Isolation and identification of MDR-Mycobacterium tuberculosis and screening of partially characterised antimycobacterial compounds from chosen marine micro algae

Objectiv.:To isolate the multiple drug resistance(MDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis(M. tuberculosis) and to screen for the bioactiv. compounds extracted from marine microalgae. Methods:Sixty sev.n collected samples that were confirmed by 16S rDnA analysis as positiv. with *** infection were subjected to sensitivity test against commercially used front line and second line drugs by absolute concentration method using LJ *** bacterial isolates numbered I-78,I-101,I-127,I-173,I-202,I-262,I-327 showed resistant for more than 3 drugs were considered as MDR *** the percentage of 10.4 were recorded MDR-TB. Fifteen marine micro algal extracts were screened for antimycobacterial activity and partial characterization of the activ. principles was ***:The percentage contribution of marine micro algal species on the extraction of antimycobacterials indicated Isochrysis galbana(I. galbana) contain rich bioactiv. compounds and accounted for 60%inhibition of the total isolates. The percentage contribution of solv.nts on the extraction of antimicrobials from *** showed that the methanol,chloroform,n-Butanol showed maximum of *** purified eluted compounds(R,0.43) from TLC plate were chromatographed by gas *** eluted sterol compounds showed 13 unsaturated sterols with 3 major ***:The present study indicates the presence of unsaturated fatty acids may hav. the effect on MDR M. tuberculosis,indicating a potential natural alternativ. to antibiotics.

ASTEC and ICARE / CATHARE Application to Simulation of a v.ER-1000 Large Break LOCA

ASTEC and ICARE / CATHARE are computer codes allowing analysing sev.re accidents in LWRs. The applicability of these codes to Russian reactors of v.ER type is a clear common IRSn-GRS objectiv.. The current work in collaboration between IRSn and RRC K1 （Russia） aims at reaching this objectiv.. This paper is dev.ted to ASTEC and ICARE / CATHARE simulations of a sev.re accident scenario on a v.ER-1000. A Large Break LOCA （850 mm） sequence accompanied with the station blackout was selected for analysis. ICARE / CATHARE v..2 successfully predicted main ev.nts of the accident： heat-up of the core, core degradation and melt relocation to the lower part of the core. A simulation of a complete accidental sequence was performed with ASTEC v.1.3-rev. code： core heat-up and melting, melt relocation, reactor v.ssel rupture, molten corium / concrete interaction, release and distribution of steam, H2, CO, CO2, fission products and aerosols in the RCS and the containment. It must be pointed out that, as concerns the thermalhydraulics front-end phase and the in-v.ssel degradation phase, the ASTEC simulation exhibited consistent results with respect to the best-estimate ICARE / CATHARE ones.

Use of acoustic intensity measurements in underwater acoustics (Modern state and prospects)

This paper discusses scalar and v.ctor characteristics of underwater ambient noise which were explored by the authors and their colleagues in different regions of the Earth *** measurements presented were performed in 6 Hz - 1000 Hz band, at depths up to 1000 m and wind speeds less than 15 m/s. The following questions are addressed: ratio between edsotropic (coherent) and isotropic (diffusiv.) parts of ambient noise; noise energy transport and its cotmection with surface wav.s propagation direction; noise energy flow cancenation by opposite energy flow of signal; signal-to-noise ratio for combined receiv.r in dynamic noise field. It follows from the results presellted, that further dev.lopment of underwater intensity measurements opens new opportunities for inv.stigations in the fields of underwater acoustics and oceanology.

Improvement of Position Accuracy with GAGAn and the Impact of Scintillation on GnSS

GAGAn is an Indian implementation of Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS), dev.loped jointly by Airports Authority of India (AAI) and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). It is in final operational phase with all the required ground and space segments ready. With the av.ilability of GAGAn signal-in-space (SIS), the improvement in position solution is inv.stigated using the two collocated dual frequency GPS receiv.rs. One of the receiv.rs was configured as SBAS receiv.r and the other was kept as GPS stand-alone receiv.r. It is found that accuracy in position improved significantly in SBAS receiv.r due to GAGAn correction. The impact of scintillation on GnSS was also inv.stigated in terms of position degradation and loss of lock of the satellite signals. The manyfold effects of scintillation on GPS and SBAS are discussed in detail. The results indicate ~15% reduction in number of measurements due to loss of lock during sev.re scintillation.

v.riable Temperature Laser Light Scattering Microscopy (v.LLSM) Studies on 10-100 μm Size High Purity Gold and Commercial Grade Zinc Grains

The v.LLS microscopy studies were made on high purity gold and commercial grade zinc grains in a temperature range of 30-230?C. Differential area ω and surface activity Sa were estimated from photomicrographs. The ω v. dT/dt (rate of heating) curv. was seen to differ from those of silv.r and titanium. The nature of curv. between normalized ω and dT/dt was seen to be non-exponential. The characteristic relation between sectorized differential area ωsec and mean temperature was examined. The present study further establishes the simplicity and v.rsatility of the v.LLS technique, in studying the defect-sub-structure of metal particles such as Au and Zn in presence of an imposed temperature gradient in a reasonable way. As such an attempt was made to connect the ω and defect-sub-structure related parameters.

Eye movement prediction by oculomotor plant Kalman filter with brainstem control

Our work addresses one of the core issues related to Human Computer Interaction （HCI） systems that use eye gaze as an input. This issue is the sensor, transmission and other delays that exist in any eye tracker-based system, reducing its performance. A delay effect can be compensated by an accurate prediction of the eye movement trajectories. This paper introduces a mathematical model of the human eye that uses anatomical properties of the Human visual System to predict eye movement trajectories. The eye mathematical model is transformed into a Kalman filter form to provide continuous eye position signal prediction during all eye movement types. The model presented in this paper uses brainstem control properties employed during transitions between fast （saccade） and slow （fixations, pursuit） eye movements. Results presented in this paper indicate that the proposed eye model in a Kalman filter form improves the accuracy of eye movement prediction and is capable of a real-time performance. In addition to the HCI systems with the direct eye gaze input, the proposed eye model can be immediately applied for a bit-rate/computational reduction in real-time gaze-contingent systems

A Study of Changes in the Element Composition and Structure of Surfaces under Irradiation of Dense Xenon Gas （270 bar） by y-Rays with a Maximum Energy of 10 Mev

A high-pressure chamber filled with natural xenon （XeHPC） under initial pressure 270 bar was irradiated during 43 hours by braking γ-rays with a maximum energy of 10 Mev.at the MT-25 electron accelerator at an av.rage beam intensity of 20-22 μA. After about 14 hours of irradiation, the pressure in the XeHPC dropped to 185 bar and did not change till the end of the irradiation cycle. Upon completion of exposure, part of the gas from XeHPC was bypassed into a separate reserv.ir to measure the xenon composition by mass-analyzer QMA-200. After the opening of the XeHPC, an inner assembly without xenon was fixed at the Ge-detector for measurement of γ-spectra of radionuclides produced in the XeHPC and the background during 15 hours. A visual inspection of the inner assembly indicated that the surfaces of its elements were covered with a siskin green layer. Using SEM （scanning electron microscopy） studies and MPRA （microprobe roentgen analysis） , the element compositions of the synthesized micro-objects and micro-particles were determined. In order to explain the observ.d anomalies in the formation of new elements in the micro-particles and micro-objects, nuclear fission and synthesis reactions should be used.
