The Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System program,which uses the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(CM),has been updated with the launch of new satellites and the availability of newly upgraded radiation *** spatial and temporal variability of daily averaged synoptic 1-degree CM version 3(CMv3)(old)and version 4(CMv4)(new)downwelling shortwave(QS)and longwave radiation(QL)data in the global tropical oceans spanning 30°S-30°N from 2000 to 2017 is *** in situ data from the Global Tropical Moored Buoy Array were used to validate the CM data from 2000 to *** compared to CMv3,both QS and QL in CMv4 show significant improvements in bias,root-mean-square error,and standard ***,a long-term trend analysis shows that QS has been increasing by 1 W m^(−2) per year in the Southern *** contrast,the Northern Hemisphere has a−0.7 W m^(−2) annual decreasing *** and QL exhibit similar spatial trend ***,in the Indian Ocean,Indo-Pacific warm pool region,and Southern Hemisphere,QL spatial patterns in CMv3 and CMv4 differ with an opposite trend(0.5 W m^(−2)).These annual trends in QS and QL could cause the sea surface temperature to change by−0.2 to 0.3℃per year in the tropical *** results stress the importance of accurate radiative flux data,and CMv4 can be an alternative to reanalysis or other model-simulated data.

The production and productivity of rice has been challenged due to biotic and abiotic *** blight(BB)disease,caused by Xanthomonas oryzae ***,is one of the important biotic stress factors,which reduces rice production by 20%-50%.The deployment of host plant resistance is the most preferred strategy for management of BB disease,and breeding disease resistant varieties remains a very economical and effective ***,it is difficult to develop rice varieties with durable broad-spectrum resistance against BB using conventional approaches *** biotechnological tools,particularly the deployment of molecular markers,have facilitated the cloning,characterization and introgression of BB resistance genes into elite *** least 46 BB resistance genes have been identified and mapped from diverse sources till *** these,11 genes have been cloned and ***-assisted breeding remains the most efficient approach to improve BB resistance by introducing two or more resistance genes into target *** the identified genes,xa5,xa13 and Xa21 are being widely used in marker-assisted breeding and more than 70 rice varieties or hybrid rice parental lines have been improved for their BB resistance alone or in combination with genes/QTLs conferring tolerance to other *** review the developments related to identification and utilization of various resistance genes to develop BB resistant rice varieties through marker-assisted breeding.

Design and FPGA-Implementation of Minimum PED Based K-Best Algorithm in MIMO Detector

Minimum Partial Euclidean Distance (MPED) based K-best algorithm is proposed to detect the best signal for MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) detector. It is based on Breadth-first search method. The proposed algorithm is independent of the number of transmitting/receiving antennas and constellation size. It provides a high throughput and reduced Bit Error Rate (BER) with the performance close to Maximum Likelihood Detection (MLD) method. The main innovations are the nodes that are expanded and visited based on MPED algorithm and it keeps track of finally selecting the best candidates at each cycle. It allows its complexity to scale linearly with the modulation order. Using Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) the complex domain input signals are modulated and are converted into wavelet packets and these packets are transmitted using Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) channel. Then from the number of received signals the best signal is detected using MPED based K-best algorithm. It provides the exact best node solution with reduced complexity. The pipelined VLSI architecture is the best suited for implementation because the expansion and sorting cores are data driven. The proposed method is implemented targeting Xilinx Virtex 5 device for a 4 × 4, 64-QAM system and it achieves throughput of 1.1 Gbps. The results of resource utilization are tabulated and compared with the existing algorithms.

In this paper, we propose a novel methodology to guide and assist practitioners supporting software architecture and design activities in agile environments. Software architecture and design is the skeleton of a system. It defines how the system has to behave in terms of different functional and non-functional requirements. Currently, a clear specification of software architectural design activities and processes in agile environments does not exist. Our methodology describes in detail the phases in the agile software design process and proposes techniques and tools to implement these phases.

背景:肥胖常见于肝硬化患者,特别是非酒精性脂肪性肝炎(NASH)越来越流行之后。考虑到较高的围手术期风险,临床上会尽量避免对这些患者进行减重手术,因此,其长期疗效的数据仍然缺乏。本研究旨在评估减重手术对肝硬化患者中的长期疗效。方法:我们对2009年2月23日至2011年11月9日间开展的一项初步研究的病例资料进行回顾性分析,包括肝病情况、代谢状态及生存结果。该研究前瞻性地纳入接受减肥手术的代偿性肝硬化成人患者并对其进行随访。本研究对其中随访记录超过4年的患者进行描述性分析,以评估减肥手术的长期疗效。结果:全组共10例患者,其中女性7例。术后平均随访时间8.7-1.4年。所有患者均患有病理证实的NASH;2位患者并发未经治疗的丙型肝炎。随访期间,患者体重平均下降24 kg(相对于术前体重下降19.2%,P<0.001),仅1例患者重回术前水平。1例不宜肝移植的患者术后3年发生肝性脑病,随即去世;其余9例患者未发生肝性脑病、心血管事件或死亡。末次随访时,除1例吉尔伯特综合征患者之外,其余8例胆红素水平均在正常范围内。结论:减肥手术应用于使代偿性肝硬化患者,不仅可获得长期的减重效果,而且能保持稳定的肝功能。

Joining of AZ31 and AZ91 Mg alloys by friction stir welding

Two dissimilar magnesium(Mg)alloy sheets,one with low aluminium(AZ31)and another with high aluminium(AZ91)content,were successfully joined by friction stir welding(FSW).The effect of process parameters on the formation of hot cracks was investigated.A sound metallurgical joint was obtained at optimized process parameters(1400 rpm with 25 mm/min feed)which contained fine grains and distributed β(Mg_(17)Al_(12))phase within the nugget *** increasing trend in the hardness measurements has also confirmed more amount of dissolution of aluminium within the nugget zone.A sharp interface between nugget zone and thermo mechanical affected zone(TMAZ)was clearly noticed at the AZ31 Mg alloy side(advancing)but not on the AZ91 Mg alloy side(retreating).From the results it can be concluded that FSW can be effectively used to join dissimilar metals,particularly difficult to process metals such as Mg alloys,and hot cracking can be completely eliminated by choosing appropriate process parameters to achieve sound joint.

According to WHO, cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, accounting for 8.2 million deaths in 2012. Among several factors involved in the pathogenesis of cancer, free radical formation followed by damage to DNA and cell protein is one of the causes. Natural plant products have gained enormous interest in the prevention or treatment of chronic diseases. Ferulic acid, like other phenolic acids (caffeic acid, sinapic acid) possess anti cancer activity. A series of ferulic esters (FE1 - FE11) and ferulic amides (FA1 - FA10) were synthesized and evaluated for their cytotoxic activity.
