The p.p.lation.structure of tree sp.cies has been.exp.ored in.order to elucidate regen.ration.p.ten.ial of the subalp.n. forests of In.ian.western.Himalaya. For this study, the subalp.n. forest area was divided in.o three strata, i.e., lower altitude （〈3000 m）; mid-altitude （3000-3200 m）; an. high altitude （〉3200m）. Con.iderin. the major comp.sition.l attributes, an.in.rease in.altitude came with a sign.fican. declin. in.tree den.ity an. the total basal area for all the sites. However, n. such clear tren.s were observed for recruits （i.e., seedlin.s an. sap.in.s）. Seedlin. den.ity did n.t exhibit un.form p.ttern. for sites an. altitude strata. In.gen.ral, overall seedlin. den.ity was greater at the p.n.ari site comp.red to the Lata an. Tun.n.th sites. By comp.rison. sign.fican. variation.in.seedlin. den.ity alon. the altitude strata was recorded for the Tun.n.th an. p.n.ari sites on.y. Likewise, sap.in. den.ity p.ttern. varied across the sites an. altitude strata, an. sign.fican. variation.in.sap.in. den.ity alon. the altitude strata was recorded on.y for the Lata site. At the p.n. daft site, the con.in.ous in.rease in.sap.in. den.ity alon. with in.reasin. altitude was revealin.. The p.n.ari forests of exhibited exp.n.in. p.p.lation.structure. In.con.rast, greater accumulation.of in.ividuals in.the sap.in. class an. sharp.declin. toward both higher tree classes an. lower seedlin. classes was gen.rally ap.aren. for the Lata an. Tun.n.th sites. This in.icates that the rep.acemen. in.tree size classes from sap.in. stage is n.t p.op.rtion.l an. the p.p.lation.may declin. in.the lon.-term. Con.iderable variation.in.p.ttern. of forest an. domin.n. sp.cies p.p.la- tion.structure were eviden. across altitude strata. But in.all cases irresp.ctive of sites, we foun. growth at the high-altitude stratum, in.the form of en.ire forests or domin.n. sp.cies. This tren. deserves further in.estigation.to exp.ore its relevan.e un.er chan.in. climate scen.rios.

This forest is dedicated to n.graj Devta an. is domin.ted by tree sp.cies, in.ludin. Quercus floribun.a, Quercus semecarp.folia an. Rhododen.ron.arboreum. The highest values of below groun. bio- mass den.ity, total biomass den.ity an. total carbon.den.ity were （34.81±1.68） Mg·ha^-1, （168.26±9.04） Mg·ha^-1 an. （84.13±4.18） Mg·ha^-1 for p.n.s wallichian.. Overall values of total biomass den.ity an. total carbon.den.ity calculated were 1549.704 Mg·ha^-1 an. 774.77 Mg·ha^-1 resp.ctively. Total value of growin. stock volume den.ity for all sp.cies was 732.56 m3·ha^-1 an. ran.ed from （144.97±11.98） m3·ha^-1 for p.n.s wallichian. to （7.78±1.78） m3·ha^-1for Ben.hamidia cap.tata.

The estimation.of carbon.den.ity of high altitude forests was carried out at five differen. sites alon. an.elevation.l gradien. from 1550 m to 3550 m in.a p.rt of Kedarn.th Wildlife San.tuary, which is on. of the largest p.otected areas of the Garhwal Himalaya, In.ia. Amon. the study sites the above groun. biomass den.ity （AGBD） ran.ed from 202.72 Mg·ha^-1 （Site 5） to 718.75 Mg·ha^-1 （Site 1） an. below groun. biomass den.ity （BGBD） from 61.00 Mg·ha^-1 （Site 5） to 203.04 Mg·ha^-1 （Site 1）. The total biomass den.ity （TBD） also followed similar tren., where the lowest value （263.73 Mg·ha^-1） was observed at Site 5 an. the highest （921.79 Mg·ha^-1） at Site 1. The total carbon.den.ity （TCD） ran.ed from 131.86 Mg·ha^-1 （Site 5） to 460.89 Mg·ha^-1 （Site 1）, which in.icates that the carbon.den.ity of forests reduces with in.reasin. elevation.

The p.ssibility of the life origin.in.the stellar systems, located at a distan.e of ~200 p. from the solar system, was in.estigated. The stars, in.the sp.ctrums of which C (carbon., O (oxygen., n.(n.trogen., an. p.(p.osp.orus) are foun., are called Dn.-stars. Based on.stellar abun.an.es a n.w method for searchin. for habitable exop.an.ts has been.develop.d an. a list of 48 Dn.-stars in.the solar n.ighborhood, on.which life is p.ssible, has been.defin.d. The quota of Dn.-stars is equal 1.3% of the total amoun. of Hyp.tia Stellar Catalog. On.y three Dn.-stars out of selected 48 stars belon. to the sp.ctral class as our Sun.(G2V). The closest to the solar system is the Dn.-star with the n.mber HIp.15510, which belon.s to the G8V class an. is 6 p. away from the solar system. n.n. Dn.-stars, which have the highest chemical similarity with solar sp.ctrum, were iden.ified. It is iden.ified that on. of these n.n. stars, HIp.24681, has six p.an.ts.
