Facial emotion recognition(FER)has become a focal point of research due to its widespread applications,ranging from human-computer interaction to affective *** traditional FER techniques have relied on handcrafted features and classification models trained on image or video datasets,recent strides in artificial intelligence and deep learning(DL)have ushered in more sophisticated *** research aims to develop a FER system using a Faster Region Convolutional neural network(FRCnn)and design a specialized FRCnn architecture tailored for facial emotion recognition,leveraging its ability to capture spatial hierarchies within localized regions of facial *** proposed work enhances the accuracy and efficiency of facial emotion *** proposed work comprises twomajor key components:Inception V3-based feature extraction and FRCnn-based emotion *** experimentation on Kaggle datasets validates the effectiveness of the proposed strategy,showcasing the FRCnn approach’s resilience and accuracy in identifying and categorizing facial *** model’s overall performance metrics are compelling,with an accuracy of 98.4%,precision of 97.2%,and recall of 96.31%.This work introduces a perceptive deep learning-based FER method,contributing to the evolving landscape of emotion recognition *** high accuracy and resilience demonstrated by the FRCnn approach underscore its potential for real-world *** research advances the field of FER and presents a compelling case for the practicality and efficacy of deep learning models in automating the understanding of facial emotions.

Dysfunction of the hypothalamus is associated with endocrine imbalances,growth abnormalities,and reproductive ***,there is a lack of targeted treatment strategies focused on the *** this study,we constructed a multifunctional nanocarrier system(S@AnP)to directly target the hypothalamic neurokinin receptor 3(nK3R)via an intranasal delivery *** system could overcome the primary obstacles in drug delivery for hypothalamus-related *** the guidance of a modified(Trp7,β-Ala8)-neurokinin A(4-10)peptide with cysteine,nanoparticles encapsulated with SB222200,an nK3R inhibitor,were found to readily penetrate hypothalamic cells with substantial loading capacity,encapsulation efficiency,and sustained release in ***,intranasal delivery represents an optimal delivery strategy that allows for a significant reduction in oral dosage and enables nanoparti-cles to bypass the blood-brain barrier and target relevant parts of the *** mucolytic agent n-acetyl-L-cysteine(nAC)was loaded into the nanopar-ticles(S@AnP+nAC)to increase mucosal solubility and intranasal delivery *** vivo evaluations showed that S@AnP+nAC could effectively tar-get the hypothalamus and modulate nK3R-regulated hypothalamic functions in *** to its high hypothalamic targeting efficiency and low toxicity,this intranasal nanoparticle drug delivery system may serve as a potential strategy for precision therapy of hypothalamic disorders.

In this paper,we analyzed the physical characteristics of the ternary alloys RE_(2)Rh_(3)Ge(RE=Pr and Sm)using the first principles calculation based on functional density theory integrated in the Wien2k *** calculated formation energies of Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm_(2)Rh_(3)Ge are−5.3827 and−5.2782 eV/atom,respectively,showing that these alloys may exist *** results of the band structure and density of states indicate that all of the compounds tested are magnetic metals,and their magnetism is mostly related to the contribution of Pr and Sm *** total magnetic moments of Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm_(2)Rh_(3)Ge are 4.07245 and 11.16161μB/f.u,*** parameters such as heat capacity at constant pressure,entropy,Debye temperature,lattice volume,compressibility coefficients,and Grüneisen parameter alloys were calculated using the Gibbs algorithm and studied in depth over a large temperature range of 0-900 *** Debye temperature increases with increasing pressure and decreases with decreasing ***,the Debye temperatures calculated at p=0 GPa and T=300 K are equal to be 342 and 322 K for Pr_(2)Rh_(3)Ge and Sm_(2)Rh_(3)Ge,*** optical characteristics such as the real and imaginary portions of the dielectric function,the absorption coefficient,the energy-loss function,and the refractive index were investigated and discussed in more depth.

Objective:To evaluate the polio laboratory surveillance carried out from january,2019 to May,2023 by the Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri ***:This retrospective study analyzed all stool samples received under the acute flaccid paralysis(AFP)and immunodeficient vaccine-derived poliovirus(VDPV)surveillance at Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka from january,2019 to May,*** results of the testing methodologies were extracted from the laboratory data system,i.e.,poliovirus virus isolation,intra-typic differentiation/VDPV real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(ITD/VDPV rRTPCR)and sequencing,along with the data on timing of reporting results,stool adequacy and *** was analyzed using descriptive ***:A total of 2141 stool samples from 1644 cases were received for AFP surveillance from Sri Lanka(93.61%),Maldives(1.52%),and immunodeficient VDPV(4.86%)*** polioviruses(19/1644,1.15%)and non-polio enteroviruses(73/1644,4.44%)were isolated,while Sabin-like 3 virus was detected in majority(12/19,63.15%)among the poliovirus *** polioviruses or circulating VDPVs were not detected among the *** all years of the study,the non-polio AFP detection rate was>1/100000 in children aged less than 15 years,whereas stool adequacy rate was>80%.All results were reported within 14 days of receipt,ensuring timely reporting as per global ***:The Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka plays a vital role in maintaining the polio-free status in the country through its robust laboratory surveillance,while adhering to the surveillance ***-detection of wild polioviruses and circulating VDPV during the study period reinforces the polio-free status in the country.

An advanced spectral diagnostic system was developed to measure the electron temperature(T_(e)),electron density(n_(e)),and ion temperature(T_(i))of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology field-reversed configuration *** system consists of an optic fiber spectrometer with a wide spectral band and a 670 mm focal length high throughout Czerny-Turner monochromator equipped with both a 3600 g mm^(-1)grating and a 2400 g mm^(-1)grating to measure the line *** these components is an electronmultiplying charge-coupled device camera to capture spectral *** relative intensity of the optical fiber spectrometer was calibrated using a standard luminance source,and the wavelength calibration of the spectrometer was accomplished using a Hg/Ar *** diagnostic setup was configured to measure electron density based on the Stark effect of H_γ(n=5→n=2;434.04 nm).Doppler broadening of an OⅢ(2s^(2)2p(^(2)P^(0))3p→2s^(2)2p(^(2)P^(0))3s;375.988 nm)emission line was measured and analyzed to obtain the ion temperature,and electron temperatures were estimated from the relative strength of H_(β)(n=4→n=2;486.14 nm)(D_(β))and H_(γ)(D_(γ))spectral lines when the electron density was obtained from Stark effect *** initial experimental results indicate that the highest electron temperature of the formation region was approximately 8 eV,the electron density of the colliding-and-merging region was approaching 10^(20)m^(-3),and the ion temperature reached about 40 eV.

B_(4)C/Al composites are widely utilized as neutron absorbing materials for the storage and transportation of spent nuclear *** order to improve the high-temperature mechanical properties of B_(4)C/Al composites,in-situ nano-Al_(2)O_(3)was introduced utilizing oxide on Al powder *** this study,the Al_(2)O_(3)content was adjusted by utilizing spheroid Al powder with varying diameters,thereby investigating the impact of Al_(2)O_(3)content on the tensile properties of(B_(4)C+Al_(2)O_(3))/Al *** was found that the pinning effect of Al_(2)O_(3)on the grain boundaries could hinder the recovery of dislocations and lead to dislocation accumulation at high *** the result,with the increase in Al_(2)O_(3)content and the decrease in grain size,the high-temperature strength of the composites increased *** finest Al powder used in this investigation had a diameter of 1.4μm,whereas the resultant composite exhibited a maximum strength of 251 MPa at room temperature and 133 MPa at 350℃,surpassing that of traditional B_(4)C/Al composites.

Influence of biomass burning on ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central Mexico during the COVID-19 lockdown

The massive reductions in anthropogenic emissions resulting from the COVID-19 lockdown provided a unique opportunity to evaluate the effect of mitigation measures aiming to abate air *** Mexico,the total lockdown period took place during the dry-hot season when biomass burning activity is ***,we investigate the role of biomass burning emissions on regional ozone levels in the Megalopolis of Central *** studied period covers the lockdown phases 2 and 3,and the first month of the new *** applied a factor separation technique and process analysis to estimate the pure and synergistic contributions of emission reductions under lockdown and that from biomass burning to daily ozone maximum concentrations in 7 metropolitan areas of different states in the *** results revealed that biomass burning plumes likely masked the effect of massive reductions from mobile emissions,impacted the PBL development during phase 3 and favored transition and mixed nO_(x)-limited and VOC-limited regional *** contributed to increased ozone production in the middle to lower PBL by changing the regional background levels which potentially could bias high ozone production efficiency *** the Megalopolis contribution to economic and societal development at national scale,our study suggests that ozone mitigation measures during the dry-hot season targeting mainly mobile emissions will likely be offset by biomass burning plumes.A regional and synergic policy aiming to control biomass burning would help to reduce the occurrence of high ozone levels in Central Mexico with the co-benefit of tackling short-lived climate pollutants.

Telomeric DnA breaks in human induced pluripotent stem cells trigger ATR-mediated arrest and telomerase-independent telomere damage repair

Although mechanisms of telomere protection are well-defined in differentiated cells,how stem cells sense and respond to telomere dysfunction,in particular telomeric double-strand breaks(DSBs),is poorly ***,we report the DnA damage signaling,cell cycle,and transcriptome changes in human induced pluripotent stem cells(iPSCs)in response to telomere-internal *** engineer human iPSCs with an inducible TRF1-FokI fusion protein to acutely induce DSBs at *** this model,we demonstrate that TRF1-FokI DSBs activate an ATR-dependent DnA damage response,which leads to p53-independent cell cycle arrest in *** CRISPR–Cas9 to cripple the catalytic domain of telomerase reverse transcriptase,we show that telomerase is largely dispensable for survival and lengthening of TRF1-FokI-cleaved telomeres,which instead are effectively repaired by robust homologous recombination(HR).In contrast to HR-based telomere maintenance in mouse embryonic stem cells,where HR causes ZSCAn4-dependent extension of telomeres beyond their initial lengths,HR-based repair of telomeric breaks is sufficient to maintain iPSC telomeres at a normal length,which is compatible with sustained survival of the cells over several days of TRF1-FokI *** findings suggest a previously unappreciated role for HR in telomere maintenance in telomerase-positive iPSCs and reveal distinct iPSC-specific responses to targeted telomeric DnA damage.
