Ba.kground: Gia.t cell tumors of the lumba. spine a.e ra.e a.d complete resection without ma.or functiona. comprise is cha.lenging despite a.va.cements in spine surgery techniques. Ra.ia.ion thera.y ha. been a. option in such ca.es;however there a.e high concerns for a.socia.ed high sma.l bowel toxicity a.d la.k of dose esca.a.ion to a.hieve loca. control. With a.vent of intensity modula.ed ra.ia.ion thera.y (IMRT) it is now possible to give high ra.ia.ion dose to tumor with minima. toxicity. Herein we present a.ra.e ca.e of gia.t cell tumor of fourth lumba. (L4) vertebra.trea.ed with Ra.ida.c intensity modula.ed a.c thera.y (IMa.) with releva.t review of litera.ure. Methods: a.30-yea.-old fema.e ha. low ba.k pa.n for 6 months. She underwent surgica. decompression a. a.other hospita. a. ha.ing a.L4-5 protruded intervertebra. disc 2 months previously, but her ba.k pa.n progressed with wea.ness of both legs with restricted movement. Ra.iologica. a.d pa.hologica. work-up confirmed the dia.nosis of gia.t cell tumor of L4 vertebra. She refused further surgery a.d wa. referred to us for ra.iothera.y. Trea.ment pla.s for prescribed ra.ia.ion dose of 59.4 Gy in 30 fra.tions were ma.e by 3DCRT a.d Ra.ida.c IMa. a.d compa.ison wa. ma.e. Student’s unpa.red t test wa. used to determine the significa.ce of the difference between two pla.s in terms of dose to the tumor a.d sma.l bowel. a.p va.ue of 0.05 wa. considered sta.istica.ly significa.t. Rela.ed litera.ure wa. sea.ched. Results: In Ra.ida.c IMa. a.d 3DCRT pla.s mea. doses to pla.ning trea.ment volume (PTV) were 61.24 Gy (55.98 - 66.23) a.d 60.71 Gy (49.87 - 63.74) respectively (p 0.04) a.d mea. doses to sma.l bowel were found lesser in Ra.ida.c pla. [14.78 Gy (ra.ge: 0.39 - 53.15)] a. compa.ed to 3DCRT pla.. Pa.ient wa. sta.ted on Ra.ida.c IMRT a.d she completed the course without a.y ma.or sequela.. Conclusion: Lumba. spine gia.t cell tumors a.e ra.e a.d complete resection is often not possible. Ra.ida.c IMa. is a.fea.ibl

Ba.kground: Penile toxicity a.ter preopera.ive concurrent chemora.ia.ion (CCRT) for recta. ca.cers is extremely ra.e a.d only two ca.es of phimosis a.d one ca.e of recto-ca.ernosa.fistula.ha.e been reported so fa. in litera.ure. Preopera.ive CCRT for recta. ca.cer is given in prone position a.d with the support of belly boa.d (BBD) to a.oid sma.l bowel toxicity. However, positiona. errors during recta. ra.iothera.y ca. lea. to unexpected penile toxicity. Ca.e Presenta.ion: a.50-yea.-old Sa.di ma.e with dia.nosed ca.e of recta. a.enoca.cinoma.sta.e cT3N1M0 wa. given preopera.ive CCRT 50.4 Gy in 28 fra.tions with three-dimensiona. conforma. ra.ia.ion thera.y (3DCRT) in prone position using belly boa.d with concurrent ora. ca.ecita.ine 825 mg/2 twice a.da.. a.ter the completion of CCRT, he compla.ned of severe soreness, itching over gla.s penis a.d dysuria. Exa.ina.ion revea.ed gra.e 3 erythema. skin desqua.a.ion over gla.s penis (ba.a.itis). Porta. ima.ing of trea.ment revea.ed gla.s penis to lie within posterior ra.ia.ion bea.. a.pa.ient wa. a.sured a.d he recovered fully a.ter loca. steroids a.d short course of a.tibiotics. Conclusion: Penile toxicity a.ter CCRT for recta. ca.cer is extremely ra.e ma.ifesta.ion. Ra.ia.ion oncologists a.d thera.ists must be a.a.e of this ra.e side effect a.d must a.sure proper pa.ient educa.ion a.d positioning during CCRT for recta. ca.cer.

Ba.kground: The risk of ca.otid vessel stenosis is high a.ter ra.iothera.y (RT) to neck;however, ca.otid vessels a.e una.oida.le during supra.la.icula. (SC-RT) in a.juva.t trea.ment of brea.t ca.cer (BC). However, ca.otid vessels RT dose is less well-understood. We a.med to determine the ca.otid vessels doses received by different techniques for SC-RT. Ma.eria.s a.d Methods: Thirty consecutive BC pa.ients were pla.ned to receive SC-RT a.d brea.t a.ter brea.t conserving surgery (BCS) a.ter ta.ing 5 mm ima.e slices on computed tomogra.hy (CT) simula.ion. Orga.s a. risk (Oa.) including ca.otid vessels, lungs, spina. cord a.ongwith clinica. ta.get volume (CTV) for prima.y tumor a.d lymph nodes were delinea.ed. Compa.a.ive a.a.ysis wa. done between two trea.ment pla.s;three-field conforma. ra.ia.ion thera.y (3F-CRT) a.d four field conforma. RT (4F-CRT) for CTV a.d ca.otid vessels doses. Results: The 4F-CRT wa. found better tha. 3F-3DCRT rega.ding covera.e a.d homogeneity of the CTV volume. The 98% of the CTV wa. covered by 84% dose in 3F-CRT a.d 95% in 4F-CRT (p 0.001). The ca.otid vessels ma.imum dose in the in 3F-CRT wa. 54.5 ± 1.3 Gy compa.ed to 51.6 ± 1.3 Gy in 4F-CRT (p 0.014), however the mea. dose did not differ significa.tly (p va.ue 0.8). The ipsila.era. lung dose did not differ between the two techniques (p Va.ue 0.9). Conclusion: The 4F-CRT pla. wa. found better tha. 3F-CRT in CTV covera.e with minima. dose to the ca.otid vessel a.d without significa.t higher dose to the ipsila.era. lung.

Inducing opto-electronic a.d spintronic trends in bila.er h-BN through TMO3 clusters incorpora.ion: a.-initio study

The ba.d structure, ma.netism, cha.ge distribution, a.d optics pa.a.eters of TMO3–h-BN hybrid systems a.e investiga.ed by a.opting first-principles study(FPS) ca.cula.ions. It is observed tha. the TMO3 clusters a.d finite ma.netic moments to bila.er h-BN(BL/h-BN), thereby ma.ing it a.ma.netic two-dimensiona.(2D) ma.eria.. Spin-pola.ized ba.d structures for va.ious TMO3–BL/h-BN hybrid models a.e ca.cula.ed. a.ter the incorpora.ion of TMO3, BL/h-BN is converted into semimeta. or conducting ma.eria. in spin up/down ba.ds, depending on the type of impurity cluster present in BL/h-BN la.tice. Optics pa.a.eters a.e a.so investiga.ed for the TMO3–BL/h-BN complex systems. The incorpora.ion of TMO3 clusters modifies the a.sorption a.d extinction coefficient in visible ra.ge, while sta.ic reflectivity a.d refra.tion pa.a.eter increa.e.
