The geology and hydro-geophysical features can aid in identifying borehole *** study aims to investigate groundwater aquifers and best location of boreholes in the crystalline basement area of Abu Zabad near El Obeid Southwest,*** study area is underlain by two aquifers formations from Precambrian *** oldest units of basement complex of area under investigation consist of metamorphic rocks including gneiss,schist,and *** geophysical methods electromagnetic(Em.a.d vertical electrical sounding(VES)surveys showed that best aquifers yield for construction of boreholes are in weathering and fractures *** Em results revealed that structural features are significant for groundwater potential and interpretation of the VES data also revealed four geo-electric layers,but generally two distinct lithologic layers,which include Superficial deposit and bedrock-basement *** curves generated from the data revealed H curve and HK curve,and thickness of these layers varies from 15 m to 50 m in the *** aquifer thickness range from 20 m to 30 *** study concludes that these techniques are suitable for identifying borehole location in the basement rock in Abu Zabad Area Sudan.

Singularly perturbed boundary value problem with nonlocal conditions is examined. The appopriate solution exhibits boundary layer behavior for small positive values of the perturbative parameter. An exponentially fitted finite difference scheme on a non-equidistant mesh is constructed for solving this problem. The uniform convergence analysis in small parameter is given. Numerical example is provided, too.

The extended Brinkman Darcy model for momentum equations and an energy equation is used to calculate the unsteady natural convection Couette flow of a viscous incompressible heat generating/absorbing fluid in a vertical channel （formed by two infinite vertical and parallel plates） filled with the fluid-saturated porous medium. The flow is triggered by the asymmetric heating and the accelerated motion of one of the bounding plates. The governing equations are simplified by the reasonable dimensionless parameters and solved analytically by the Laplace transform techniques to obtain the closed form solutions of the velocity and temperature profiles. Then, the skin friction and the rate of heat transfer are consequently derived. It is noticed that, at different sections within the vertical channel, the fluid flow and the temperature profiles increase with time, which are both higher near the moving plate. In particular, increasing the gap between the plates increases the velocity and the temperature of the fluid, however, reduces the skin friction and the rate of heat transfer.

The intrinsic viscosity [η], Huggins constant （Ku）, [η]0, α^3 and flow activation energy values of nylon 6 have been m.a.ured in wateηm-cresol （0/100-20/80） systems at different temperatures （20-60℃）. It has been found that the intrinsic viscosity, [η]0 and α^3 increase with the increase in water contents in m-cresol up to 15% and then decrease. They increase with the increase in temperature irrespective of solvent composition. It has been noted that the percent increase of α^3 is the highest at 60℃ and the lowest at 20℃ for a particular solvent system. The intrinsic viscosity data obey Arrhenius equation over the considered conditions. The activation energy and the KH values decrease very sharply with the addition of water, giving a minimum value at 15% of water and then increase slowly. The variation of all the parameters has been explained in terms of variation in thermodynamic quality of solvent with the addition of water to m-cresol and change in temperature, resulting in the change of conformational and orientational properties of polymer molecules. This change of solvent quality also results in variation of selective sorption of solvent over the polymer, such as hydrogen bonding, etc.

Effect of tapping tools and date of tapping on Acacia polyacantha gum yield in South Kordofan State, Sudan

A study was conducted in South Kordofan, Sudan to determine the effect of tapping, tapping tools and date of tapping on the gum yield of Acacia polyacantha. A two-factor experiment was conducted for two seasons in 2008-2009. One location was used for two seasons and two locations for one season. The first factor （4 levels） was the tools of tapping： makmak, Farrar, and Sonki, and the control which was not tapped. The second factor （2 levels） was the date of tapping that comprises mid October and mid November. These treatments were arranged in Randomaized Complete Block Design and replicated three times. Gum yield （g/tree and g/ picking） was recorded for five pickings. Economic analysis was done using the partial budget technique. The results showed highly significant （p 〈 0.01） differences on gum yield （g/picking and g/tree）. The results indicated that the process of tapping increases gum production by 88.4% and 79.8% com.a.ed with un-tapped trees, respectively. The date of tapping has no significant effect on gum yield （g/tree and g/picking） of A. polyacantha. Tapping of the tree with makmak in mid- November was found to be economically beneficial com.a.ed to using the other tools and the control. These results could identify a new source of income for the poor farmers in South Kordofan mainly because of the wild occurrence of Kakamut as a potential gum producing tree species grown naturally in the area.

Calix[n]arenes was utilized to detect PABA,the primary sunscreen *** study investigates the interaction of calix[4]arene(C4),calix[6]arene(C6),and PABA using the Langmuir method and first-principle density functional theory(DFT).Using the Langmuir-Schaefer(LS)technique,an ultrathin film composed of calix[n]arenes and their complexes with PABA was deposited on various *** on the Langmuir study,the PABA molecule was bonded to the lower rims of both C4 and C6 with the host-guest ratio of 1:*** of the LS films formed were then characterized by ultravioletvisible spectroscopy(UV-Vis),Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR)and carbon,hydrogen,nitrogen,sulfur elemental analyzer(CHNS).The band gap reduction obtained in the DFT study denotes the charge transfer interaction with promising reactivity between the calix[n]arenes and *** sensing of PABA by C4 and C6 is successful based on the formation of bonding between them due to the hosts’effective trapping *** outcomes of this study could be applied to drug delivery systems for future pharmaceutical and medical applications.

Acacia senegal, the gum.a.abic producing tree, is the most important tree species for the livelihood of the people in South Kordofan State, Sudan. The objective of this study was to determine the optimum tapping date for gum.a.abic production in the study area. A randomized complete block design experiment with three replications was conducted at （m.a.） area for two continuous growing seasons 2008/2009 - 2009/2010. The treatments comprised six tapping dates （1 Oct, 15 Oct, 1 Nov, 15 Nov, 1 Dec, and 15 Dec）. Results ishowed highly significant differences （p 〈 0.001） in gum.a.abic yield （g／tree） in all pickings and in the total gum yield between the tapping dates. The results also showed that tapping of trees on 15 October and 1 November gave a higher yield com.a.ed to the other dates. The highest gum yield of 1086.6 and 661.2 g/tree was recorded on 15 October and 15 November, while the lowest gum yield of 297.9 g/tree was recorded when the trees were tapped on 1 October. The two highest-yield dates of tapping （15 Oct and 1 Nov） are recommended as the best time for tapping for gum.a.abic production in South Kordofan State. These results can be used to increase gum.a.abic production and farmer income in South Kordofan State.

The refractive index increment, dynamic and static laser light scattering, intrinsic viscosity [η] and Huggins constant （KH） of nylon 12 have been m.a.ured in m-cresol and sulphuric acid/water system.a. 10-60℃. The intrinsic viscosity, Rn, Rg, A2, and （〈 S 〉2）^1/2 （calculated from viscosity data） and ＂a＂ values of nylon 12 are found to be higher in m-cresol than in sulphuric acid. All these parameters decrease with the increase in water contents in sulphuric acid. The refractive index increment, KH and activation energy show an opposite trend to that of [η]. The intrinsic viscosity, RH, Rg, A2, and （〈 S 〉2）^1/2 have maximum values around 30-40℃ in sulphuric acid/water system, whereas in m-cresol they fall at about 20℃. It has been concluded that the variation in size, interaction parameter （second virial coefficient）, [η] and KH of the polymer solutions with the alteration in solvent composition and temperature are the out come of change in thermodynamic quality of solvents, selective adsorption, hydrogen bonding and conformational transitions. It has also been concluded that the increase in temperature first enhances the quality of the solvent, encourages hydrogen bonding and specific adsorption, and then deteriorates, bringing conformational transitions in the polymer molecules. However, the addition of water to sulphuric acid continuously deteriorates the solvent quality. This characteristic of the solvent system brings conformational changes in the polymer especially at low temperatures.

There are a few studies on the use of ferro-nanofluids for enhanced oil recovery,despite their magnetic properties;hence,it is needed to study the adsorption of iron oxide(Fe2 O3 and Fe3 O4) nanoparticles(NPs) on rock *** is important as the colloidal transport of NPs through the reservoir is subject to particle adsorption on the rock *** dynamics simulation was used to determine the interfacial energy(strength) and adsorption of Fe2 O3 and Fe3 O4 nanofluids infused in reservoir *** transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray photon spectroscopy(XPS) were used to monitor interaction of silicate species with Fe2 O3 and Fe3 *** spectral changes show the variation of dominating silicate anions in the ***,the XPS peaks for Si,C and Fe at 190,285 and 700 eV,respectively,are less distinct in the spectra of sandstone aged in the Fe3 O4 nanofluid,suggesting the intense adsorption of the Fe3 O4 with the crude *** m.a.ured IFT for brine/oil,Fe2 O3/oil and Fe3 O4/oil are 40,36.17 and 31 mN/m,***3 O4 infused with reservoir sandstone exhibits a higher silicate sorption capacity than Fe2 O3,due to their larger number of active surface sites and saturation magnetization,which accounts for the effectiveness of Fe3 O4 in reducing IFT.
