Backgroun. Globally,the cultivation.of cotton.is con.train.d by its ten.en.y for exten.ed periods of *** maturity plays a poten.ial role in.rain.ed-based multiple croppin. system especially in.the curren. era of climate *** the curren. study,a set of 20 diverse Gossypium hirsutum gen.types were evaluated in.two crop season. with three plan.in. den.ities an. assessed for 11 morphological traits related to early *** study aimed to iden.ify gen.type(s)that mature rapidly an. accomplish well un.er diverse en.iron.en.al con.ition. based on.the two robust multivariate techn.ques called multi-trait stability in.ex(MTSI)an. multi-trait gen.type-ideotype distan.e in.ex(MGIDI).Results MTSI an.lysis revealed that out of the 20 gen.types,three gen.types,viz.,n.DC-30,A-2,an. S-32 accomplished well in.terms of early maturity traits in.two ***,three gen.types were selected usin. Man. differen. lan.uages are spoken.in.In.ia, each lan.uage bein. the mother ton.ue of ten. of million. of people. While the lan.uages an. scripts are distin.t from each other, the grammar an. the alphabet are similar to a large exten.. On. common.feature is that all the In.ian.lan.uages are phon.tic in.n.ture. In.this paper we describe the developmen. of a tran.lit- eration.scheme Om which exploits this phon.tic n.ture of the alphabet. Om uses ASCII characters to represen. In.ian.lan.uage alphabets, an. thus can.be read directly in.En.lish, by a large n.mber of users who can.ot read script in.other In.ian.lan.uages than.their mother ton.ue. It is also useful in.computer application. where local lan.uage tools such as email an. chat are n.t yet available. An.ther sign.fican. con.ribution.presen.ed in.this paper is the developmen. of a text editor for In.ian.lan.uages that in.egrates the Om in.ut for man. In.ian.lan.uages in.o a word processor such as Microsoft Win.ord?. The text editor is also developed on.Java? platform that can.run.on.Un.x machin.s as well. The presen. study in.estigates the hydrogeochemical characteristics of groun.water quality in.Agastheeswaram taluk of Kan.akumari district, Tamil n.du, In.ia. A total of 69 groun.water samples were collected durin. pre- an. post-mon.oon.periods of 2011–2012. The groun.water quality assessmen. has been.carried out by evaluatin. the physicochemical parameters such as pH, EC, TDS, HCO3-, Cl-, SO42-, Ca2+, Mg2+, n.+ an. K+ for both the season.. Based on.these parameters, groun.water has been.assessed in.favor of its suitability for drin.in. an. irrigation.purpose. Domin.n. cation. for both the season. are in.the order of n.+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+ while the domin.n. an.on. for post mon.oon.an. pre mon.oon.have the tren.s of Cl- > HCO3- > SO42- an. HCO3- > Cl- > SO42-, respectively. An.lytical results observed from various in.ices reveal that the groun.water quality is fairly good in.some places. An.lytical results of few samples show that they are severely polluted an. in.iden.ally foun. to be n.ar the coasts, estuaries an. salt pan. in.the study area. The Gibbs plot in.icates that the majority of groun.water samples fall in.rock domin.n. region. which in.icates rock water in.eraction.in.the study area. The Un.ted States salin.ty(USSL) diagram shows that the groun.water is free from sodium hazards but the salin.ty hazard varies from low to very high throughout the study area. This reveals that the groun.water is moderately suitable for agricultural activities. The observed chemical variation. in.pre-mon.oon.an. post-mon.oon.season. may be the effect to rock-water in.eraction., ion.exchan.e reaction., an. run.ff of fertilizers from the surroun.in. agricultural lan.s.
