Agriculture is being main stay of Pakistan economy and it’s very significant to monitor the existing agricultural areas and its changes, due to different aspects like salinity and waterlogging, which reduce the fertility of agricultural lands adversely. Managing salinity so as to minimize its environmental impact is a prerequisite for the long-term sustainability of irrigated agriculture. It is ironic that the irrigated areas are those that are afflicted most by the twin menaces of waterlogging and salinity. Geospatial technology was used to assess the waterlogging and salinity condition in nara canal command area, during the last two surveys conducted in years 1977-1981 and 2001- 2003 respectively. After analyzing the results in detail, we obtain a clear relationship among salt affected soils, and waterlogged areas reveal that 0.2% to 1.25% of salt affected areas fall under the shallow zone with high water table. The spatial distribution of water table shows various trends among the water tables, and the surface salinity of surface saline areas has been increased due to waterlogging caused by unmanaged spatial drainage system.

The north and northwest parts of India experience dust/sandstorms during the pre-monsoon season (April to May). We studied dust storms occurring over new Delhi, India (2001 to 2012) to develop a probabilistic forecast method. A probabilistic forecast method is discussed in this paper as a decision making tool that can be used to meet the needs of the users. The application of decision theory to forecast an event is that the end user of the forecast takes a decision for action on the basis of each forecast. This study stems from an elementary decision theory based on three interlocking procedures to follow viz. 1) identification of meteorological parameters responsible for dust storms, 2) determining the impact of each meteorological parameter in the initiation of a dust storm and 3) finally using the first two steps an action is recommended. Among the meteorological parameters, temperature, wind speed, pressure, number of sunny hours and evaporation had a positive impact on dust storm occurrence as compared to other variables selected. Using the concept of utility, which is an integral part of decision theory, a decision matrix is constructed. This decision matrix contains the threshold value above which a dust storm has occurred followed by each state of weather and the course of action. Thus, in this paper, a different concept of forecasting is discussed and optional rules for decision making based on the availability of a limited amount of meteorological data are presented. This forecast is of the very short range (0 - 3 hours) based on the meteorological conditions just prior to the occurrence of a dust event. We validated our findings with the OMI Aerosol index obtained from AEROnET.

BACKGROUnD The management of metastatic progressive radioiodine-resistant differentiated thyroid cancer remains challenging for *** availability of tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs),sorafenib and lenvatinib,within the last decade has expanded treatment options;however,these lead to significant adverse effects,which may curtail their *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 47-year-old female with Hurthle cell thyroid cancer who underwent total thyroidectomy followed by radioiodine *** followup,she developed noniodine-avid renal and pulmonary *** respect to her pre-existing diabetes,hypertension,and polycystic kidney disease,the tumor board decided against performing renal metastasectomy because of the risk of future renal decline requiring *** were treated using sorafenib,which provided stability followed by progression within a *** switched to lenvatinib,which led to disease ***,the patient experienced severe adverse effects,including cardiomyopathy,bicytopenia,renal impairment,and the rarely reported nephrotic *** metastasis is a rare manifestation of Hurthle cell thyroid cancer with only two reported cases in *** report the experience of our first case of renal metastasis and its treatment with *** case serves as a reminder of the adverse drug reactions associated with TKI *** We advocate close monitoring of patients’hematological and renal profiles as well as their cardiac status using an echocardiogram.

Yield Gap Analysis of Wheat in Rice-wheat Rotation Regions of Anhui Province,China

The present study was planned to analyze the yield gap of wheat and its production constraints in order to explore the approaches for narrowing the yield gap of wheat in different wheat-rice rotation regions of Anhui Province. The production status and limiting factors of wheat in three rice-wheat rotation regions which are named Region Ⅰ,Region Ⅱ and Region Ⅲ were surveyed by using participatory rural appraisal method. The personnel,who were engaged in wheat production in rice-wheat rotation regions of Anhui Province,mainly ageing from 41 to 60,accounted for 79% of the total personnel in the regions. There were significant differences in yield of wheat which was planted after rice in Anhui. The yield was ranging from 8 907. 00 to 2 700. 00 kg/ha from north to south with an average of 4 978. 5 kg/ha,and the rank of overall average yields at province level was Region Ⅰ( 5 685. 60 kg/ha) > Region Ⅱ( 5 600. 10 kg/ha) > Region Ⅲ( 3 048. 60 kg/ha). The average yield gap of wheat in wheat-rice rotation regions at province level was up to 2 637. 00 kg/ha,and the extreme yield gaps per hectare in the same region were 2 778. 00 kg( Region Ⅰ),2 502. 00 kg( Region Ⅱ) and 1 575. 00 kg( Region Ⅲ) respectively. The objective constraints were Fusarium head blight and pre-harvest sprouting;the subjective constraints were variety selection and layout,poor sowing quality and low seedling quality;social constraints were high cost,low market price and poor efficiency;and ecological constraints were poor soil texture,soil infertility and poor water-and-fertilizer retention. The yield gap of wheat in rice-wheat rotation regions can be effectively reduced by improving yield potential of low-and-medium-yielding fields. Feldspar mine may cause environmental ***-mining lake water pollute the environment because it has a low pH containing heavy metals such as aluminium(Al).The research objective was to analyze the effectiveness of water quality changes using Eichorniasp and Thypaangustifolia plants with organic substrates,and to analyze the results of water quality management based on wastewater quality *** results showed that the treatment using water from pit lake+material pit lake+clumps of Thypaangustifolia+organic substrate was declared effective in increasing pH and reducing TSS and dissolved metals at 15 days of treatment,indicated by a pH value of 6.7-7.04,a TSS value of 1,710 mg/l to 108 mg/l,and decreased grade Al from 233.0975 mg/l to 190.77 mg/*** quality standard for Al dissolved metal management has not reached the waste water quality standard,while the results of pH and TSS management are in accordance with the quality standards stipulated with the provisions concerning the wastewater quality standard.

Background: Overall survival (OS) and quality of life in patients with advanced non small cell lung cancer (nSCLC) remains to the day highly unsatisfactory. Better understanding of the mechanisms of oncogenesis resulted in the development of new drugs, which target a specific stage in tumor development. Additionally, optimal timing of chemotherapy administration has been readdressed with the introduction of maintenance treatment in clinical practice. The aim of this review is to briefly summarize the developments in first line treatment of nSCLC with small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors, the role of crizotinib and the current options in maintenance treatment. Methodology A search was performed in the PubMed database and in Clinical *** using the keywords erlotinib, gefitinib, crizotinib and maintenance treatment. Findings were reported in form of a narrative review. Conclusions: First line treatment with small molecule TKIs for nSCLC is both effective and feasible. EGFR mutation status remains the main prognostic factor of response. Pemetrexed and Erlotinib, currently approved for Maintenance Treatment in nSCLC, seem to benefit patients with advanced disease. Identification of suitable candidates for Maintenance Treatment, optimal timing and agent selection are issues that still remain largely unanswered. Early study results promise that addition of crizotinib to the treatment regimen of ALK positive nSLCL is likely to be beneficiary for a substantial number of patients.

In the present work on population status,threats and conservation of the spotted pond turtle;Geoclemys hamiltonii(Gray,1830)(Geoemydidae)was conducted in Thatta,Sujawal and Badin districts of Sindh province of Pakistan.A total number of 277 live specimens of *** from southeast province(Sindh)of Pakistan have been collected from different water bodies and sites in three consecutive year’s i.e *** population status of *** has recorded as decreasing in Sindh due to habitat destruction,eutrophication,agricultural farming and some other anthropogenic *** species is mostly used as pet and the poachers mostly carrying this species for trade in East Asian *** globally illegal trading hubs of this species are Bangkok,Taiwan and Hong *** and powerful actions and efforts are needed to raise awareness of smuggling of wildlife,with a specific need of formal memorandums of understanding(MOUs)are strongly encouraged south Asian and east Asian countries to control illegal trade between the countries and territories along the trade route of Bangladesh,India,Pakistan,Thailand,Hong Kong and Taiwan to improve cross border enforcement.

Measurement and Analysis of PDDs Profile and Output Factors for Small Field Sizes by cc13 and Micro-Chamber cc01

Small radiation fields are abundantly used in modern radiotherapy techniques like in IMRT and SRS. In order to commission these techniques, dosimetric data for small fields is required. The purpose of this study is to compare dosimetric measurements with two different ion chambers cc13, and cc01 for smaller fields. Dosimetric measurements are beam profile, output factor, pdds, and collimator factor. Dosimetric data is acquired in water phantom for two different photon beam energies 6 MV and 15 MV with zero gantry angle. In beam profiles cc13 chamber, measure wider penumbra as compare to cc01. And this wider measurement of penumbra occurs for smaller as well as for larger field sizes. Accumulated relative error in the measurement of penumbra for number of field sizes and 6 MV at dmax, and at 10 cm depth are 34.32% and 27.72% respectively. Accumulated relative error in the measurement of penumbra for number of field sizes and 15 MV at dmax, and at 10 cm depth are 28.49% and 23.92%. In case of output factor for smaller fields cc13 underestimates the output factor relative to cc01, with non-linear increase for smaller fields. But for larger fields, this increase in output factor is almost linear difference of two chambers is decreased. For very smaller fields × 2 cm, relative error in output factor of cc13 and cc01 is greater than 5% and rapidly increases with decreasing field size. But for lager fields, this relative error is negligible. In measurement of pdds after the buildup region difference occurs in the response of two chambers cc13 and cc01 for smaller fields. For field sizes ≤2 cm × 2 cm average cc13-cc01 at various depths 30 cm, 40 cm, 50 cm, 60 cm, 70 cm, and 80 cm is almost greater than 0.5 cm. And similarly as output factor, this difference (cc13-cc01) increases with field size decreasing.
