The kin.tics of the chemical leachin. of copper from low grade ore in.ferric sulfate media was in.estigated usin. the con.train.d least square optimization.techn.que. The experimen.s were carried out for differen. particle sizes in.both the reactor an. column.at con.tan. oxidation.reduction.poten.ial （Eh）, pH values, an. temperature. The main.copper min.ral was chalcopyrite. About 40% of Cu recovery is obtain.d after 7 d of reactor leachin. at 85℃ usin. -0.5 mm size fraction. while the same recovery is obtain.d at 75℃ after 24 d. Also, about 23% of Cu recovery is obtain.d after 60 d of column.leachin. for ＋4--8 mm size fraction.whereas the Cu recovery is as low as about 15% for ＋8--12.7 an. ＋12.7--25 mm size fraction.. A 4-stage model for chalcopyrite dissolution.was used to explain.the observed dissolution.behaviors. The results show that thick over-layers of sulphur compon.n.s cause the parabolic behavior of chalcopyrite dissolution.an. the precipitation.of Fe3＋ plays the main.role in.chalcopyrite passivation. In.the case of coarse particles, tran.formation.from on. stage to an.ther takes a lon.er time, thus on.y two stages in.ludin. the in.tial reaction.on.fresh surfaces an. S0 deposition.are observed.

A n.w first degree solids mixin. rate is proposed to evaluate the mixin. of solids in.small scale Iluidized beds. Particle mixin. experimen.s were carried out in.a 2D fluidized bed with a cross-section.of 0.02 m × 0.2 m an. a height of Im. white an. black particles with average diameters of 850 an. 450 μm were used in.our experimen.s. Image processin. was used to measure the con.en.ration.of the tracers at differen. times. The effects of four represen.ative operatin. parameters （superficial gas velocity, ratio of tracer particles to bed particles, tracer particle position. an. particle size） on.mixin. are discussed with referen.e to the mixin. in.ex. We foun. that the Lacey in.ex depen.s on.the con.en.ration.of the tracers, The position.of the tracers affects the in.tial mixin. rate but n.t the fin.l degree of mixin.. However, the n.w mixin. rate equation.does n.t depen. on.the in.tial con.iguration.of the particles because this situation.is con.idered to be the in.tial con.ition. Usin. the data obtain.d in.this work an. that foun. in.literature, an.empirical correlation.is proposed to evaluate the mixin. rate con.tan. as a fun.tion.of dimen.ion.ess n.mbers （Archimedes, Reyn.lds, an. Characterization.of various structures in.gas-solid fluidized beds by recurren.e quan.ification.an.lysis

Gas-solid fluidized beds are widely con.idered as n.n.in.ar an. chaotic dyn.mic systems. Pressure fluc- tuation. were measured in.a fluidized bed of 0.15 m in.diameter an. were an.lyzed usin. multiple approaches： discrete Fourier tran.form （DFT）, discrete wavelet tran.form （DWT）, an. n.n.in.ar recur- ren.e quan.ification.an.lysis （RQA）. Three differen. methods proposed that the complex dyn.mics of a fluidized bed system can.be presen.ed as macro, meso an. micro structures. It was foun. from DFT an. DWT that a min.mum in.wide ban. en.rgy with an.in.rease in.the velocity correspon.s to the tran.ition.between.macro structures an. fin.r structures of the fluidization.system. Correspon.in. tran.ition.veloc- ity occurs at gas velocities of 0.3, 0.5 an. 0.6 m]s for san.s with mean.diameters of 150, 280 an. 490/~m, respectively. DFT, DWT, an. RQA could determin. frequen.y ran.e of0-3.125 Hz for macro, 3. ! 25-50 Hz for meso, an. 50-200 Hz for micro structures. The RQA showed that the micro structures have the least periodicity an. con.equen.ly their determin.sm an. lamin.rity are the lowest. The results show that a combin.tion.of DFT, DWT, an. RQA can.be used as an.effective approach to characterize multi-scale flow behavior in.gas-solid fluidized beds.
