Vanillin cross-linked hydrogel membranes interfacial reinforced by carbon nitride nanosheets for enhanced antibacterial activity and mechanical properties

Biopolymer based hydrogels are highly adaptable, compatible and have shown great potential in biological tissues in biomedical applications. However, the development of bio-based hydrogels with high strength and effective antibacterial activity remains challenging. Herein, a series of vanillin-cross-linked chitosan nanocomposite hydrogel interfacially reinforced by g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheet carrying starch-caped Ag NPs were prepared for wound healing applications. The study aimed to enhance the strength, sustainability and control release ability of the fabricated membranes. Starch-caped silver nanoparticles were incorporated to enhance the anti-bacterial activities The fabricated membranes were assessed using various characterization techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, SEM, mechanical testing, Gel fraction and porosity alongside traditional biomedical tests i.e., swelling percentage, moisture retention ability, water vapor transmission rate, oxygen permeability, anti-bacterial activity and drug-release of the fabricated membranes. The mechanical strength reached as high as 25.9 ± 0.24 MPa for the best optimized sample. The moisture retention lied between 87%–89%, gel fraction 80%–85%, and water vapor transmission up to 104 ± 1.9g m^(-2)h^(-1)showing great properties of the fabricated membrane. Swelling percentage surged to 225% for blood while porosity fluctuated between 44% ± 2.1% and 52.5% ± 2.3%. Oxygen permeability reached up to 8.02 mg/L showing the breathable nature of fabricated membranes. The nanocomposite membrane shown excellent antibacterial activity for both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria with a maximum zone of inhibition 30 ± 0.25 mm and 36.23 ± 0.23 mm respectively. Infectious diseases caused by arboviruses are a public health concern in ***,studies on data prevalence and threats posed by arboviruses are *** study investigated the seroprevalence of arboviruses in a healthy population in Pakistan,including severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV),Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever virus(CCHFV),Tamdy virus(TAMV),and karshi virus(kSIV)based on a newly established luciferase immunoprecipitation system(LIPS)assays,and Zika virus(ZIkV)by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays(ELISA).Neutralizing activities against these arboviruses were further examined from the antibody positive *** results showed that the seroprevalence of SFTSV,CCHFV,TAMV,kSIV,and ZIkV was 17.37%,7.58%,4.41%,1.10%,and 6.48%,respectively,and neutralizing to SFTSV(1.79%),CCHFV(2.62%),and ZIkV(0.69%)were identified,as well as to the SFTSV-related Guertu virus(GTV,0.83%).Risk factors associated with the incidence of exposure and levels of antibody response were ***,co-exposure to different arboviruses was demonstrated,as thirty-seven individuals were having antibodies against multiple viruses and thirteen showed neutralizing ***,individuals aged40 years,and outdoor workers had a high risk of exposure to *** these results reveal the substantial risks of infection with arboviruses in Pakistan,and indicate the threat from co-exposure to multiple *** findings raise the need for further epidemiologic investigation in expanded regions and populations and the necessity to improve health surveillance in Pakistan.

A fossil-bearing locality near Padhri village,Dhok Pathan,55 km away from the tehsil Dina,Jhelum District,in the Potwar Plateau,Middle Siwaliks,Punjab,northern Pakistan,is significantly rich in mammalian *** site has provided an abundant mammalian fossil fauna of Late Miocene age from the Dhok Pathan Formation(Fm.).The recovered material belongs to four families:Equidae(horses),Rhinocerotidae(rhinos),Bovidae(cows),and Suidae(pigs).We discovered a new skull of hipparionine Hipparion theobaldi from this locality along with 22 specimens from the associated assemblage of fossil *** recovered material includes seven other species:the aceratheriine Chilotherium intermedium,boselaphines Tragoportax punjabicus,Selenoportax vexillarius,Pachyportax latidens,the antelope Gazella lydekkeri and suinine Propotamochoerus *** specimens are isolated teeth,fragments of maxilla,mandibles and horn *** Dhok Pathan *** generally composed of claystone,siltstone and sandstone beds and,based on the mammalian fauna,the Padhri fossil locality is dated as Late ***99 s formation was deposited in a subtropical paleoenvironment and the predominance of fossil bovids indicates extremely moist conditions with small but frequent standing water bodies.

We investigate high-modulus degradable materials intended to replace metals in biomedical *** are typically composites comprising a polylactide(PLA)matrix reinforced with phosphate glass fibres,which provide reinforcement similar to E-glass but are entirely degradable in water to produce,principally,calcium *** have made composites using a variety of fibre architectures,from non-woven random mats to unidirectional fibre *** properties in the region of 30 GPa modulus and 350 MPa strength have been achieved-directly comparable to quoted values for human cortical *** collaboration with other groups we have begun to consider the development of foamed systems with structures mimicking cancellous bone and this has shown significant *** fibres in these foamed structures provide improved creep resistance and reinforcement of the pore *** date the materials have exhibited excellent cellular responses in vitro and further studies are due to include consideration of the surface character of the materials and the influence of this on cell interaction, both with the composites and the glass fibres themselves,which show promise as a standalone porous scaffold.

Single fiber colorless symmetric WDM-PON architecture using time interleaved remodulation technique for mitigating Rayleigh backscattering resilience

A time interleaved differential phase shift keying (DPSk) remodulation technique is proposed to mitigate the effect of Rayleigh backscattering (RBS)-induced noise in a single fiber colorless wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical network (WDM-PON). In order to achieve a cost effective optical network unit (ONU) solution without dedicated laser sources for upstream signals to provide optimum symmetric capacity in a colorless WDM-PON, remodulation becomes the core attraction. Also as the performance of colorless WDM-PON systems suffers from the transmission impairments due to RBS, it is mitigated by using this remodulation scheme. Simulation results show that downstream and upstream signals achieve the error-free performance at 10 Gbit/s with negligible penalty, and enhance the tolerance to RBS-induced noise over a 25 km single-mode fiber.

Co-existence generation of XG-PON and single carrier XLG-PON for ultra-high definition TV transmission with entirely passive optical plant

International telecommunication union (ITU) recently has standardized ultra-high definition television (UHD-TV) with a resolution which is 16 times more than that of current high definition TV. Increasing the efficiency of video source coding or the capacity of transmission channels will be needed to deliver such programs by passive optical network (PON). In this paper, a complete passive co-existence of 10 Gbit-PON (XG-PON) and single carrier 40 Gbit-PON (XLG-PON) for overlay of UHD-TV distribution to 32 optical network units (ONUs) on broadcast basis is presented. The results show error free transmission performance with negligible power penalty over a 20 km bidirectional fiber.

Distribution system planners usually provide dedicated feeders to its different class of customers,each of whom has its own characteristic load pattern which varies hourly and seasonally.A more realistic modeling should be devised by considering the daily and seasonal variations in the aggregate load patterns of different class of *** paper addresses a new methodology to provide integrated solution for the optimal allocation of distributed generations and network reconfiguration considering load patterns of *** objectives considered are to maximize annual energy loss reduction and to maintain a better node voltage *** algorithm(BA)is a new bio-inspired search algorithm which has shown an advance capability to reach into the promising region,but its exploration is *** problem is solved by proposing the improved BA(IBA).The proposed method is investigated on the benchmark IEEE 33-bus test distribution system and the results are very promising.
