Marine ecosystems provide a wide variety of diverse habitats that frequently promote migration and ecological *** extent to which the geographic distribution of marine organism has reshaped by human activities remains *** limitations intrinsic to morphology-based identification systems have engendered an urgent need for reliable genetic methods that enable the unequivocal recognition of fish species,particularly those that are prone to overexploitation and/or market *** the present study,however,an attempt has been taken to identify two locally adapted fish species,Siganus sutor(Valenciennes,1835)and Seriolina nigrofasciata(Rüppell,1829)of order Perciformes,which happens to be the first record in Odisha coast,Bay of *** diagnostic characteristics of Siganus sutor are:dorsal fin XIII-10,anal fin VII-9,pectoral fin 15,pelvic fin II-3,while that of Seriolina nigrofasciata dorsal fin VI-I-35,anal fin I-17,pectoral fin 16,pelvic fin *** COI barcodes generated in this study were matched with reference sequences of expected species,according to morphological *** and likelihood phylogenetic trees were drawn based on DnA barcodes and all the specimens clustered in agreement with their taxonomic classification at the species *** phylogeographic studies based on haplotype network and migration rates suggest that both the species were not panmitic and the high-frequency population distribution indicates successful *** result of this study provides an important validation of the use of DnA barcode sequences for monitoring species diversity and changes within a complex marine ecosystem.

The aim of this work was to compare the efficacy of a commercially available phytogenic feed additive(PFA) and an antibiotic growth promoter, which was bacitracin methylene disalicylate(BMD), on performance, nutrient retention, caecal colonization of bacteria and humoral immune responses against newcastle disease in broiler chickens challenged orally with Salmonella enteritidis and Escherichia ***-day-old male Cobb 400 broiler chicks(n = 120) were fed with 1) a negative control(nC) diet, which is the basal diet without any added growth promoter, 2) a positive control(PC) diet, the basal diet supplemented with BMD, 500 mg/kg and 3) a diet supplemented with PFA(150 mg/kg) for 39 days and the birds were inoculated with S. enteritidis and E. coli on d 28. Supplementation of PFA improved body weight, feed conversion ratio, retention of n and crude fiber, increased fecal moisture content and decreased digesta transit time as compared with the nC and PC groups(P nd the PFA was found to be equally effective in controlling the surge in numbers of Salmonella and E. coli following oral inoculation of these bacteria as compared with the nC group(P noculation. Caecal content analysis on d 39 indicated lower numbers of Salmonella, E. coli and Clostridium in the PC and PFA groups as compared with the nC group(P number of Lactobacillus in the PFA group was higher than those in the nC and PC groups(P ne response,measured as hemagglutination inhibition titer against newcastle disease, was better in the PC and PFA groups compared with the nC group(P nce did not last till d 39. Improvements in the management of water,sediment,and nutrients under future climatic conditions are needed to ensure increased crop and livestock production to meet greater global needs and the future availability of water for competing demands and protection against adverse water quality *** study determined the impacts of future climate change scenarios on streamflow,water quality,and best management practices(BMPs)for two watersheds in nebraska,*** Soil and Water Assessment Tool(SWAT)was employed to simulate streamflow,sediment,total nitrogen(n)and total phosphorus(P)from the Shell Creek Watershed near Columbus,nebraska and the Logan Creek Watershed near Sioux City,*** streamflow and water quality records for the two watersheds were used to calibrate model parameters that govern streamflow,sediment,and nutrient responses in *** each watershed,precipitation,air temperature,and CO2 concentrations were input to SWAT for four climatic conditions:a baseline condition for the 1980 to 2000 period and the SRES A2,A1B,and B1 climate scenarios for a future period from 2040 to *** from this study suggest that under the three future climate change scenarios,sediment losses are expected to be about 1.2 to 1.5 times greater than the baseline condition for Shell Creek and 2 to 2.5 times greater for Logan Creek;total n losses are expected to be about 1.2 to 1.4 times greater for Shell Creek and 1.7 to 1.9 times greater for Logan *** to the baseline,total P losses under the future climate scenarios are projected to be about the same for Shell Creek and 1.5 to 1.7 times greater for Logan *** from this study also suggest that future projected increases in both precipitation and CO2 concentration account for net increases in streamflow,but in different ways on each watershed.

Microbial Solubilization of Phosphorus from nano Rock Phosphate

Phosphorus （P） is a major growth-limiting nutrient, and unlike the case of nitrogen （n）, there is no large atmospheric source that can be made biologically available. Moreover, P governs crucial role in plant as it stimulates root development and growth, gives plant rapid and vigorous start leading to better tillering and essential for many metabolic processes for seed formation. Soil microbes play very important role in bio-weathering and biodegradation. The microorganisms produce low molecular mass organic acids, which attack the phosphate structure and transform phosphorus from non-utilizable to the utilizable for the plants form. The test of the relative efficiency of isolated strains is carried out by selecting the microorganisms that are capable of producing a halo/clear zone on a plate owing to the production of organic acids into the surrounding medium. It is a well-known fact that as the particle size of rock phosphate decreases, the microbe mediated solubilization of rock phosphate increases in soil. In the present investigation, microbial solubilization of nano rock phosphate （〈 100 nm） particles was studied. Experimental results revealed that Pseudomonas striata solubilized 11.45% of the total P after 24 h of incubation from nano rock phosphate particles while 28.95% and 21.19% of the total P was solubilized by Aspergillus niger （black pigmented） and Aspergillus niger （green pigmented）, respectively. It was also observed that Aspergillus niger has the higher ability to dissolve Udaipur rock phosphate than Pseudomonas striata.

Utilization of nano Rock Phosphate by Maize （Zea mays L.） Crop in a Vertisol of Central India

An attempt was made in the present investigation to utilize the vast deposit of rock phosphate （RP） of India by preparing nano RP using modem tool of nano-science and nano-technology for field application to maize crop （Zea mays L.）. To evaluate the efficacy of different nano RP, a field experiment was conducted during kharif season （June to September） of 2012 at India Institute of Soil Science （IISS）, Bhopal, taking maize as a test crop. The experiment consisted of five treatments （control, nK （100%）, nPK （100%）, nK （I00%）＋ 60 kg P205） as nano RP through Udaipur nano RP （34% P205） and Udaipur nano RP （31% P205） were tested in randomized block design with four replications. The results showed that the shelling percentage, 1,000 grain weight, grain and stover yield, etc., were significantly higher in the maize plant treated with Udaipur nano RP （34% P205） as compared to the control, which was being at par with single super phosphate （SSP） treated plants. The total P content and its uptake were higher （0.65% and 40.29 kg/ha） in SSP treated plant, which was closely followed by Udaipur nano RP 34% （0.63% and 38.29 kg/ha） over the control （0.60% and 27.82 kg/ha）. The SSP treated plants had significantly highest apparent P recovery （47.98%） which was comparable to Udaipur nano RP （34% P205）, where as the Udaipur nano RP （31% P205） had the lowest. The additional n and K uptake by the plant was also observed with application of P sources, which were ranged from 16.5 kg/ha to 37.2 kg/ha and 27.9 kg/ha to 64.7 kg/ha under different P treatments. These results showed that crop utilization of P from nano RP was at par with that of P from SSP while yield response to P from nano RP was marginally lower than to P from SSP but serve as a cheaper source.

Mangrove provides a unique ecological niche to different microbes which play various roles in nutrient recycling as well as various environmental activities. The highly productive and diverse microbial community living in mangrove ecosystems continuously transforms dead vegetation and recycle nitrogen, phosphorus, sulphur and other nutrients that can later be used by the plants. Mangrove ecosystems are rich in organic matter, and however, in general, they are nutrient-deficient ecosystems, especially of nitrogen and phosphorus. The present study investigated depth wise variation of nitrifying bacteria, nitrogen fixing bacteria, total bacterial population along with nitrate-nitrogen, nitrite-nitrogen and other physicochemical parameters of soil during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon periods at three different sampling stations of mangrove sediments viz. deep forest region, rooted region and unrooted region. The microbial population was also found maximum in the deep forest sediment relative to the other two sites. Populations of cultureable microbes were found maximum in surface soil and decreased with increase in depth in Sundarban mangrove environment. A decreasing trend of total microbial load, nitrifying and nitrogen fixing bacteria with increase in depth were recorded throughout the year. Present study revealed the relationship among depth integrated variations of physicochemical components (viz. soil temperature, pH, salinity, nitrite nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen concentration) and total microbial load, nitrifying and nitrogen fixing bacteria microbial populations.

Objectives:Analyze the obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) treatment history in a group of participants who enrolled in a hypoglossal nerve stimulation trial Methods:Moderate-severe OSA patients with difficulty adhering to CPAP presented for enrollment in a multicenter ***-reported history on prior OSA medical therapy was collected at enrollment,including OSA diagnosis date,CPAP start and stop dates,oral appliance trial,and reasons for discontinuation or ***:The cohort consisted of 929 participants,83％ male,with a mean age (53.9 ± 10.5) *** percent (n =835) had complete CPAP information including 47％ (n =435) who discontinued therapy prior to enrollment and 43％ (n =400) who were still attempting CPAP but had inadequate *** rates were 60％ at 1-year,73％ at 3-years,and 86％ at *** appliance therapy was attempted by 171 patients for mean (1.8 ± 2.3) years,with 81％ abandonment at 1 year,89％ at 3-years,and 94％ at ***:In this CPAP-refractory cohort,high rates of CPAP abandonment were reported in the first several years with approximately half of the participants not receiving any treatment despite being diagnosed for ＞5 *** clinical follow-up and consideration of alternative treatment options is indicated in all OSA patients in order to ensure adequate longitudinal care.
