.42 ± 1.90; P 〈 0.05） and ferritin （116.91 ± 63.34 vs 30.46 ± 17.81; P 〈 0.05） levels after one month. There was no significant change in the levels of fructosamine in group Ⅰ after treatment. Similarly, no significant alterations were noted in the levels of IDA, fructosamine, hemoglobin or ferritin in Group Ⅱ patients after one month of treatment. Years of research have demonstrated that the use of multiple components is essential to the development of a commercial photoelectrode to address specific bottlenecks,such as low charge separation and injection efficiency,low carrier diffusion length and lifetime,and poor durability.A facile strategy for the synthesis of multilayered photoanodes from atomic-layer-deposited ultrathin films has enabled a new type of electrode architecture with a total multilayer thickness of 15–17 *** illustrate the advantages of this electrode architecture by using nanolayers to address different bottlenecks,thus producing a multilayer photoelectrode with improved interface kinetics and shorter electron transport path,as determined by interface *** photocurrent density was twice that of the bare structure and reached a maximum of 33.3±2.1 mA cm^(−2) at 1.23 *** integrated overall water-splitting cell consisting of an electrocatalytic niS cathode and Bi_(2)S_(3)/niS/niFeO/TiO_(2) photoanode was used for precious-metal-free seawater splitting at a cell voltage of 1.23 V without *** results and root analyses suggest that the distinctive advantages of the electrode architecture,which are superior to those of bulk bottom-up core–shell and hierarchical architectures,originate from the high density of active sites and nanometer-scale layer thickness,which enhance the suitability for interface-oriented energy conversion processes.

The seed coat is important for embryo protection, seed hydration, and dispersal. Seed coat composition is also of interest to the agricultural sector, since it impacts the nutritional value for humans and livestock alike. Although some seed coat genes have been identified, the developmental pathways controlling seed coat development are not completely elucidated, and a global genetic program associated with seed coat development has not been reported. This study uses a combination of genetic and genomic approaches in Arabidopsis thaliana to begin to address these knowledge gaps. Seed coat development is a complex process whereby the integuments of the ovule differentiate into specialized cell types. In Arabidopsis, the outermost layer of cells secretes mucilage into the apoplast and develops a secondary cell wall known as a columella. The layer beneath the epidermis, the palisade, synthesizes a secondary cell wall on its inner tangential side. The innermost layer （the pigmented layer or endothelium） produces proanthocyanidins that condense into tannins and oxidize, giving a brown color to mature seeds. Genetic separation of these cell layers was achieved using the ap2-7 and tt16-1 mutants, where the epidermis/palisade and the endothelium do not develop respectively. This genetic ablation was exploited to examine the developmental programs of these cell types by isolating and collecting seed coats at key tran- sitions during development and performing global gene expression analysis. The data indicate that the developmental programs of the epidermis and the pigmented layer proceed relatively independently. Global expression datasets that can be used for identification of new gene candidates for seed coat development were generated. These dataset provide a comprehensive expression profile for developing seed coats in Arabidopsis, and should provide a useful resource and reference for other seed systems.

Aluminum Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) sought over other conventional materials in the field of aerospace, automotive and marine applications owing to their excellent improved properties. These materials are of much interest to the researchers from few decades. These composites initially replaced Cast Iron and Bronze alloys but owing to their poor wear and seizure resistance, they were subjected to many experiments and the wear behavior of these composites were explored to a maximum extent and were reported by number of research scholars for the past 25 years. In this paper an attempt has been made to consolidate some of the aspects of mechanical and wear behavior of Al-MMCs and the prediction of the Mechanical and Tribological properties of Aluminum MMCs.

A twice daily (BID) radiation treatment schedule (interval of 4- 6 h) delivered concurrent with chemotherapy for advanced or critically located carcinoma of the vulva was modeled on the schema developed by the Gynecology Oncology Group (GOG). Inguinal nodes were included in the treatment fields even if clinically negative. This review analyzed the outcomes using this approach. Methods. A retrospective review was conducted of the records of 18 patients with vulvar cancer. Patients were treated with a modified GOG schema using 5- fluorouracil (5FU) and cisplatin with BID radiation treatments during the first and last weeks of treatment and seven daily radiation treatments in between. The regional nodes and primary tumor were prescribed 44.6 Gy. Resection of the primary tumor bed and inguinal dissection was planned at 4- 6 weeks post-treatment. Clinical and pathological responses as well as locoregional control and toxicity were assessed. Results. All patients responded. There were 13/18 complete clinical responses (cCR), of whom 12 remained nED at 25 months. Of the five partial clinical response (cPR) patients, two have suffered local recurrences, despite surgical resection in one and electron boost in the other. All patients developed a desquamative perineal skin reaction necessitating a mean treatment break of 15 days. no severe hematological toxicity was encountered, and only one patient had grade 3 small bowel toxicity. One patient required surgical debridement for groin wound breakdown. Conclusion. The use of BID chemoradiation resulted in complete or partial responses in all cases. Post-treatment groin dissection can be performed without significant post-operative complications.
