Late neoproterozoic to early Cambrian high-grade metamorphism from Mikir Hills(Assam-Meghalaya gneissic Complex,northeast India):Implications for eastern Gondwana assembly

Mikir Hills region,which represents the eastern segment of the Assam-Meghalaya Gneissic Complex(AMGC)in northeast India,constitutes part of the Eastern *** Mikir Hills preserves multiple metamorphic and magmatic events ranging from Early Mesoproterozoic to Early *** of these events,documenting the late neoproterozoic to early Cambrian tectonothermal events is helpful in correlating the continental blocks of Eastern *** present an integrated study involving field relations,petrology,P-T history and zircon-monazite geochronology of hitherto poorly studied pelitic and quartzo-feldspathic gneisses from the Mikir Hills *** gneisses have experienced at least three deformation events(D_(1),D_(2) and D_(3))with dominant foliation indicated by EnE-WSW striking and shallow-moderately dipping(neissic *** peak metamorphism in pelitic and quartzo-feldspathic gneisses is characterized by garnet(core)-K-feldspar-sillimanite-plagioclase-bio tite-rutile-quartz-ilmenite-melt and garnet-plagioclase-K-feldspar-biotite-quartz-ilmenite-melt assemblages,*** application of thermobarometric methods constrains the peak P-T conditions of 7.5-8.4 kbar at 674-778℃and 6.7-7.4 kbar at 601-618℃for pelitic and quartzofeldspathic gneisses,*** results are consistent with the values estimated using phase equilibria modelling and melt reintegration *** results of pseudosection modelling suggests a clockwise P-T path for pelitic gneisses involving migmatisation during peak metamorphism followed by near isothermal decompression from 8.0 to 8.6 kbar at 768-780℃to 4.0-5.0 kbar at 720-765℃.In contrast,quartzo-feldspathic gneisses preserved slightly lower peak P-T conditions at 3.8-4.6 kbar and 590-650℃.The U-Pb zircon dating of migmatised pelitic and quartzo-feldspathic gneisses yielded concordant ages of 1647±11 Ma and 1590±7 Ma,*** dates represent the inherited igneous protolith components,possibly

Tonian–Ediacaran Tectonometamorphic History of the Sa'al Complex,Sinai(Egypt):Implications for the Tectonostratigraphic Framework of the northern Arabian–nubian Shield

The Sa'al Metamorphic Complex(SMC;southern Sinai)encompasses the oldest arc rocks in the Arabian–nubian Shield,comprising two non-consanguineous metavolcanic successions(the Agramiya Group and the Post-Ra'ayan Formation)separated by the metasediments of the Ra'ayan *** experienced three distinct deformational events(D_(1)–D_(3))and two low-medium grade regional metamorphic events(M_1–M_(2)).The Agramiya Group and the Ra'ayan Formation experienced all tectonometamorphic events(D_1–D_(3)and M_(1)–M_(2)),whereas the Post-Ra'ayan volcanic rocks were only affected by the D_(3)and M_(2)events.D_(1)is an extensional event and is connected to the late Rodinia break-up(~Tonian;900–870 Ma).The M_(1)metamorphism variably affected the older Agramiya Group,the rhyolitic tuffs experiencing lower to upper greenschist facies conditions and the basic and intermediate volcanic rocks undergoing amphibolite facies *** Ra'ayan Formation metasediments experienced upper greenschist to amphibolite facies *** upper greenschist facies M_(2)affected the youngest Post-Ra'ayan volcanic rocks and other stratigraphic *** compressive D_(2)and D_(3)events were coeval with the accretion of dismembered terranes in the assembly of Gondwana.D_(2)can be linked to the Tonian–Cryogenian arc-arc assembly(~880–760 Ma;in Elat and Sinai),whereas D_(3)and the accompanying M_(2)is constrained to 622–600 Ma(Ediacaran).

Beneficiation of an Indian non-coking coal by column flotation

Beneficiation of non-coking coal is gaining ground in India. It not only reduces the volume of inert content to be transported to the power plant and also lowers the wear in the boiler houses. For special applications such as the fuel for integrated gasification combined cycle plant （IGCC）, the ash content in the coal should preferably be below 15 %. Indian coals are characterized by high inter-grown ash content mainly due to ＇drift origin＇ of Gondwana formation in Permian age. This warrants fine grinding of non-coking coal in order to liberate the ash forming minerals from coal macerals. A non- coking coal sample of vitrinite type from India was ground to 44 ~tm （dso） and subjected to column flotation to improve its quality. The non-coking coal analyzing 34.6 % ash, 26.2 % volatile matter, 1.3 % moisture and 37.9 % fixed carbon could be upgraded to a concentrate/froth of 14.83 % ash at 72.18 % yield by optimizing collector and frother dosages and flotation column operating parameters, namely, froth depth, superficial feed velocity and superficial air velocity. The concentrate produced by this process is suitable as fuel for IGCC in coal-to-electricity route.

Tunnel Diode Loaded Microstrip Antenna with Parasitic Elements

The present work describes the circuit model based analysis of symmetrically tunnel diode loaded microstrip antenna with parasitic elements. To optimize the antenna characteristics, a systematic study has been carried out as a function of tunnel diode bias voltage, space between parasitic patch and fed patch. The results obtained from antenna radiation pattern depict that an improvement of 5.8 MHz in bandwidth can be achieved if the symmetrically tunnel diode is loaded with patch along with parasitic elements of gap (s) = 3.6 cm. It has also been noted that at this state the radiations are more powerful i.e. 0.5647 dB as compared to single patch design.

Mixed Convection MHD Flow of a Casson nanofluid over a nonlinear Permeable Stretching Sheet with Viscous Dissipation

The present study deals with the mixed convection MHD flow of a Casson nanofluid over a nonlinear permeable stretching sheet with viscous dissipation. The governing partial differential equations are transformed into nonlinear coupled ordinary differential equations with the help of suitable similarity transformations. These equations were then solved numerically by using an implicit finite difference method known as Keller-Box method. The effects of various parameters such as magnetic parameter (M), Casson parameter (β), local Grashoff number (Gr), local modified Grashoff number (Gc), nonlinear parameter (n), Eckert number (Ec) on velocity, temperature and concentration were discussed and presented graphically. It is found that a larger value of Casson parameter leads to decrease the velocity and temperature. Increase in the local Grashoff number reduces the temperature. nanoparticle concentration is decreased for the larger values of local Modified Grashoff number. The numerical values of skin friction, nusselt number and Sherwood number are presented in tables.

Intermodal group-velocity engineering for broadband nonlinear optics

Interest in the nonlinear properties of multi-mode optical waveguides has seen a recent resurgence on account of the large dimensionality afforded by the platform. The large volume of modes in these waveguides provides a new spatial degree of freedom for phase matching nonlinear optical processes. However, this spatial dimension is quantized, which narrows the conversion bandwidths of intermodal processes and constrains spectral and temporal tailoring of the light. Here we show that by engineering the relative group velocity within the spatial dimension, we can tailor the phase-matching bandwidth of intermodal parametric nonlinearities. We demonstrate group-velocity-tailored parametric nonlinear mixing between higher-order modes in a multi-mode fiber with gain bandwidths that are more than an order of magnitude larger than that previously thought possible for intermodal four-wave mixing. As evidence of the technological utility of this methodology, we seed this process to generate the first high-peak-power wavelength-tunable all-fiber quasi-CW laser in the Ti:sapphire wavelength *** generally, with the combination of intermodal interactions, which dramatically expand the phase-matching degrees of freedom for nonlinear optics, and intermodal group-velocity engineering, which enables tailoring of the bandwidth of such interactions, we showcase a platform for nonlinear optics that can be broadband while being wavelength agnostic.

Objective:To compare the cardioprotective efficacy of equimolar doses(50 mM/kg,p.o.)of phloretin and genistein against doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity in ***:Cardiotoxicity was induced in rats by intraperitoneal injection of 6 mg/kg doxorubicin on alternative days till the cumulative dose reached 30 mg/*** study included four treatment groups of rats(n=6):the control group(0.5%carboxymethyl cellulose solution-treated),the doxorubicin-treated group(0.5%carboxymethyl cellulose solution along with doxorubicin),the genistein-treated group(50 mM/kg/day;*** with doxorubicin)and phloretin-treated group(50 mM/kg/day;*** with doxorubicin).On the 10th day of dosing,rats were anesthetized for recording ECG,mean arterial pressure,and left ventricular *** stress,nitric oxide levels,and inflammatory cytokines were estimated in the cardiac *** function parameters(creatine kinase MB,lactate dehydrogenase,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine transaminase)were estimated in the serum ***:Phloretin treatment inhibited doxorubicin-induced oxidative stress and also reduced nitric oxide levels in cardiac tissues of *** administration attenuated doxorubicin-induced alterations in hemodynamic parameters(heart rate,mean arterial blood pressure,and left ventricular function)and suppressed the expression of pro-inflammatory *** cardiac injury markers like creatine kinase MB,lactate dehydrogenase,aspartate aminotransferase,and alanine transaminase were reduced by both genistein and *** these effects of phloretin were more prominent than ***:Phloretin offers cardioprotection that is comparable to genistein,a clinically validated cardioprotectant against doxorubicin-induced *** studies are needed to confirm and establish the therapeutic utility of phloretin as a chemopreventive adjuvant to doxorubicin chemotherapy.
