BACKGROUnD non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(nAfLD)is associated with obesity,insulin resistance and dyslipidaemia and currently is estimated to affect up to a third of all individuals in developed *** standard of care for patients varies according to disease stage,but includes lifestyle interventions common insulin sensitizers,antioxidants and lipid ***,to date specific therapies have shown little histological or fibrosis stage improvement in large clinical trials,and there is still no licensed therapy for *** the high prevalence,limited treatment options and significant screening costs for the general population,new treatments are urgently *** To assess the potential for inhibition of the amine oxidase enzyme vascular adhesion protein-1(VAP-1)to modify hepatic lipid accumulation in *** We have used immunochemical and qPCR analysis to document expression of VAP-1 and key functional proteins and transporters across the nAfLD *** then utilised hepatocytes in culture and human precision cut liver slices in concert with selective enzyme activity inhibitors to test the effects of activating the semicarbazide-sensitive amine oxidase activity of VAP-1 on hepatic lipid uptake and triglyceride export.A murine model of nAfLD was also used to determine the consequences of VAP-1 knockout and gene expression arrays were used to quantify the effects of VAP-1 activity on key lipid modifying and proinflammatory gene *** We confirmed that increasing severity of nAfLD and progression to cirrhosis was associated with a significant increase in hepatocellular VAP-1 *** in vitro exposed to recombinant VAP-1 and its substrate methylamine showed increased lipid accumulation as determined by quantification of Oil Red O *** was recapitulated using hydrogen peroxide,and lipid accumulation was accompanied by changes in expression of the lipid transporter molecules fABP3,fATP6,insulin recep

Modified thin manual Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty with air-guided, non-pachymetric donor lenticule dissection: outcomes of graft thickness and complication rate

●AIM:To describe a modified technique of donor lenticule dissection for thin manual Descemet stripping endothelial keratoplasty(TM-DSEK).●METHODS:Donor material was soaked in balanced salt solution(BSS)for 30 min,before being mounted on an artificial anterior chamber(AAC).Rather than BSS,the AAC was filled with filtered air,resulting in a visible reflection at the corneal endothelium-air *** reflection served as a landmark for the depth of the dissection,facilitating the creation of a thin lenticule with low risk of *** was commenced at a standardized depth of 500 microns,with no initial pachymetry *** 29 donor corneas were dissected by a novice TM-DSEK *** time,central graft thickness at 2 mo and complications were analysed.●RESULTS:Results were similar to other endothelial keratoplasty techniques,despite the cases being performed by a novice DSEK *** dissection time was 7 min(range 6-10).One graft perforation occurred(3.45%),but the air tamponaded the break and enabled dissection to be restarted and completed from a different *** central graft thickness after at least two months follow-up was 106 microns(range 25-170).●COnCLUSIOn:A problem with manual DSEK is the risk of graft perforation by attempting to dissect too thin a lenticule,or creating a thick graft due to fear of *** modified air-guided technique addresses this problem,and is recommended for surgeons either embarking on the learning curve,or who wish to achieve more consistently thin grafts while reducing perforation rates.

The preparation and behavior of powder stearin-based methyl ester sulfonates(MES)with the addition of builder as a glidant agent was *** is an anionic surfactant and its performance is equivalent to petroleum-based linear alkylbenzene sulfonates(LAS),the workhorses of the detergent *** the same time,zeolites or soda ash were the alternative builders for non-phosphate-based *** behavior of powder MES properties was measured in terms of morphology,particle size,cohesion,caking,and *** that,these palm stearin-based MES of carbon chain 16–18 with ratios of 98:2,80:20,and 60:40 in flakes were ground using a high shear mixer by 23,000 rpm to produce powder *** the particle size of MES powder can reduce the powder's cohesion,caking,and *** addition of zeolite or soda ash as a glidant in powdered MES can improve the caking *** high stearic in MES greatly influenced getting fine particle powders and required more glidant *** powder MES with excellent powder characteristics can perform well as a bio-based cleaning product.

Characterization and beneficiation of the Egyptian black shale for possible extraction of organic matter

The present paper focuses on obtaining concentrate enriched with organic matter that could be suitable for a retorting process from black shale; this is black shale from the Safaga area on the Red Sea Coast. X-ray diffraction and optical polarising microscope are used in evaluating black shale minerals. Attrition scrubbing and flotation were conducted for enrichment of organic matter in the black shale sample. Mineralogical studies revealed that black shale samples contain bituminous calcareous clay stone, quartz, apatite and pyrite. Rabah mine black shale contains 28% organic matter. The results of the different separation techniques indicate that attrition and flotation techniques successively enriched the organic matter in the black shale. The organic matter could be enriched in the black shale and obtained a concen- trate with 59% assavinz and 85% recovery.

Piwi-interacting Ribonucleic acids(piRnAs)molecule is a wellknown subclass of small non-codingRnAmolecules that are mainly responsible for maintaining genome integrity,regulating gene expression,and germline stem cell maintenance by suppressing transposon *** piRnAs molecule can be used for the diagnosis of multiple tumor types and drug *** to the vital roles of the piRnA in computational biology,the identification of piRnAs has become an important area of research in computational *** paper proposes a two-layer predictor to improve the prediction of piRnAs and their function using deep learning *** proposed model applies various feature extraction methods to consider both structure information and physicochemical properties of the biological sequences during the feature extraction *** outcome of the proposed model is extensively evaluated using the k-fold cross-validation *** evaluation result shows that the proposed predictor performed better than the existing models with accuracy improvement of 7.59%and 2.81%at layer I and layer II *** is anticipated that the proposed model could be a beneficial tool for cancer diagnosis and precision medicine.

The present investigation is intended to demonstrate the magnetic field,relaxation time,hydrostatic initial stress,and two temperature on the thermal shock *** governing equations are formulated in the context of Lord-Shulman theory with the presence of bodily force,two temperatures,thermal shock,and hydrostatic initial *** obtained the exact solution using the normal mode technique with appropriate boundary *** field quantities are calculated analytically and displayed graphically under thermal shock problem with effect of external parameters respect to space *** results obtained are agreeing with the previous results obtained by others when the new parameters *** results indicate that the effect of magnetic field and initial stress on the conductor temperature,thermodynamic temperature,displacement and stress are quite *** order to illustrate and verify the analytical development,the numerical results of temperature,displacement and stress are carried out and computer simulated results are presented *** study helpful in the development of piezoelectric devices.

Brain neoplasms are recognized with a biopsy,which is not commonly done before decisive brain *** using Convolutional neural networks(Cnns)and textural features,the process of diagnosing brain tumors by radiologists would be a noninvasive *** paper proposes a features fusion model that can distinguish between no tumor and brain tumor types via a novel deep learning *** proposed model extracts Gray Level Co-occurrence Matrix(GLCM)textural features from MRI brain tumor ***,a deep neural network(Dnn)model has been proposed to select the most salient features from the ***,it manipulates the extraction of the additional high levels of salient features from a proposed Cnn ***,a fusion process has been utilized between these two types of features to form the input layer of additional proposed Dnn model which is responsible for the recognition *** common datasets have been applied and tested,Br35H and figShare *** first dataset contains binary labels,while the second one splits the brain tumor into four classes;glioma,meningioma,pituitary,and no ***,several performance metrics have been evaluated from both datasets,including,accuracy,sensitivity,specificity,f-score,and training *** results show that the proposed methodology has achieved superior performance compared with the current state of art *** proposed system has achieved about 98.22%accuracy value in the case of the Br35H dataset however,an accuracy of 98.01%has been achieved in the case of the figShare dataset.

In our consideration,a comparison between four different types of controllers for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever beam excited by an external force is carried *** four types are the linear velocity feedback control,the cubic velocity feedback control,the non-linear saturation controller(nSC)and the positive position feedback(PPf)*** suitable type is the PPf controller for suppression the vibrations of the cantilever *** approximate solution obtained up to the first approximation by using the multiple scale *** PPf controller effectiveness is studied on the *** used frequency-response equations to investigate the stability of a cantilever *** notified that,there is a good agreement between the analytical solution and the numerical solution.

The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center(CIMMYT) is the global leader in publiclyfunded maize and wheat research and in farming systems based on these *** leads the Global Wheat Program(GWP), which includes some of the largest wheat breeding programs in the *** GWP has been successful in developing wheat germplasm that is used extensively *** quality improvement is a central component of all the breeding efforts at CIMMYT and the Wheat Chemistry and Quality Laboratory represents an integral part of the breeding *** quality is addressed at CIMMYT over the full range of this very wide and variable concept with milling,processing, end-use and nutritional quality *** progenitors and advanced lines developed by the breeders are assessed for diverse quality attributes, with the aim of identifying those that fulfill the requirements in terms of milling, processing, end-use and nutritional quality in different target *** research is conducted to make more efficient the integration of wheat quality traits in the breeding *** main topics being addressed are(1) methodologies to analyze grain quality traits,(2) genetic control and environmental effects on quality traits,(3) characterization of genetic resources for quality improvement, and(4) diversifying grain properties for novel uses.
