The validity of the compensation between the enthalpies and entropies obtained from the calorimetric methods was statistically examined for the first time based on computer simulations. It turned out that several claimed enthalpy-entropy compensations in literature based upon the calorimetric measurements were statistically correct. Interestingly, a linear relationship between the slopes and correlation coefficients of the T DeltaS-DeltaH plots of different physical origin of the compensation behavior.

In this work,the effects of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)on the microstructure evolution,thermal conductivity,and mechanical properties of C_(f)/SiC composites during chemical vapor infiltration(CVI)densification were investigated in *** with composites without CNTs,the thermal conductivity,flexural strength,flexural modulus,fracture toughness,interfacial shear strength,and proportional limit stress of specimens with CNTs of 4.94 wt%were improved by 117%,21.8%,67.4%,10.3%,36.4%,and 71.1%,*** improvement was attributed to the role of CNTs in the division of inter-layer pores,which provided abundant vapor growth sites for the ceramic matrix and promoted densification of the whole *** addition,the high thermal conductivity network formed by the overlap of CNTs and the rivet strengthening effect of CNTs were beneficial for synergistic improvement of thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of the ***,this study has practical significance for the development of thermal protection composite components with enhanced thermal conductivity and mechanical characteristics.

Crop uniformity is a comprehensive indicator used to describe crop growth and is important for assessing crop yield and biomass ***,there is still a lack of continuous monitoring of uniformity throughout the growing season to explain their effects on yield and ***,this paper proposed a wheat uniformity quantification method based on unmanned aerial vehicle imaging technology to monitor and analyze the dynamic changes in wheat *** leaf area index(LAI),soil plant analysis development(SPAD),and fractional vegetation cover were estimated from hyperspectral images,while plant height was estimated by a point cloud model from RGB *** on these 4 agronomic parameters,a total of 20 uniformity indices covering multiple growing stages were *** changing trends in the uniformity indices were consistent with the results of visual *** uniformity indices strongly correlated with yield and biomass were selected to construct multiple linear regression models for estimating yield and *** results showed that Pielou's index of LAI had the strongest correlation with yield and biomass,with correlation coefficients of-0.760 and-0.801,*** accuracies of the yield(coefficient of determination[R^(2)]=0.616,root mean square error[RMSE]=1.189 Mg/ha)and biomass estimation model(R^(2)=0.798,RMSE=1.952 Mg/ha)using uniformity indices were better than those of the models using the mean values of the 4 agronomic ***,the proposed uniformity monitoring method can be used to effectively evaluate the temporal and spatial variations in wheat uniformity and can provide new insights into the prediction of yield and biomass.

Perioperative rh-endostatin with chemotherapy improves the survival of conventional osteosarcoma patients: a prospective non-randomized controlled study

Objective: Anti-angiogenic drugs are an emerging treatment option against malignant tumors. The aim of this study was to determine whether the addition of perioperative rh-endostatin to chemotherapy could improve the probability of distant metastasis-free survival(DMFS) and overall survival(OS) in patients newly diagnosed with non-metastatic conventional ***: This was a controlled non-randomized clinical study that included 388 patients without clinically detectable metastatic disease enrolled from January 2008 to April 2012. The control treatment group had 272 patients; 180 were male and 92, female,with a median age of 17 years. The treatment group had 58 patients; 36 were male and 22, female, with a median age of 16 *** control group received preoperative chemotherapy followed by surgery and postoperative chemotherapy. The treatment group received 4 cycles of rh-endostatin perioperatively in addition to chemotherapy as per the control group. Patients were followed up from 6-101 months with a median follow-up period of 50.2 ***: The 5-year DMFS of the control group(61%) was significantly lower than that of the rh-endostatin group(79%)(P = 0.013). The 5-year OS of the control group(74%) was significantly lower than that of the rh-endostatin treatment group(87%)(P = 0.029). No difference in adverse drug reactions was found between these 2 ***: The addition of perioperative rh-endostatin to chemotherapy could significantly improve the DMFS and OS of patients with non-metastatic osteosarcoma.

Late Pleistocene glaciation of the Changbai Mountains in northeastern China

The Changbai Mountains (2749 m a.s.l.) in northeastern China are one of the typical mountain regions with glaciation since late Pleistocene as evidenced by well-preserved erosive and accumulative landforms at elevations above 2000 m a.s.l. formed by glaciers around the crater lake, Tianchi Lake. Cirque glaciers developed on both the inner and outer sides of the volcanic cone. Well-preserved cirques, glacial trough valleys, glacial threholds, polished surfaces of the glacial erratics and the moraine ridges indicate that several glaciation processes took place during the last glacial period in this region. Results of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dating on the moraine sediments, and the K/Ar, ther- mal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS), electronic spinning resonance (ESR) dating on the volcanic rocks suggest two periods of glacier advances. One is named the Black Wind Mouth glacier advance taking place on the west and north slopes of the volcanic cone at an elevation of 2000―2100 m a.s.l., which is dated to about 20 ka, being the result of the Last Glacial Maximum (LGM). The other is named the Meteorological Station glacier advance at the elevation of 2400―2600 m a.s.l., dated to 11 ka during the late glacial period, and is tentatively correlated to the Younger Dryas stage. The scope of the former glacier advance is larger than that of the latter. Regional comparisons showed that the glacial sequences in the Changbai Mountains are similar to other glaciated areas in eastern Asia during the later part of the last glacial cycle.

The self-driven behavior of droplets on a functionalized surface,coupled with wetting gradient and wedge patterns,is systematically investigated using molecular dynamics(MD)*** effects of key factors,including wedge angle,wettability,and wetting gradient,on the droplet self-driving effect is revealed from the *** indicate that the maximum velocity of droplets on hydrophobic wedge-shaped surfaces increases with the wedge angle,accompanied by a rapid attenuation of driving force;however,the average velocity decreases with the increased wedge ***,droplet movement on hydrophilic wedge-shaped surfaces follows the opposite trend,particularly in terms of average velocity compared to the hydrophobic *** wedge-shaped and composite gradient wedge-shaped surfaces are found to induce droplet motion,with droplets exhibiting higher speeds and distances on hydrophobic surfaces compared to hydrophilic surfaces,regardless of surface ***,the inclusion of wettability gradients significantly influences droplet motion,with hydrophobic composite gradient wedge-shaped surfaces showing considerable improvements in droplet speed and distance compared to their hydrophilic *** combining suitable wettability gradients with wedge-shaped surfaces,the limitations inherent in the wettability gradient range and wedge-shaped configuration can be mitigated,thereby enhancing droplet speed and *** findings presented in this paper offer valuable insights for the design of advanced functional surfaces tailored for manipulating droplets in real-world applications.

Red plus blue light-emitting diodes(LEDs)are commonly applied in plant factories with artificial lighting due to photosynthetic pigments,which absorb strongly in red and blue light regions of the ***,plants grown under natural environment are used to utilizing broad-wide spectrum by long-term *** order to examine the effects of addition light added in red plus blue LEDs or white LEDs,green and purple leaf lettuces(Lactuca sativa *** and Ziya)were hydroponically cultivated for 20 days under white LEDs,white plus red LEDs,red plus blue LEDs,and red plus blue LEDs supplemented with ultraviolet,green or far-red light,*** results indicated that the addition of far-red light in red plus blue LEDs increased leaf fresh and dry weights of green leaf lettuce by 28%and 34%,*** of ultraviolet light did not induce any differences in growth and energy use efficiency in both lettuce cultivars,while supplementing green light with red plus blue LEDs reduced the vitamin C content of green leaf lettuce by 44%and anthocyanin content of purple leaf lettuce by 30%compared with red plus blue LEDs,*** absorbencies of purple leaf lettuce grown under red plus blue LEDs supplemented with green light were lower in green light region compared with those grown under red plus blue LEDs,which was associated with anthocyanin *** plus red LEDs significantly increased leaf fresh and dry weights of purple leaf lettuce by 25%,and no significant differences were observed in vitamin C and nitrate contents compared with white *** weight,light and electrical energy use efficiencies of hydroponic green and purple leaf lettuces grown under white plus red LEDs were higher or no significant differences compared with those grown under red plus blue *** conclusion,white plus red LEDs were suggested to substitute for red plus blue LEDs in hydroponic lettuce(*** and Ziya)production in plant factories with artif

Networked-guarantee loans may cause systemic risk related concern for the government and banks in *** prediction of the default of enterprise loans is a typical machine learning based classification problem, and the networked guarantee makes this problem very difficult to solve. As we know, a complex network is usually stored and represented by an adjacency matrix. It is a high-dimensional and sparse matrix, whereas machine-learning methods usually need lowdimensional dense feature representations. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a binary higher-order network embedding method to learn the low-dimensional representations of a guarantee network. We first set vertices of this heterogeneous economic network by binary roles (guarantor and guarantee), and then define high-order adjacent measures based on their roles and economic domain knowledge. Afterwards, we design a penalty parameter in the objective function to balance the importance of network structure and adjacency. We optimize it by negative sampling based gradient descent algorithms,which solve the limitation of stochastic gradient descent on weighted edges without compromising efficiency. Finally, we test our proposed method on three real-world network datasets. The result shows that this method outperforms other start-of-the-art algorithms for both classification accuracy and robustness, especially in a guarantee network.
