Thin films of ZnxCd1-xs have been prepared by electron beam evaporation of a mixture of Zns & Cds powders. The films are deposited onto sodalime glass slides under similar *** composition of the films is varied from Cds to Zns (x=0 to 1). The films show a regular change in color from toner red to orange yellow as Zn concentration increases to *** films are characterized for their optical, electricaI and structural properties. The bandgap value of ZnxCd1-xs films is found to vary linearIy from 2.20 eV to 3.44 eV with change in the x value from 0 to 1. The resistivity of these films is in the range of 171.0 Ωcm to 5.5× 106Ωcm for x=0~0.6. All the samples show cubic structure after annealing in air at 250℃ for 40 *** lattice constant ao varies from 0.5884 nm to 0.54109 nm linearly.

Development and Evaluation of species-specific Biomass Models for Most Common Timber and Fuelwood species of Bangladesh

Allometric biomass models are efficient tools to estimate biomass of trees and forest stands in a non-destructive way. Development of species-specific allometric biomass models requires extensive fieldwork and time. Our study aimed to generate species-specific allometric biomass models for the most common fuelwood and timber species of Bangladesh. We also wanted to evaluate the performances of our models relative to the performances of regional and commonly used pan-tropical biomass models. We used semi-destructive method that incorporates tree-level volume, species-specific biomass expansion factor (BEF), and wood density. We considered four base models, 1) Ln (biomass) = a + bLn (D);2) Ln (biomass) = a + bLn (H);3) Ln (Biomass) = a + bLn (D^2H);4) Ln (Biomass) = a + bLn (D) + cLn (H) to develop species-specific best-fitted models for Total Above-Ground Biomass (TAGB) and stem biomass. The best-fitted model for each species was selected by the lowest value of Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), Residual standard Error (RsE) and Root Mean square Error (RMsE). The derived best-fitted models were then evaluated with respect to regional and pan-tropical models using a separate set of observed data. This evaluation was conducted by computing ME (Model Efficiency) and MPE (Model Prediction Error). The best-fitted allometric biomass models have shown higher model efficiency (0.85 to 0.99 at scale 1) and the lowest model prediction error (-8.94% to 5.27%) compared to the regional and pan-tropical models. All the examined regional and pan-tropical biomass models showed different magnitude of ME and MPE. some models showed higher level (>0.90 at scale 1) of ME compared to the best-fitted specific species biomass model.

In the present work on population status,threats and conservation of the spotted pond turtle;Geoclemys hamiltonii(Gray,1830)(Geoemydidae)was conducted in Thatta,sujawal and Badin districts of sindh province of Pakistan.A total number of 277 live specimens of *** from southeast province(sindh)of Pakistan have been collected from different water bodies and sites in three consecutive year’s i.e *** population status of *** has recorded as decreasing in sindh due to habitat destruction,eutrophication,agricultural farming and some other anthropogenic *** species is mostly used as pet and the poachers mostly carrying this species for trade in East Asian *** globally illegal trading hubs of this species are Bangkok,Taiwan and Hong *** and powerful actions and efforts are needed to raise awareness of smuggling of wildlife,with a specific need of formal memorandums of understanding(MOUs)are strongly encouraged south Asian and east Asian countries to control illegal trade between the countries and territories along the trade route of Bangladesh,India,Pakistan,Thailand,Hong Kong and Taiwan to improve cross border enforcement.

The Na+ - K+ ATPase is an enzyme responsible for the active transport of Na+ and K+ in most eukaryotic cells. The aim of the present study was to determine the effect of Tachykinin neuropeptide, Neurokinin B (NKB) and Amyloid beta fragment Aβ (25 - 35) on 17β estradiol (E2) treated aging female rat brain synaptosomes of different age groups, by assaying Na+ - K+ ATPase enzyme activity. An in vitro incubation of isolated synaptosomes with Aβ (25 - 35) showed toxic effects while NKB showed stimulating effect on the Na+ - K+ ATPase activity, and the combined NKB + Aβ (25 - 35) incubations showed a partial effect as compared to the Aβ (25 - 35) alone. To understand whether E2 affects the expression of Na+ - K+ ATPase molecules, we examined the expression of Na+ - K+ ATPase subunit α1 and β2 in E2 treated aging female rat brain synaptosomes. The enzyme was quantified by sDs PAGE in control and E2 treated rat brain. We observed that the expression of α1 and β2 Na+ - K+ ATPase molecules increased and reversed to a normal level in E2 treated synaptosomes. These results confirmed that E2 increased turnover of Na+ - K+ ATPase molecules in aging rat brain. The present findings also suggest a possible role of NKB with E2 in the age related changes in the brain.

Carbon-supported nanocomposites are attracting particular attention as high-performance,low-cost electrocatalysts for electrochemical water *** are mostly prepared by pyrolysis and hydrothermal procedures that are time-consuming(from hours to days)and typically difficult to produce a nonequilibrium ***,for the first time ever,we exploit magnetic induction heating-quenching for ultrafast production of carbon-FeNi spinel oxide nanocomposites(within seconds),which exhibit an unprecedentedly high performance towards oxygen evolution reaction(OER),with an ultralow overpotential of only+260 mV to reach the high current density of 100 mA cm^(-2).Experimental and theoretical studies show that the rapid heating and quenching process(ca.10^(3)K s^(-1))impedes the Ni and Fe phase segregation and produces a Cl-rich surface,both contributing to the remarkable catalytic *** from this study highlight the unique advantage of ultrafast heating/quenching in the structural engineering of functional nanocomposites to achieve high electrocatalytic performance towards important electrochemical reactions.

Neuroblastoma in saudi Children: A single Center Experience (2006-2014)

Introduction: Neuroblastoma is the most common extracranial solid tumor in childhood and survival rate has improved during the last few decades. Only a few studies, related to Neuroblastoma in saudi Arabian children, have been performed. We report epidemiologic data and our clinical experience from the department of Pediatric Hematology Oncology (PHO), King Fahad Medical City (KFMC), Riyadh, saudi Arabia. Method: A retrospective observational study of all patients, with diagnosis of Neuroblastoma, who attended PHO-KFMC from July 2006 to June 2014 was performed. The survival periods (overall survival and disease-free survival) and the final outcomes for patients treated and followed at KFMC were recorded. The survival data were statistically correlated with the clinical, pathological and biological features of patients and tumors and compared to national and international cohorts. Results: Eight-year data were available for the 42 patients of which 22 (52.4%) were male and 20 (47.6%) were females. Age at diagnosis ranged 0 - 91 months with a mean and median of 26.3 and 18.5 months respectively. 16 (38.1%) patients were under one year and 26 (61.9%) above 1 year of age. The event-free survival (EFs) and overall survival (Os) rates were 66.5% and 71.5% respectively. EFs and Os among those who were sentation was 75% and 82%, whereas ≥1 yr age group had 59% and 62% survival rates respectively. Patients with tumors in the adrenal had considerably lower EFs (59%) and Os (63%);in comparison to patients with tumors sites other than the adrenal who had EFs and Os of 85% and 89% respectively. Both EFs and Os survival rates at the end of follow-up interval were 100.0%, in the low and intermediate risk groups. In contrast, patients in the high risk group had EFs and Os rates of 44% and 48% respectively.
