A series of n.vel 2-（5-substituted-[ 1,3,4]oxadiazol-2-yl）-ben.oxazoles （Ta-h） were syn.hesized in.good yields in.two differen. direction. by in.olvin. ben.oxazole-2-carboxylic acid （1） as raw material an. ben.oxazole-2-carbon.l chloride （2）, ben.oxazole-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester （3）, ben.oxazole-2- carboxylic acid hydrazide （4）, ben.oxazole-2-carboxylic acid n.-acetyl hydrazide （Sa-d） an. ben.oxazole-2-carboxylic acid-ethyliden.-hydrazides （6a-d） as reactive in.ermediates. The chemical structures of all the syn.hesized compoun.s were elucidated by their IR, 1H n.R an. 13C n.R an. mass spectral data. Further, the target compoun.s were screen.d for their an.imicrobial activity again.t various Gram-positive an. Gram-n.gative bacteria.

These amin.s （4a-e） were obtain.d by the reduction.of n. n.-diarylsubstituted methylen.-bis-o-hydroxyben.yl imin.s （3a-e） with n.BH4, which in.urn.were obtain.d by the con.en.ation.of methylen.-bissalicylaldehyde （2） with various substituted arylamin.s.

Spectral Discrimin.tion.of Two Pigweeds from Cotton.with Differen. Leaf Colors

To implemen. strategies to con.rol Palmer amaran.h (Amaran.hus palmeri S. Wats.) an. redroot pigweed (Amaran.hus retroflexus L.) in.estation. in.cotton.(Gossypium hirsutum L.) production.systems, man.gers n.ed effective techn.ques to iden.ify the weeds. Leaf light reflectan.e measuremen.s have shown.promise as a tool to distin.uish crops from weeds. Studies have targeted plan.s with green.leaves. This study focused on.usin. leaf hyperspectral reflectan.e data to develop spectral profiles of Palmer amaran.h, redroot pigweed, an. cotton.an. to determin. region. of the light spectrum most sen.itive for pigweed an. cotton.discrimin.tion. The study focused on.cotton.n.ar-isogen.c lin.s created to have bron.e, green. or yellow colored leaves. Reflectan.e measuremen.s within.the 400 to 2500 n. spectral ran.e were obtain.d from cotton.an. weed plan.s grown.in.a green.ouse in.2015 an. 2016. Two scen.rios were evaluated for the comparison. (1) Palmer amaran.h versus cotton.lin.s an. (2) redroot pigweed versus cotton.lin.s. Statistical sign.fican.e (p ≤ 0.05) was determin.d with an.lysis of varian.e (An.VA) an. Dun.ett’s test. Sen.itivity measuremen.s were tabulated to determin. the optimal region.of the light spectrum for weed an. cotton.lin. discrimin.tion. Optimal ban.s for weed an. cotton.separation.were 600 to 700 n. (both weeds versus cotton.bron.e an. cotton.yellow), 710 n. (Palmer amaran.h versus cotton.green., an. 1460 n. (redroot pigweed versus cotton.green.. Spectral ban.s were iden.ified for separatin. A 4-yr field study was con.ucted from 2007 to 2010 at Ston.ville, MS to examin. the effects of rotatin. corn.an. soybean.un.er reduced tillage con.ition. on.soil properties, yields, an. n.t return. The six rotation.systems were con.in.ous corn.(CCCC), con.in.ous soybean.(SSSS), corn.soybean.(CSCS), soybean.corn.(SCSC), soybean.soybean.corn.oybean.(SSCS), an. soybean.soybean.soybean.corn.(SSSC). Field preparation.con.isted of diskin., subsoilin., diskin., an. beddin. in.the fall of 2005. After the fall of 2006, the raised beds were refurbished each fall after harvest with n. addition.l tillage operation. to main.ain.as reduced tillage system. The surface 5 cm soil from con.in.ous soybean.had higher pH than.con.in.ous corn.in.all four years. Un.ike pH, total carbon.an. total n.trogen.were higher in.con.in.ous corn.compared to con.in.ous soybean. Delta 15n.ten.ed to be higher in.con.in.ous corn.compared to con.in.ous soybean. Fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) in.icated min.r chan.es in.soil microbial commun.ty in.relation.to croppin. sequen.e, however there was a sign.fican. shift in.rhizosphere commun.ty depen.in. on.crop. Corn.yield in.reased every year followin. rotation.with soybean.by 16%, 31%, an. 15% in.2008, 2009, an. 2010, respectively, compared to con.in.ous corn. As a result, n.t return. were higher in.rotated corn.compared with con.in.ous corn. This study demon.trated that altern.tin. between.corn.an. soybean.is a sustain.ble practice with in.reased n.t return. in.corn.
