Flower Pollination Heuristics for Parameter Estimation of Electromagnetic Plane Waves

For the last few decades,the parameter estimation of electromagnetic plane waves i.e.,far field sources,impinging on antenna array geometries has attracted a lot of researchers due to their use in radar,sonar and under water acoustic *** this work,nature inspired heuristics based on the flower pollination algorithm(FPA)is designed for the estimation problem of amplitude and direction of arrival of far field sources impinging on uniform linear array(ULA).Using the approximation in mean squared error sense,a fitness function of the problem is developed and the strength of the FPA is utilized for optimization of the cost function representing scenarios for various number of sources non-coherent located in the far *** worth of the proposed FPA based nature inspired computing heuristic is established through assessment studies on fitness,histograms,cumulative distribution function and box plots *** other worthy perks of the proposed scheme include simplicity of concept,ease in the implementation,extendibility and wide range of applicability to solve complex optimization *** salient features make the proposed approach as an attractive alternative to be exploited for solving different parameter estimation problems arising in nonlinear systems,power signal modelling,image processing and fault diagnosis.

Effect of seedling age and water depth on morphological and physiological aspects of transplanted rice under high temperature

To study the effect of high temperature, rice seedlings 20, 30, 40 and 50 d were kept at 5, 10, 15 and 20 cm water depth in a water pool. Meteorological findings indicated that water temperature varied up to 10 cm but became stable below this depth. Deep water inflicted higher tiller mortality, minimal increase in dry weight of aerial parts and leaf area, decrease in root length, and decrease in root dry weight especially at 20 cm water depth and produced an unbalanced T/R ratio (top versus root dry weight). However, deep water tended to increase plant length. These parameters, however, excel in shallow water. Older seedlings, with the exception of root dry weight, could not perform well compared to young seedlings in all physiological and morphological aspects. The study revealed that seedlings, particularly young ones, stand well in shallow water and can cope with high temperature.

The Shahejie Formation is a fundamental rock unit for hydrocarbon exploration and production in the Nanpu Sag,Bohai Bay *** including thin sectioning,core observations,fluorescence,scanning electron microscopy,cathodoluminescence,fluid inclusion,laser scanning confocal microscopy and geochemical analysis(C,O isotopes)were all utilized to investigate the reservoir characteristics and origin of the Es_(1)*** section study showed that the reservoir rock consisted of feldspathic litharenite and lithic *** reservoir pores are categorized as intergranular pores,fracture pores,dissolution pores and intergranular cement dissolution *** studied sandstone had good porosity(0.05%–35%)and permeability(0.006–7000 mD).The Es_(1) reservoir is classified as a fractured reservoir,a primary intergranular pore-associated reservoir and a dissolution ***,diagenesis and tectogenesis are the main factors that played important roles in the development of the *** is the foundation and assumption for reservoir development,but the effective reservoir is primarily controlled by primary pores,fractures,lithofacies,tectonic elements and dissolution ***,compaction,fracture filling and cementation were the primary sources of reservoir *** reservoir was progressively formed through the influence of different geological and diagenetic *** present study provides significant information and references for hydrocarbon exploration and development in the Nanpu Sag.

Objective:To explore the medicinal importance of the stem of Desmodium elegans,methanolic extract,and its different solvent fractions were evaluated for brine shrimp lethality,insecticidal and phytotoxicity,antifungal,and antibacterial ***:The methanolic extract and its solvent fractions were tested for cytotoxic,phytotoxic,insecticidal,antifungal,and antibacterial effects using our previous published ***:The methanolic,DCM,ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions exhibited insecticidal effect against Callosobruchus analis and Rhyzopertha *** methanolic extract,n-hexane,DCM ethyl acetate and n-butanol showed 75,85,85,65 and 5%phytotoxicity at the tested concentration of 500μg/*** solvent fractions(DCM and ethyl acetate)were effective against ***(10%and 20%,inhibition respectively).All the tested samples were devoid of cytotoxic and antibacterial ***:It was concluded diat diis plant can be practiced for control of weeds and insects.

Observations of nodal lines in the topological semimetal ZrSnTe

Performing angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES) and theoretical calculations for ZrSnTe, we find a nodal line in the kx-ky plane with a tiny gap and two nodal lines without gaps along the kzdirection. The constant energy contours are plotted in the kx-ky plane at a photon energy of 30 e V to examine the gapping feature of the nodal line. In addition, we depict the band dispersions along the Γ-M and Γ-X directions from the ARPES images at photon energies ranging from 24 to 40 e V. The kz mapping confirms the presence of stable Dirac points with obvious kzdependences along the M-A and X-R directions. In this paper, we report the two types of nodal lines associated with the theoretical local-density approximation calculations, broadening the horizons of nodal-line semimetal research.

BACKGROUND Subclavian steal syndrome(SSS)caused by Sjogren's syndrome is rare,especially for elderly patients with risk factors for *** current report presents the uncommon etiology and treatment of SSS,aiming to improve doctor’s clinical *** SUMMARY A 69-year-old man was diagnosed with hypertension and acute cerebral infarction presenting with left upper limb weakness and pain even gradually aggravating to left limb hemiplegia 30 years *** was managed with antihypertensive and antithrombotic therapy;however,his condition was recurrent,and he never had any further *** was found that the difference of the bilateral upper arm systolic pressure was over 20 mmHg,and Doppler examination showed that the blood flow of the left vertebral artery was reversed,suggesting *** tests revealed a benign lymphoepithelial lesion in salivary gland tissue,confirming the Sjogren's *** The patient was found to have hypertension when he was 33 years old,and the blood pressure of both sides was asymmetric,which was *** patient's symptoms of dizziness and upper limb weakness were misdiagnosed as general cerebral *** is necessary to test the aorta computed tomography angiography to prove secondary hypertension factors such as Sjogren's syndrome.

Open reduction and internal fixation for radial head fractures: A prospective observational study

Objective: To evaluate the effect of open reduction and internal fixation on radial head fracture and assess the post-operative function. Methods: This prospective observational study was conducted from June 2016 to July 2017 at Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College, Karachi. Altogether, 28 patients with radial head and neck fractures were enrolled in our study. These patients were admitted to the hospital and their fractures were fixed with open reduction and internal fixation. Baseline information of the patients was collected, and patient-rated elbow evaluation scores were calculated. Results: Out of the 28 patients, 21 were male and 7 were female. Besides, 16 fractures were on the right side and 12 were on the left side and 17 involving the dominant hands. In addition, 8 patients had Mason type Ⅱ fracture and 20 had Mason type Ⅲ fracture. The mean age of patients was (31.0 ± 8.0) years, and the mean follow-up is (1.2 ± 0.5) years. The mean average patient-rated elbow evaluation scores were (27.64 ± 1.60) at 1-year follow-up. Conclusions:The majority of the patients who had radial head fractures and treated by open reduction and internal fixation have attained an excellent range of motion postoperatively.

Temperature trends and elevation dependent warming during 1965-2014 in headwaters of Yangtze River, Qinghai Tibetan Plateau

The understanding of temperature trends in high elevation mountain areas is an integral part of climate change research and it is critical for assessing the impacts of climate change on water resources including glacier melt, degradation of soils, and active layer thickness. In this study, climate changes were analyzed based on trends in air temperature variables(Tmax, Tmin, Tmean), and Diurnal Temperature Range(DTR) as well as elevation-dependent warming at annual and seasonal scales in the Headwaters of Yangtze River(HWYZ), Qinghai Tibetan Plateau. The Base Period(1965-2014) was split into two subperiods;Period-Ⅰ(1965-1989) and Period-Ⅱ(1990-2014) and the analysis was constrained over two subbasins;Zhimenda and Tuotuohe. Increasing trends were found in absolute changes in temperature variables during Period-Ⅱ as compared to Period-Ⅰ.Tmax, Tmin, and Tmean had significant increasing trends for both sub-basins. The highest significant trends in annual time scale were observed in Tmin(1.15℃ decade-1) in Tuotuohe and 0.98℃ decade-1 in Zhimenda sub-basins. In Period-Ⅱ, only the winter season had the highest magnitudes of Tmax and Tmin0.58℃ decade-1 and 1.26℃ decade-1 in Tuotuohe subbasin, respectively. Elevation dependent warming analysis revealed that Tmax, Tmin and Tmean trend magnitudes increase with the increase of elevations in the middle reaches(4000 m to 4400 m) of the HWYZ during Period-Ⅱ annually. The increasing trend magnitude during Period-Ⅱ, for Tmax, is 1.77, 0.92, and 1.31℃ decade-1, for Tmin 1.20, 1.32 and 1.59℃ decade-1,for Tmean 1.51, 1.10 and 1.51℃ decade-1 at elevations of4066 m, 4175 m and 4415 m respectively in the winter season. Tmean increases during the spring season for> 3681 m elevations during Period-Ⅱ, with no particular relation with elevation dependency for other variables. Spatiotemporal Changes in NDVI and Its Driving Factors in the Kherlen River Basin

Vegetation is an important factor linking the atmosphere,water,soil,and biological functions,and it plays a specific role in the climate change response and sustainable development of regional ***,little information is available on vegetation vulnerability and its driving ***,studying temporal and spatial change characteristics of vegetation and their corresponding mechanisms is important for assessing ecosystem stability and formulating ecological policies in the Kherlen River *** used Moderate-resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS)normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI)remote sensing images from 2000 to 2020 to analyse temporal changes in NDVI with the autoregressive moving average model(ARMA)and the breaks for additive season trend(BFAST)in the basin and to assess natural,anthropogenic and topographic factors with the Geodetector *** results show that:1)the long NDVI time series remained stable in the Kherlen River Basin from 2000 to 2020,with a certain significant mutation period from 2013 to 2017;2)the coefficient of variation(CV)in the analysis of the spatial NDVI was generally constant,mainly at the level of 0.01–0.07,and the spatial NDVI change was minimally impacted by external interference;and 3)temperature and precipitation are the key factors affecting the NDVI in the basin,and changes in local hydrothermal conditions directly affect the local *** results of this study could provide a scientific basis for the effective protection of the ecological environment and will aid in understanding the influence of vegetation change mechanisms and the corresponding factors.

Study of the segmental mobility of polymer chains is important when the polymer is used as drag reduction agents of crude *** spin resonance(ESR)spectroscopy can provide important information about segmental dynamics of polymer chains,which is related to their *** this article,we employed an amphiphilic polymer to study the effect of hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance of the polymers on the segmental motion of polymer ***(styrene-co-maleic acid)(PSMA)was spin labeled with 4-amino TEMPO radicals by increasing the concentration of radical moiety on the polymer *** PSMA and spin labeled-PSMAs(SL-PSMAs)were characterized by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR)spectroscopy,Cyclic voltammetry(CV)and ESR ***-polymer complexes(IPCs)of SL-PSMA-2 were prepared by employing polyethylene glycols(PEGs)of varying molecular *** results showed that the increased hydrophobic interactions of nitroxide radicals on the SLPSMAs’chains reduced the rotational mobility of spin labels and the random coil-toglobular transition of polymer chains occurred at higher pH value for SL-PSMAs,which showed a slow motion component in the ESR spectra of ***,by increasing the molecular weight of PEGs in IPCs the complexation was increased,which also reduced the rotational motion of spin labels due to interpolymer hydrogen bonding causing a slow motion component in the ESR spectra.©2021 The Authors.
