A novel kind of aromatic diamine, N-（4-（4-（2,6-diphenyl pyridine-4-yl） phenoxy） phenyl）-3,5-diaminobezamide （DPDAB）, was synthesized via aromatic nucleophilic substitution of 3,5-dinitrobenzoylchloride with 4-（4-（2,6- diphenylpyridine-4-yl）phenoxy）aniline （DPPA）, followed by palladium-catalyzed hydrazine reduction. This monomer was used to prepare polyimides （PIs） based on reaction with several commerically avaiable tetracarboxylic dianhydrides such as pyromellatic dianhydride （PMDA）, benzophenone tetracarboxylic acide dianhydride （BTDA） and bicycle [2.2.2] oct-7-ene- 2, 3,5,6-tetracarboxylic dianhydride （BCDA）. These PIs had inherent viscosity in the range of 0.34-0.76 dL/g and showed good solubility in various aprotic polar solvents. The glass-transition tempratures （Tgs） of the PIs were in the range of 184-302℃, and showed high thermal stability with 10% weight loss in the temperature range of 360-500℃ under nitrogen atmosphere.

Aromatic/aliphatic polyamides were synthesized from a diamine monomer, 2,3-bis-p-aminophenylquinoxaline （IV）, based on quinoxaline and various dicarboxylic acids of aliphatic, aromatic and heterocyclic. The diamine and polyamides were characterized by elemental analysis, FTIR and IH-NMR. The solubility of the polyamides was affected by the quinoxaline and heterocyclic groups in the polymer chain. They were all soluble in common organic solvents such as dimethylsulfoxide （DMSO）, N,N-dimethylformamide （DMF） and N-methylpyrolidone （NMP）. The polyamides showed inherent viscosity in the range of 0.25-0.3 dL/g in DMSO at 25℃ and good thermal stability with the char yields in the range of 65%-82% at 600℃ in nitrogen.

New types of polyamides containing pendent triaryl pyridine groups were successfully synthesized by direct polycondensation of a symmetry diamine,（4-（4-（2,6-diphenylpyridin-4yl）phenoxy）phenyl）-3,5-diaminobezamide（DPDAB）, and various aromatic and aliphatic dicarboxylic diacids in NMP using triphenyl phosphate（TPP） and pyridine as catalyst. The diamine and all the prepared polyamides were fully characterized by using FT-IR,~1H-NMR,UV-Vis spectroscopy, fluorimetry and elemental *** inherent viscosity of polyamides ranged from 0.45 dL/g to 0.68 dL/*** the polymers exhibited solubility in common polar aprotic solvents such as NMP,DMAc,DMF,DMSO,pyridine,HMPA,and even in less polar solvents such as THF and m-cresol at room *** properties of polyamides were evaluated by means of DSC,DMTA and *** polymers showed glass transition temperatures（T_g） in the range of 138-210℃. Their initial decomposition temperature（T_i） varied from 265℃to 310℃under N_*** dilute solution（0.2 g/dL） of polyamides in DMF exhibited fluorescence emission withλ_（max） in the range of 470-550 nm.

This work reports synthesis and characterization of heterocyclic functionalized polymers, poly（triazole-etherimidazole）s（PTAEI）, from a dialkyne-terminated compound, 3-（4,5-bis（4-（propargyloxy）phenyl）-1H-imidazol-2-yl）-9-ethyl-9H-carbazole, by using click reaction. PTAEIs were characterized and their properties such as solubility, thermal, mechanical, photophysical and metal ions adsorption were investigated. These polymers had weight average molar masses（Mw） in the range of 19100-26700 g/mol, exhibited excellent solubility in polar aprotic solvents and formed low-colored flexible thin films by solution casting method. They exhibited good thermal stability with glass transition temperatures（Tg） between 160 °C and 211 °C and 10% weight loss temperatures（T10%） in the range of 308-426 °C. Nanocomposites of PTAEIs with epoxide-terminated Fe3O4 showed that strong interfacial interaction between inorganic particles and the polymer matrix contributed to the enhanced thermal and mechanical properties. The photoluminescence intensity of the PTAEIs increased and the spectra red shifted with increasing Fe3O4 content. The PTAEIs and nanocomposites were tested for their extraction capability of metal ions from aqueous solutions either individually or in the mixture.

A series of new Schiff base polyamides（PAs） were synthesized by polycondensation of benzilbisthiosemicarbazone diamine（LH6） with different commercially available aliphatic and aromatic diacid chlorides. The monomer and all the PAs were characterized by FTIR,^1H-NMR,and elemental *** prepared polyamides showed inherent viscosities in the range of 0.30-0.36 dL/g in DMF at 25℃,indicating their moderate molecular *** PAs were completely soluble in aprotic polar solvents such as dimethylformamide（DMF）,N-methylpyrolidone（NMP）, tetrachloroethane（TCE）,dimthylsulfoxide（DMSO） and also in H_2SO_4 and partially soluble in THF,acetone and chloroform at room *** analysis showed that these PAs were practically amorphous and exhibited 10%weight loss above 220℃.

New unsymmetrical diamine monomer containing triaryl imidazole pendent group, 4-[4-（4,5-diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-y1）phe- noxy]-1,3-benzenediamine, was synthesized via aromatic substitution reaction of 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrobenzene with 4-（4,5- diphenyl-1H-imidazol-2-y1）pbenol, followed by palladium-catalyzed hydrazine reduction. This new monomer was further confirmed by FT-IR, IH NMR and ^13C NMR. Novel polyamides having pendant triaryl imidazole group were prepared by the phosphorylation polycondensation of four commercially aromatic dicarboxylic acids with the prepared diamine. Inherent viscosities of polyamides were in the range 0.42-0.53 dL/g indicating formation of medium molecular weight polymers. Polyamides exhibited glass-transition temperature （Tg） in the range 236-265 ℃. These polymers are essentially amorphous and were soluble in polar aprotic solvents such as DMF, NMP, DMAc. The 10% weight loss temperatures in air atmosphere, measured by TGA were in the range 350-373 ℃ indicating their good thermal stabilities. ？2009 mousa ghaemy. Three diamine monomers with different derivatives of imidazole heterocyclic ring and meta-linked aryl ethers were synthesized and used in polycodensation reaction with various commercial dianhydrides for preparation of a series of novel poly（ether-imide）（PEI）s. The polycodensation reactions were carried out by using conventional method and in a green medium of ionic liquid （IL） without using NMP-pyridine-acetic anhydride. The PEIs were obtained in good yields （80%-96%） with moderate viscosity （0.48-0.66 dL/g） in a shorter reaction time （10 h） in IL as compared with the conventional method （36 h）. All of the polymers were amorphous in nature, showed excellent solubility in amide-type polar aprotic solvents with ability to form tough and flexible films, and excellent thermal stability with Tgs in the range of 212-340℃ and 10% weight loss temperature （T10） up to 570℃ in N2 and 528 ℃ in air.

Dinitroterephthalic acid （DNTPA） and diaminoterephthalic acid （DATPA） were prepared in 85% and 75% yields, respectively. These compounds were characterized by using FTIR and ^1HNMR. Nanocomposites from nanoscale silica particles（NS）,diglycidylether of bisphenol-A based epoxy（DGEBA）,and 3,5-diamino-N-（4-（quinolin-8-yloxy） phenyl） benzamide（DQPB） as curing agent were obtained from direct blending of these *** effect of nanosilica（NS） particles as catalyst on the cure reaction of DGEBA/DQPB system was studied by using non-isothermal DSC *** activation energy（E_a） was obtained by using Kissinger and Ozawa equations. The E_a value of curing of DGEBA/DQPB/10%NS system showed a decrease of about 10 kJ/mol indicating the catalytic effect of NS particles on the cure *** E_a values of thermal degradation of the cured samples of both systems were 148 kJ/mol and 160 kJ/mol,*** addition of 10%of NS to the curing mixture did not have much effect on the initial decomposition temperature（T_i） but increased the char residues from 20%to 28%at 650℃.
