Partial characterization of superoxide dismutase activity in the Barber pole worm-Haemonchus contortus infecting Capra hircus and abomasal tissue extracts

Objective:To determine the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD) in the male and female haematophagous caprine worms,Haemonchus contortus infecting Capra hircus,and their E/S products and also to analyse the effect of Haemonchus infection on the level of host ***:The SOD activity was analysed by using the pyrogallol autoxidation assay and non-denaturing polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis followed by specific enzyme staining by riboflavin-nitroblue tetrazolium ***:The adult females were found to have higher enzyme activity than the male *** amount of SOD activity was also detected in the worm culture medium and female worms secreted more SOD in comparison to the male *** SOD activity was negatively correlated to the worm *** significant decrease in SOD activity(P<0.05) was observed in the heavily infected host tissue in comparison to the control non-infected host *** profile of the crude extracts of both the sexes revealed polymorphism and a fast migrating activity band being characteristic of E/S *** SOD activities were found highly sensitive to potassium cyanide indicating the Cu/Zn form of ***:Haemonchus contortus is a key model parasite for drug and vaccine *** presences of SOD activity in appreciable amount in the parasite as well as its E/S products indicate that it has a well-developed active antioxidant system to protect itself from the host immune *** could be the target for vaccine development which is the need of the hour as mass drug administration for parasite control has resulted in anthelmintic resistance across the globe and threatens the viability of sheep and goat industry in many regions of the *** infection with Haemonchus causes a drastic reduction in SOD activity of the host tissue thus effecting its protective *** characteristic SOD band was found in the females which was not present in any other preparations and thus could b

As is known,there exist numerous alternating direction implicit(ADI)schemes for the two-dimensional linear time fractional partial differential equations(PDEs).However,if the ADI schemes for linear problems combined with local linearization techniques are applied to solve nonlinear problems,the stability and convergence of the methods are often not *** this paper,two ADI schemes are developed for solving the two-dimensional time fractional nonlinear super-diffusion equations based on their equivalent partial integrodifferential *** these two schemes,the standard second-order central difference approximation is used for the spatial discretization,and the classical first-order approximation is applied to discretize the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral in *** solvability,unconditional stability and L2 norm convergence of the proposed ADI schemes are proved *** convergence order of the schemes is 0(τ+hx^2+hy^2),where τ is the temporal mesh size,hx and hy are spatial mesh sizes in the x and y directions,***,numerical experiments are carried out to support the theoretical results and demonstrate the performances of two ADI schemes.

Numerical analysis of fractional-order tumor model

In this paper, the tumor-immune dynamics are simulated by solving a nonlinear system of differential equations. The fractional-order mathematical model incorporated with three Michaelis–Menten terms to indicate the saturated effect of immune response, the limited immune response to the tumor and to account the self-limiting production of cytokine interleukin-2. Two types of treatments were considered in the mathematical model to demonstrate the importance of immunotherapy. The limiting values of these treatments were considered, satisfying the stability criteria for fractional differential system. A graphical analysis is made to highlight the effects of antigenicity of the tumor and the fractional-order derivative on the tumor mass.

CO_(2)hydrogenation is an attractive way to store and utilize carbon dioxide generated by industrial processes,as well as to produce valuable chemicals from renewable and abundant *** catalysts are commonly used for the hydrogenation of carbon oxides to ***-molybdenum catalysts have found numerous applications in catalysis,but have been never evaluated in the CO_(2)*** this work,the structural properties of iron-molybdenum catalysts without and with a promoting alkali metal(Li,Na,K,Rb,or Cs)were characterized using X-ray diffraction,hydrogen temperatureprogrammed reduction,CO_(2)temperature-programmed desorption,in-situ^(57)Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy and operando X-ray adsorption *** catalytic performance was evaluated in the CO_(2)*** the reaction conditions,the catalysts undergo the formation of an iron(Ⅱ)molybdate structure,accompanied by a partial reduction of molybdenum and carbidization of *** rate of CO_(2)conversion and product selectivity strongly depend on the promoting alkali metals,and electronegativity was identified as an important factor affecting the catalytic *** CO_(2)conversion rates were observed with the promoters having higher electronegativity,while low electronegativity of alkali metals favors higher light olefin selectivity.

Heat transfer analysis in the flow of Walters' B fluid with a convective boundary condition

Radiative heat transfer in the steady two-dimensional flow of Walters＇ B fluid with a non-uniform heat source/sink is investigated. An incompressible fluid is bounded by a stretching porous surface. The convective boundary condition is used for the thermal boundary layer problem. The relevant equations are first simplified under usual boundary layer assumptions and then transformed into a similar form by suitable transformations. Explicit series solutions of velocity and temperature are derived by the homotopy analysis method （HAM）. The dimensionless velocity and temperature gradients at the wall are calculated and discussed.

In this paper,we present a superlinear numerical method for multi-term fractional nonlinear ordinary differential equations(MTFNODEs).First,the presented problem is equivalently transformed into its integral form with multi-term Riemann-Liouville ***,the compound product trapezoidal rule is used to approximate the fractional ***,the unconditional stability and convergence with the order 1+αN−1−αN−2 of the proposed scheme are strictly established,whereαN−1 andαN−2 are the maximum and the second maximum fractional indexes in the considered MTFNODEs,***,two numerical examples are provided to support the theoretical results.

Hepatitis B and C are big health issues worldwide as more than 400 million people arc suffering from chronic hepatitis B and C which result in more than 1.4 million deaths each *** to a study done by Pakistan Medical Research Council in 2007-08,7.6%Pakistani population suffered with hepatitis B and *** around 4.8%with hepatitis C *** of Pakistan has taken different initiatives like vaccination,patient safety,blood screening,education and awareness about disease but still there is high prevalence of hepatitis in *** to some studies injecting drug users have the highest prevalence of hepatilis B and C in the *** follow-up studies and documentation of hepatitis patients was not very good which need to be *** is no recent large scale study on risk factors and prevalence of hepatitis B and C in Pakistan so it should be done on an urgent *** government set up regional laboratories for prevalence study and also a central institute for hepatitis research and treatment,the disease could be prevented in better and proper *** treatment of hepatitis is very costly and a developing country like Pakistan cannot afford such high *** more focus should be on preventive measures.

Role of Fuzzy Approach towards Fault Detection for Distributed Components

Component-based software development is rapidly introducing numerous new paradigms and possibilities to deliver highly customized software in a distributed *** other communication,teamwork,and coordination problems in global software development,the detection of faults is seen as the key ***,there is a need to ensure the reliability of component-based applications *** device detection faults applied to tracked components from various sources and failed to keep track of all the large number of components from different *** this study,we propose an approach for fault detection from componentbased systems requirements using the fuzzy logic approach and historical information during acceptance *** approach identified error-prone components selection for test case extraction and for prioritization of test cases to validate components in acceptance *** the evaluation,we used empirical study,and results depicted that the proposed approach significantly outperforms in component selection and acceptance *** comparison to the conventional procedures,i.e.,requirement criteria,and communication coverage criteria without irrelevancy and redundancy successfully outperform other ***,the F-measures of the proposed approach define the accurate selection of components,and faults identification increases in components using the proposed approach were higher(i.e.,more than 80 percent)than requirement criteria,and code coverage criteria procedures(i.e.,less than 80 percent),***,the rate of fault detection in the proposed approach increases,i.e.,92.80 compared to existing methods i.e.,less than 80 *** proposed approach will provide a comprehensive guideline and roadmap for practitioners and researchers.

Diagnostically untypable hepatitis C virus variants:It is time to resolve the problem

Pakistan is a low income country with more than 10million hepatitis C virus(HCV)infections and the burden is on continuous *** viral genotyping is very critical for proper treatment of the infected individuals as the sustained virological response of the standard antiviral interferon therapy is genotype *** observed at our diagnostic center that15.6%of HCV patient’s samples were not genotypeable by using Ohno et al *** genotyped samples showed that 3a(68.3%)is the major prevalent genotype in Pakistan followed by 2a(10.3%),3b(2.6%),1b(1.5%),2b(1.2%)and 1a(0.5%).Presence of large number of untypable HCV variants in the current study highlights an important issue of health care setup in *** HCV cases create difficulties in treatment of these *** problem of routine diagnostics setup of Pakistan should be addressed on priority basis to facilitate the medical professionals in patient’s treatment and to help in achieving the maximum sustained virological response.
