contaminants,such as polychlorinated biphenyls(PcBs),polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),heavy metals,and per and polyfluoroalkyl substances(PFASs),primarily reach the Arctic through long-range atmospheric and oceanic ***,local sources within the Arctic also contribute to the levels observed in the environment,including legacy sources and new sources that arise from activities associated with increasing commercial and industrial *** city of Iqaluit in Frobisher Bay,nunavut(canada),has seen rapid population growth and associated development during recent decades yet remains a site of interest for ocean protection,where Inuit continue to harvest country *** the present study,seven dated marine sediment cores collected in Koojesse Inlet near Iqaluit,and from sites in inner and outer Frobisher Bay,respectively,were analyzed for total mercury(THg),major and trace elements,PAHs,PcBs,and *** sedimentary record in Koojesse Inlet shows a period of Aroclor 1260-like PcB input concurrent with military site presence in the 1950e60s,followed by decades of input of pyrogenic PAHs,averaging about ten times background ***-surface sediments in Koojesse Inlet also show evidence of transient local-source inputs of THg and PFASs,and recycling or continued slow release of PcBs from legacy land-based *** in PFAS congener composition clearly distinguish the local sources from long-range *** Koojesse Inlet but still in inner Frobisher Bay,9.2 km from Iqaluit,sediments showed evidence of both local source(PcB)and longrange *** outer Frobisher Bay,an up-core increase in THg and PFASs in sediments may be explained by ongoing inputs of these contaminants from long-range *** context for ocean protection and country food harvesting in this region of the Arctic clearly involves both local sources and long-range transport,with past human activities leaving a long legacy insofar as levels of persistent o

Despite the potential ecological and economic impacts of invasive species,there is a dearth of data on the presence,impacts,and management implications of potentially invasive Orthoptera *** lack of research and inconsistent data,including risk screenings and impact assessments,is especially evident in ***,assessing the status,distribution,and potential threats of nonnative Orthoptera in Europe remains challenging,impeding the development of effective management *** address this gap,we call for increased efforts to collect and curate data on non-native and possibly invasive Orthoptera in *** efforts will improve our understanding of this order’s invasion dynamics,facilitate the identification of priority areas for conservation,and support the development of effective management policies and preventive measures.

This work reports the growth and characterization of p-AlInn layers doped with Mg by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy(PAMBE).AlInn was grown with an Al molar fraction of 0.80 by metal-modulated epitaxy(MME)with a thickness of 180 nm on Si(111)substrates using Aln as buffer *** substrate temperatures were used to enhance the incorporation of indium atoms into the alloy without clustering,as confirmed by X-ray diffraction(XRD).cathodoluminescence measurements revealed ultraviolet(UV)range ***,Hall effect measurements indicated a maximum hole mobility of 146 cm^(2)/(V∙s),corresponding to a free hole concentration of 1.23×10^(19)cm^(−3).The samples were analyzed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS)estimating the alloy composition and extracting the Fermi level by valence band ***-doped AlInn layers were studied for use as the electron-blocking layer(EBL)in LED *** varied the Al composition in the EBL from 0.84 to 0.96 molar fraction to assess its theoretical effects on electroluminescence,carrier concentration,and electric field,using SILVAcO *** results from this study highlight the importance and capability of producing high-quality Mg-doped p-AlInn layers through *** simulations suggest that an Al content of 0.86 is optimal for achieving desired outcomes in electroluminescence,carrier concentration,and electric field.

In this study,we investigated the anomalous chromomagnetic Dipole Moment(cMDM),denoted as μ_(q)^(BLHM),of light quarks q=(u,c,d,s,b) within the framework of the Bestest Little Higgs Model(BLHM)as an extension of the Standard Model(SM).Our investigation encompassed novel interactions among the light quarks,heavy quark B,and heavy bosons (W'^(±),H^(±),φ^(±),η^(±))incorporating the extended cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa(cKM)matrix characteristic of the *** thoroughly explored the permissible parameter space,yielding a spectrum of cMDM values ranging from 10^(-10) to 10^(-3).

Experimental validation of double-fed induction generator in oscillating water column using circulatory system-based optimization

This paper validates the optimal operation for a grid-connected double-fed induction generator(DFIG)in an oscillating water column power plant(OWcPP).This study presents a novel optimization technique called the circulatory system-based optimization(cSBO)approach to develop six adaptive fuzzy logic controllers(AFLcs)with 30 parameters and compare them to chaotic-billiards optimization(c-BO)and genetic algorithm(GA).The proposed controller is also compared with a proportional-integral differential(PID)controller based on a self-adaptive global-best harmony search(SGHS).cSBO-based AFLcs are fully investigated under different scenarios and experimented with using a real-time interface *** results of using cSBO-AFLcs revealed a fast time response,fast convergence,less overshoot and minimal error compared with those achieved with c-BO-AFLc,SGHS-PID and GA-AFLc during different case *** cSBO-based AFLcs ensure maximum power from the DFIG in an OWcPP and enhance dynamic response with very low *** results show that the cSBO shows better power tracking by 25%as compared with c-BO,by 45%when compared with the GA and by 56%when compared with ***,the integral absolute errors of six controllers are investigated to demonstrate the feasibility of *** root mean square of the errors of six controllers using cSBO is improved by 68.27%when compared with GA,by 22.57%when compared with c-BO and by 38.42%when compared with *** indicators demonstrate the feasibility of cSBO when compared with other algorithms with the same OWcPP.

Listening to music manipulates attention to be more externally focused,which has the potential to improve muscular *** study aimed to determine the effect of listening to music on muscle activation during an isometric exercise task,and compare this effect to those of other attentional focus *** healthy subjects(n=35;16 men/19 women)completed an isometric elbow flexion task for 1 min in three randomized and counterbalanced conditions:internal focus(InT),external focus with a simple distraction task(EXT),or listening to music(MUS).Muscle activation of the biceps and triceps brachii and heart rate(HR)were recorded throughout the exercise *** of perceived exertion(RPE),affective valence,and motivation were measured at the end of each *** was no difference in muscle activation measures among the three *** during MUS was lower than EXT at 15 s([89.4±11.8]beats/min vs.[93.1±12.9]beats/min;p=0.018)and 30 s([90.6±12.4]beats/min vs.[94.2±12.5]beats/min;p=0.026),and lower than InT at 60 s([93.3±13.3]beats/min vs.[96.7±12.0]beats/min;p=0.016).Overall RPE was higher for InT(13.4±2.2)than for MUS([12.6±2.0];p=0.020)and EXT([11.94±2.22];pctive valence was higher for MUS than for InT([2.7±1.4]vs.[2.1±1.5];p=0.011).Manipulating attentional focus did not alter muscle activation for a light-intensity isometric muscular endurance task,though MUS was reported as more positive and requiring less exertion to complete than *** music can therefore be recommended during light-intensity isometric exercise based on the psychological benefits observed.

Rotating effects on the photoionization cross-section of a 2D quantum ring

In this article, we investigate the nonrelativistic quantum motion of a charged particle within a rotating frame, taking into account the Aharonov–Bohm(AB) effect and a uniform magnetic field. Our analysis entails the derivation of the equation of motion and the corresponding radial equation to describe the system. Solving the resulting radial equation enables us to determine the eigenvalues and eigenfunctions, providing a clear expression for the energy levels. Furthermore,our numerical analysis highlights the substantial influence of rotation on both energy levels and optical properties. Specifically, we evaluate the photoionization cross-section with and without the effects of rotation. To elucidate the impact of rotation on the photoionization process of the system, we present graphics that offer an appealing visualization of the intrinsic nature of the physics involved.
