In.this paper, n.w.solution. for the problem.of pose estim.tion.from.correspon.en.es betw.en.3D m.del lin.s an. 2D im.ge lin.s are proposed. Tradition.l lin.-based pose estim.tion.m.thods rely on.the assum.tion.that the n.ises(perpen.icular to the lin.) for the tw. en.poin.s are statistically in.epen.en.. How.ver, these tw. n.ises are in.fact n.gatively correlated w.en.the im.ge lin. segm.n. is fitted usin. the least-squares techn.que. Therefore, w. design.a n.w.error fun.tion.expressed by the average in.egral of the distan.e betw.en.lin. segm.n.s. Three least-squares techn.ques that optim.ze both the rotation.an. tran.lation.sim.ltan.ously are proposed in.w.ich the n.w.error fun.tion.is exploited. In.addition. Lie group form.lism.is utilized to describe the pose param.ters, an. then. the optim.zation.problem.can.be solved by m.an. of a sim.le iterative least squares m.thod. To en.an.e the robustn.ss to outliers existin. in.the m.tch data, an.m.estim.tion.m.thod is developed to con.ert the pose optim.zation.problem.in.o an.iterative rew.ighted least squares problem. The proposed m.thods are validated through experim.n.s usin. both syn.hetic an. real-w.rld data. The experim.n.al results show.that the proposed m.thods yield a clearly higher precision.than.the tradition.l m.thods.
