Physiological and biochemical appraisal for mulching and partial rhizosphere drying of cotton

Water is the main factor for the healthy life of *** of the main negative effects of climate change is the increasing scarcity of water that is lethal for ***,for water deficit regions(arid and semi-arid),drought is the main factor responsible for low production of agriculture,especially for *** efforts have been and are being made to find alternatives to water saving *** study aimed to examine the effects of partial rhizosphere drying(PRD,half of the root system irrigated at one event,and the other half irrigated in the next event,and so on)with and/or without various mulching treatments on physiological and biochemical traits of *** explore this objective,we laid out experiments in completely randomized design with factorial arrangement in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur,Pakistan in *** factors included were four mulching treatments(M0,no mulching;M1,black plastic mulching;M2,wheat straw mulching;and M3,cotton sticks mulching)and two irrigation levels(I0,control(full irrigation);and I1,PRD).Fisher's analysis of variance among means of treatments was compared using least significant difference test at 5% probability *** revealed that the maximum plant height,leaf area,leaf gas exchange(photosynthetic rate and stomata conductance),chlorophyll,proline and total sugar contents,and enzyme activities were higher under M2 than under other three mulching *** for irrigation levels,higher values of plant height,photosynthesis and water related parameters(leaf water potential,leaf osmotic potential,leaf turgor potential,etc.)were *** of total sugar and proline and activities of antioxidant enzymes were significantly higher in PRD-treated plants than in control *** was concluded that combined application of PRD and mulching was more effective than the rest of the treatments used in the *** study can be conducted in the field by applying irrigation water in alternate row

Hydrological Response to Environment Change in Himalayan Watersheds: Assessment from Integrated Modeling Approach

Land use changes such as deforestation,increase in cropping or grazing areas and built-up land, likely modify the water balance and land surface behavior in the Himalayan *** integrated approach of hydrological and hydraulic modeling was adopted for comparative analysis of hydrological pattern in three Himalayan watersheds ***,Rawal and simly situated in the Northern territory of *** rainfall-runoff model sWAT- soil and water assessment tool and Hydro CAD were calibrated for the selected *** correlation analysis of the precipitation data of two climate stations *** and Islamabad, with the discharge data of three rivers was utilized to select best suitable input precipitation data for Hydro CAD rainfall-runoff *** peak flood hydrograph were generated using Hydro CAD runoff to optimize the basin parameters like CN, runoff volume, peak flows of the three *** hydrological response of the Rawal watershed was studied as a case study to different scenarios of land use change using sWAT *** scenario of high deforestation indicated a decline of about 6.3% in the groundwater recharge tostream while increase of 7.1% in the surface runoff has been observed under the scenario of growth in urbanization in the recent *** integrated modeling approach proved helpful in investigating the hydrological behavior under changing environment at watershed level in the Himalayan region.

A Progressive Approach to Generic Object Detection: A Two-stage Framework for Image Recognition

Object detection in images has been identified as a critical area of research in computer vision image *** has developed several novel methods for determining an object’s location and category from an ***,there is still room for improvement in terms of detection *** study aims to develop a technique for detecting objects in *** enhance overall detection performance,we considered object detection a two-fold problem,including localization and *** proposed method generates class-independent,high-quality,and precise proposals using an agglomerative clustering *** then combine these proposals with the relevant input image to train our network on convolutional ***,a network refinement module decreases the quantity of generated proposals to produce fewer high-quality candidate ***,revised candidate proposals are sent into the network’s detection process to determine the object *** algorithm’s performance is evaluated using publicly available the PAsCAL Visual Object Classes Challenge 2007(VOC2007),VOC2012,and Microsoft Common Objects in Context(Ms-COCO)*** only 100 proposals per image at intersection over union((IoU)=0.5 and 0.7),the proposed method attains Detection Recall(DR)rates of(93.17%and 79.35%)and(69.4%and 58.35%),and Mean Average Best Overlap(MABO)values of(79.25%and 62.65%),for the VOC2007 and Ms-COCO datasets,***,it achieves a Mean Average Precision(mAP)of(84.7%and 81.5%)on both VOC *** experiment findings reveal that our method exceeds previous approaches in terms of overall detection performance,proving its effectiveness.

Undeniably water is of utmost importance while considering basic *** investigation emphasized on the hydrochemical evaluation and drinking water quality assessment in District Jacobabad located in lower Indus plain,*** world's largest irrigation system emerged from Indus Basin,which is underlain by well transmissive aquifer resulting in higher water *** supply schemes with their water sources from ground water and surface water provide piped water for drinking purpose to the *** samples were collected from all the forty eight supply schemes of which thirty two were found *** parameters were compared with World Health Organization(WHO)and Pakistan Water Quality standards but adversely substantial samples were found ***,bicarbonate and nitrate met the standard safe limits while values for EC,TDs,hardness,cations and anions exceeded the limits in numerous *** and ArcGIs softwares were used for statistical analysis and spatial distribution of *** facies were developed and suitability assessment of water resources was examined for agricultural *** ground water type was classified as Na-HCO3 type with high salinity and it required treatment prior to *** proposed research exhibited the probable drinking water contamination sources and it demanded instant actions to further protect the valuable drinking water resources in District Jacobabad.

sedimentation retention basin utilization for best management practice

Approaches to the artificial impoundment and theoretical design of sedimentation retention basin are reviewed with particular attention to best management practice(BMP) to control agriculture and surface runoff. sediments retention basins are the small version of farm pond used where a criteria of farm pond is not met. such basin traps the pollutants and suspended solids prior to entry into streams and lakes. The study is focused with special reference to the assessment and control of non point source pollution(NPsP) from the sub basin area of Tai Lake in the Xishan County of Wuxi City of China. The author suggested two different approaches to conduct this study including theoretical design for sedimentation retention basin and computation of flow, sediment transport and deposition during the artificial impoundment of retention basin for BMP's utilization. Theoretical design will provide a useful function as a first line defense against the movement of sediments and transport of pollutants into the Tai Lake while the assessment of sediments deposition will help to make its proper use and periodic cleanup.

Image enhancement is a monumental task in the field of computer vision and image *** methods are insufficient for preserving naturalness and minimizing noise in *** article discusses a technique that is based on wavelets for optimizing images taken in ***,the V channel is created by mapping an image’s RGB channel to the HsV color ***,the acquired V channel is decomposed using the dual-tree complex wavelet transform(DT-CWT)in order to recover the concentrated information within its high and low-frequency ***,an adaptive illumination boost technique is used to enhance the visibility of a low-frequency ***,anisotropic diffusion is used to mitigate the high-frequency component’s noise *** improve the results,the image is reconstructed using an inverse DT-CWT and then converted to RGB space using the newly calculated ***,images are white-balanced to remove color *** demonstrate that the proposed approach significantly improves outcomes and outperforms previously reported methods in general.

Theoretical study of reactive melt infiltration to fabricate Co-si/C composites

Cobalt-silicon based carbon composites(Co–si/C)have established a noteworthy consideration in recent years as a replacement for conventional materials in the automotive and aerospace *** achieve the composite,a reactive melt infiltration process(RMI)is used,in which a melt impregnates a porous preform by capillary *** method promises a high-volume fraction of reinforcement and can be steered in such a way to get the good“near-net”shaped components.A mathematical model is developed using reaction-formed Co–si alloy/C composite as a prototype system for this *** wetting behavior and contact angle are discussed;surface tension and viscosity are calculated by Wang’s and Egry’s equations,*** radii of 5μm and 10μm are set as a reference on highly oriented pyrolytic *** graphs are plotted using the model,to study some aspects of the infiltration *** highlights the possible connections among the various *** this attempt,the Co–si(62.5 at.%silicon)alloy’s maximum infiltration at 5μm and 10μm radii are found as 0.05668 m at 125 s and 0.22674 m at 250 s,respectively.

Background:sucking insect pests cause severe damage to cotton crop *** development of insect resistant cotton cultivars is one of the most effective measures in curtailing the yield *** the role of morphological and biochemical host plant resista nee(HPR)traits in plant defense,12 cotton genotypes/varieties were evaluated for leaf area,leaf glanding,total soluble sugars,total soluble proteins,total phenolics,tannin and total flavonoids against fluctuating populations of whitefly,thrips and jassid under field ***:The population of these insects fluctuated during the growing seas on and remained above threshold level(whitefly>5,thrips>(8-10)f or jassid>1 per leaf)during late June and early *** and negative association of whitefly(r=-0.825)and jassid(r=-0.929)with seed cotton yield was *** population of insects were the highest in Glandless-1 followed by NIA-82 and ***-Kiran followed by NI AB-878 and sadori were the most resistant,with the mean population of 1.41,1.60,1.66(whitefly);2.24,232,2.53(thrips)and 037,0.31,036(jassid),*** resistant variety NIAB-Kiran showed less soluble sugars(8.54 mg.g^(-1)),soluble proteins(27.11 mg.g^(-1))and more phenolic(36.56 mg.g^(-1))and flavonoids(13.10mg.g^(-1))as compared with the susceptible check ***,all insect populations were positively correlated with total soluble sugars and *** populations exhibited negative response to leaf gossypol glands,total phenolics,tannins and *** thrips and jassid populations had a significant and negative correlation with these four biochemical HPR ***:The ide ntified resistant resources and HPR traits can be deployed against sucking in sect pests'complex in future breeding programs of developing insect resistant cotton varieties.

Dual solutions of MHD stagnation point flow and heat transfer over a stretching/shrinking sheet with generalized slip condition

An analysis was made to study the steady momentum and heat transfer characteristics of a viscous electrically conducting fluid near a stagnation point due to a stretching/shrinking sheet in the presence of a transverse magnetic field and generalized slip condition. Two flow problems corresponding to the planar and axisymmetric stretching/shrinking sheet were considered. By means of similarity transformations, the obtained resultant nonlinear ordinary differential equations were solved numerically using a shooting method for dual solutions of velocity and temperature profiles. some important physical features of the flow and heat transfer in terms of the fluid velocity, the temperature distribution, the skin friction coefficient and the local Nusselt number for various values of the controlling governing parameters like velocity slip parameter, critical shear rate, magnetic field, ratio of stretching/shrinking rate to external flow rate and Prandtl number were analyzed and discussed. An increase of the critical shear rate decreases the fluid velocity whereas the local Nusselt number increases. The comparison of the present numerical results with the existing literature in a limiting case is given and found to be in an excellent agreement.

This study's primary purpose was to explore the role of tourism development in enhancing well-being in a highly populated developing economy by focusing on the case study of Pakistan several econometric techniques and approaches were used on annual time series data covering the 1990-2016 period to investigate the causal relationship of well-being with tourism development,political stability,economics,and population *** findings suggested that tourism development enhances economic growth and well-being,hence providing support for the tourism-led growth hypothesis However,population growth and political instability exhibited a negative relationship with well-being;in addition,the level of political stability determined tourism ***,this study is unique due to its specific focus on the role of political stability and tourism development in the enhancement of wellbeing in a highly populated developing economy Moreover,the practical implications of the study have been provided in light of the main findings.
