Exploitation of oxygen evolution reaction(OER)and urea oxidation reaction(UOR)catalysts with high activity and stability at large current density is a major challenge for energy-saving H_(2) production in water ***,we use the pyridinic-n doping carbon layers coupled with tensile strain of Feni alloy activated by niFe_(2)O_(4)(Feni/niFe_(2)O_(4)@nC)for efficiently increasing the performance of water and urea *** to the tensile strain effect on Feni/niFe_(2)O_(4)@nC,it provides a favorable modulation on the electronic properties of the active center,thus enabling amazing OER(η_(100)=196 mV)and UOR(E_(10)=1.32 V)intrinsic ***,the carbon-coated layers can be used as armor to prevent Feni alloy from being corroded by the electrolyte for enhancing the OER/UOR stability at large current density,showing high industrial *** work thus provides a simple way to prepare high-efficiency catalyst for activating water and urea oxidation.

The reaction of carbonyl-to-imine/hemiaminal conversion in the atmospheric aqueous phase is a critical pathway to produce the light-absorbing n-containing secondary organic compounds(SOC).The formation mechanism of these compounds has been wildly investigated in bulk solutions with a low ionic ***,the ionic strength in the aqueous phase of the polluted atmosphere may be *** is still unclear whether and to what extent the inorganic ions can affect the SOC *** we prepared the bulk solution with certain ionic strength,in which glyoxal and ammonium were mixed to mimic the aqueous-phase *** characterization by High-resolution Mass Spectrometry was performed to identify the n-containing products,and the light absorption of the mixtures was measured by ultraviolet-visible ***-nine n-containing compounds were identified and divided into four categories(n-heterocyclic chromophores,high-molecular-weight compounds with n-heterocycle,aliphatic imines/hemiaminals,and the unclassified).It was observed that the longer reaction time and higher ionic strength led to the formation of more n-heterocyclic chromophores and the increasing of the lightabsorbance of the *** added inorganic ions were proposed to make the aqueous phase somewhat viscous so that the molecules were prone to undergo consecutive and intramolecular reactions to form the *** general,this study revealed that the enhanced ionic strength and prolonged reaction time had the promotion effect on the lightabsorbing SOC *** implies that the aldehyde-derived aqueous-phase SOC would contribute more light-absorbing particulate matter in the industrial or populated area where inorganic ions are abundant.

A critical challenge of any blast simulation facility is in producing the widest possible pressure-impulse range for matching against equivalent high-explosive *** tubes and blast simulators are often constrained with the lack of effective ways to control blast wave profiles and as a result have a limited performance *** wave shaping techniques employed in some facilities are reviewed but often necessitate extensive geometric modifications,inadvertently cause flow anomalies,and/or are only applicable under very specific *** paper investigates controlled venting as an expedient way for waveforms to be tuned without requiring extensive modifications to the driver or existing geometry and could be widely applied by existing and future blast simulation and shock tube *** use of controlled venting is demonstrated experimentally using the Advanced Blast Simulator(shock tube)at the Australian national Facility of Physical Blast Simulation and via numerical flow simulations with Computational Fluid *** venting is determined as an effective method for mitigating the impact of re-reflected waves within the blast *** control method also allows for the adjustment of parameters such as tuning the peak overpressure,the positive phase duration,and modifying the magnitude of the negative phase and the secondary shock of the blast *** paper is concluded with an illustration of the potential expanded performance range of the Australian blast simulation facility when controlled venting for blast waveform tailoring as presented in this paper is applied.

The charge carrier separation efficiency and the adsorption capacity of the photocatalyst usually affect the degradation rate of ***,Cerium-doped leaf-like CdS(Ce-CdS)modified with ultrathin n-doped rGO(n-rGO)composites were successfully constructed(Ce-CdS/n-rGO)to investigate the removal efficiency of tetracycline(TC).X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)and photoelectrochemical results revealed that Ce ions doped in CdS acting as the electron capture sites facilitated the interfacial charge *** calculation(DFT)results indicated that the interfacial effect between Ce-CdS and ultrathin n-rGO promoted the transfer of photogenerated electrons under the synergistic effect between the doping and interface modification *** optimized Ce5-CdS/n-rGO20 composites had the maximum TC removal capability(94.5%)and maintained a stable cycling *** addition,the adsorption-driven photocatalytic degradation pathway of TC was studied through mass spectrometry(MS)and in-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(in-situ FTIR).This study will provide an effective strategy for the construction of efficient photocatalytic composites for wastewater treatment.

The fabrication of suitable MFI zeolites to effectively produce para-xylene through the alkylation between toluene and methanol is highly ***,the two-dimensional pillared MFI zeolite was modified by silicalite-1,and its morphology and structure were systematically investigated by tuning the concentration of Si species during the secondary crystallization *** MFI zeolites were characterized by X-ray diffraction,transmission electron microscopy,pyridine-infrared and n_(2) adsorption-desorption *** characterization results showed that the external Brønsted acid sites of surface passivated P-MFI-x samples have been successfully ***,the P-MFI-23 showed long lifetime and high selectivity of para-xylene(about 35%)based on the cooperation between opened interlamellar structure and passivated silicalite-1 *** was found that the accumulated hard coke in the interior of MFI zeolites not only blocked the channels of zeolites but also covered the acidic sites,resulting in the deactivation of ***,the highest selectivity of para-xylene(about 48%)can be achieved for P-MFI-30 under harsh reaction condition,which also exhibited excellent regeneration property in the alkylation reaction between toluene and *** strategy described in present research may open a window for the design of other advanced materials.

Complex field imaging,which captures both the amplitude and phase information of input optical fields or objects,can offer rich structural insights into samples,such as their absorption and refractive index ***,conventional image sensors are intensity-based and inherently lack the capability to directly measure the phase distribution of a *** limitation can be overcome using interferometric or holographic methods,often supplemented by iterative phase retrieval algorithms,leading to a considerable increase in hardware complexity and computational ***,we present a complex field imager design that enables snapshot imaging of both the amplitude and quantitative phase information of input fields using an intensity-based sensor array without any digital *** design utilizes successive deep learning-optimized diffractive surfaces that are structured to collectively modulate the input complex field,forming two independent imaging channels that perform amplitude-to-amplitude and phase-to-intensity transformations between the input and output planes within a compact optical design,axially spanning~100 *** intensity distributions of the output fields at these two channels on the sensor plane directly correspond to the amplitude and quantitative phase profiles of the input complex field,eliminating the need for any digital image reconstruction *** experimentally validated the efficacy of our complex field diffractive imager designs through 3D-printed prototypes operating at the terahertz spectrum,with the output amplitude and phase channel images closely aligning with our numerical *** envision that this complex field imager will have various applications in security,biomedical imaging,sensing and material science,among others.

The regeneration of Tetracentron sinense *** poor in the understory and in open areas due to the charac-teristics of natural regeneration of the species on forest edges and in *** is unclear whether different light intensities in various habitats affect eco-physiological characteristics of saplings and their natural *** this study,the light intensity in *** habitats was simulated by artificial shading(L1:100%nS(natural sunlight)in the open;L2:50%nS in a forest gap or edge;L3:10%nS in understory)to investigate differences in morphology,leaf structure,physiology,and photosynthesis of 2-year-old sap-lings,and to analyze the mechanism of light intensity on sapling *** differences were observed in morphology(including leaf area,and specific leaf area)under different light *** to L1 and L3,chloroplast structure in L2 was *** increasing time,superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT)activities in L2 became gradually higher than under the other light intensities,while malondialdehyde(MDA)content was *** decreased osmoregulation substance contents of leaves but increased *** results suggest that light intensities significantly affect the eco-physiological characteristics of *** saplings and they would respond most favorably at intermediate levels of light by optimizing eco-physiological ***,50%natural sunlight should be created to promote saplings establishment and population recovery of *** during in situ conservation,including sowing mature seeds in forest edges or gaps and providing appropriate shade protection for seedlings and saplings in the open.

Pyramid diffractive optical networks for unidirectional image magnification and demagnification

Diffractive deep neural networks(D2nns)are composed of successive transmissive layers optimized using supervised deep learning to all-optically implement various computational tasks between an input and output ***,we present a pyramid-structured diffractive optical network design(which we term P-D2nn),optimized specifically for unidirectional image magnification and *** this design,the diffractive layers are pyramidally scaled in alignment with the direction of the image magnification or *** P-D2nn design creates high-fidelity magnified or demagnified images in only one direction,while inhibiting the image formation in the opposite direction—achieving the desired unidirectional imaging operation using a much smaller number of diffractive degrees of freedom within the optical processor ***,the P-D2nn design maintains its unidirectional image magnification/demagnification functionality across a large band of illumination wavelengths despite being trained with a single *** also designed a wavelength-multiplexed P-D2nn,where a unidirectional magnifier and a unidirectional demagnifier operate simultaneously in opposite directions,at two distinct illumination ***,we demonstrate that by cascading multiple unidirectional P-D2nn modules,we can achieve higher magnification *** efficacy of the P-D2nn architecture was also validated experimentally using terahertz illumination,successfully matching our numerical simulations.P-D2nn offers a physics-inspired strategy for designing task-specific visual processors.
