Impact of different nano additives on performance, combustion, emissions and exergetic analysis of a diesel engine using waste cooking oil biodiesel

Biodiesel is derived from waste cooking oil (WCO) by transesterification. methylester was prepared by mixing diesel and biodiesel oils as 20% by volume. Nano particles asTiO2, Al2O3 and CNTs were blended with biodiesel blend at different concentrations of 25,50, and 100 mg/l to enhance the physicochemical fuel characteristics to obtain clean and effi-cient combustion performance. An experimental setup was incorporated into a diesel engine toinvestigate the influence of these nano-materials on engine performance, exergy analysis, combustion characteristics and emissions using WCO biodiesel-diesel mixture. Enriching methylester mixture with 100 ppm titanium, alumina and CNTs (B20T100, B20A100 andB20C100) increased the thermal efficiency by 4%, 6% and 11.5%, respectively compared toB20. Biodiesel blending with nano additives B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100 decreasedthe emissions of CO (11%, 24% and 30%, respectively), HC (8%, 17% and 25%, respectively)and smoke (10%, 13% and 19%, respectively) compared to B20. However, the noticeable increase of NOx was estimated by 5%, 12% and 27% for B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100,respectively. Finally, the results showed the rise in peak cylinder pressure by 5%, 9% and 11% and increase in heat release rate by 4%, 8% and 13% for B20T100, B20A100 andB20C100, respectively. The fuel exergy of B20T100, B20A100 and B20C100 are lower thanbiodiesel blend B20 by 6.5%, 16% and 23% but the exergetic efficiency are increased by 7%,19% and 30% at full load about B20.

Extraction of biodiesel from waste cooking oil,jatropha,and corn oils is done by *** and biodiesel were blended at 20%volume ratio to make methyl *** doses of 25,50,and 100 mg/l,carbon nanotubes(CNTs)was mixed with biodiesel *** objective of the present research is to examine experimentally a diesel engine performance,combustion characteristics,exergy and emissions analyses with inclusion of nano additive to various methyl ester *** ester blend is enriched with CNTs as JB20C100,WB20C100 and CB20C100 where the improvements in thermal efficiency are raised about biodiesel mixture by 9%,13%and 15%,*** of 100 ppm of CNTs to biodiesel blends achieves the greatest reductions in CO(14%,22%and 30%),HC(16%,20%and 25%),and smoke emissions(15%,19%and 23%)for JB20C100,WB20C100 and CB20C100,*** comparing with B20,blending 100 ppm CNTs with JB20,CB20,and WB20 obtained the highest increases in cylinder pressure of 3%,5%,and 10%,as well as the highest increases in heat release of 4%,7%,and 11%,*** downside of CNTs addition achieves a rise in NOx emissions by 10%,17%,and 22%for JB20C100,WB20C100,and CB20C100,*** efficiency increases by 8%,19%,and 24%for B20T100,B20A100,and B20C100,*** index improvements achieve 1.5%,5%and 6.5%,for B20T100,B20A100,and B20C100,***20 with CNTs of 100 ppm is highly recommended for improving engine performance,combustion,and exergy characteristics with considerable emissions reduction.

Neuroimaging has emerged over the last few decades as a crucial tool in diagnosing Alzheimer’s disease(AD).mild cognitive impairment(mCI)is a condition that falls between the spectrum of normal cognitive function and ***,previous studies have mainly used handcrafted features to classify mCI,AD,and normal control(NC)*** paper focuses on using gray matter(Gm)scans obtained through magnetic resonance imaging(mRI)for the diagnosis of individuals with mCI,AD,and *** improve classification performance,we developed two transfer learning strategies with data augmentation(i.e.,shear range,rotation,zoom range,channel shift).The first approach is a deep Siamese network(DSN),and the second approach involves using a cross-domain strategy with customized *** performed experiments on the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative(ADNI)dataset to evaluate the performance of our proposed *** experimental results demonstrate superior performance in classifying the three binary classification tasks:NC ***,NC ***,and mCI ***,we achieved a classification accuracy of 97.68%,94.25%,and 92.18%for the three cases,*** study proposes two transfer learning strategies with data augmentation to accurately diagnose mCI,AD,and normal control individuals using Gm *** findings provide promising results for future research and clinical applications in the early detection and diagnosis of AD.

Cartilage tympanoplasty in the treatment of adhesive otitis media with and without Eustachian tube balloon dilatation

Purpose:To compare cartilage tympanoplasty(CT)combined with eustachian tube balloon dilatation(ETBD)and cartilage tympanoplasty alone as a surgical treatment modality for adhesive otitis media(AdOm)in terms of graft healing,audiological outcomes,and impact on life style,using Chronic Otitis media Outcome Test 15(COmOT-15).methods:50 patients with AdOm were randomly classified into 2 groups:25 patients for cartilage tympanoplasty only(CT group)and 25 patients for cartilage tympanoplasty combined with eustachian tube balloon dilatation(CT t ETBD group).Clinical outcomes in both groups were compared at 3 and 6 months of follow ***:There was no significant difference in graft healing between the two *** COmOT-15 scores significantly decreased in both groups with a significant difference between the groups with regard to the decrease in COmOT-15 scores at 3 and 6 months of follow-up(Pmprovement was achieved,as the mean preoperative ABG was 26.5±5.4 and 27.1±4.6 dB,and the mean postoperative ABG at 6 months was 19.4±4.4 and 14.6±3.9 dB in the CT and the CT t ETBD groups,*** difference in the magnitude of ABG reduction in the two groups was significant at 3 and 6 months of postoperative follow-up(Pmpanoplasty in patients with AdOm by enhancing the audiological outcome and quality of life.

Correlation between IL28B/TLR4 genetic variants and HCC development with/without DAAs treatment in chronic HCV patients

In Egypt,Sofosbuvir(SOF)in combination with Dataclasvir(DCV)is the broadly used DAAs with excellent therapeutic *** study is designed to explore the relation between IL28B/TLR4 genetic variants and each of the followings;HCC development post SOF/DCV treatment,progression to HCC in naı¨ve patients and SOF/DCV therapy outcome.A total of 493 blood samples were collected(controls(n = 70);HCV patients treated with SOF/DCV(n = 252)of whom 65 patients developed HCC,187 patients didn’t develop HCC(125 responders,62 relapsers);naı¨ve HCV patients(n = 171)had early(n = 48),late liver fibrosis(n = 21)and HCC(n = 102)).Both SNPs were genotyped using a Taqman 50 allelic discrimination *** IL28B rs12979860 SNP,the C allele was significantly correlating with the response rate more than T allele(OR 1.9,95%CI 1.29e2.9,p=0.004),while at TLR4 rs4986791 SNP,no association was found(OR 6.5,95%0.57e75.28,p = 0.09).Both SNPs couldn’t detect the probability for HCC emergence after *** naı¨ve patients,the protective alleles were detected in their lowest frequency in HCC patients(p = 0.1,for rs12979860 and,p = 0.001 for rs4986791).SOF/DCV combination improved SVR rates in HCV genotype 4a infected patients regardless of IL28B genotype,with the best rates in those lacking the T allele.

Characteristics of escape mutations from occult hepatitis B virus infected patients with hematological malignancies in South Egypt

AIm To investigate the prevalence and virological characteristics of occult hepatitis B virus(HBV) infections in patients with hematological malignancies in South *** Serum samples were collected from 165 patients with hematological malignancies to monitor titers of HBV DNA, hepatitis B surface antigen(HBs Ag), and antibodies to HBV core(anti-HBc) and surface antigens. Serum samples negative for HBs Ag and positive for anti-HBc were subjected to nucleic acid extraction and HBV DNA detection by real-time polymerase chain reaction. DNA sequences spanning the S region were analyzed in cases with occult HBV infection. In vitro comparative study of constructed 1.24-fold wild type and S protein mutant HBV genotype D clones was further performed. RESULTS HBV DNA was detected in 23(42.6%) of 54 patients with hematological malignancies who were HBsA g negative, but anti-HBc positive, suggesting the presence of occult HBV infection. The complete HBV genome was retrieved from 6 occult HBV patients, and P120 T and S143 L were detected in 3 and 2 cases, respectively. Site directed mutagenesis was done to produce 1.24-fold genotype D clones with amino acid mutations T120 and L143. The in vitro analyses revealed that a lower level of extracellular HBsA g was detected by chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay(CLEIA) with the clone containing T120 mutation, compared with the wild type or the clone with S143 L mutation despite the similar levels of extracellular and intracellular HBs Ag detected by Western blot. Southern blot experiments showed that the levels of intracellular HBV DNA were not different between these clones. CONCLUSION Occult HBV infection is common in patients with hematological malignancies and associated with P120 T and S143 L mutations. 120 T mutation impairs the detection of HBsA g by CLEIA.

Assessment of heme oxygenase-1 （HO-1） activity in the cavernous tissues of sildenafil citrate-treated rats

Aim： To assess heine oxygenase-1 （HO-1） activity in the cavemous tissue of sildenafil citrate-treated rats. methods： One hundred and ninety-two Sprague-Dawley male rats, divided into four equal groups, were investigated. Group 1, the control group, received regular animal chow; group 2 received sildenafil citrate by intragastric tube; group 3 received sildenafil and HO inhibitor （zinc protoporphyrin, ZnPP）; and group 4 received sildenafil and nitric oxide synthase （NOS） inhibitor L-nitroarginine methyl ester （L-NAmE）. Twelve rats from each group were killed after 0.5 h, 1 h, 2 h and 3 h of drug administration. Then HO-1 activity, cGmP levels and NOS enzymatic activity in the cavernous tissues were estimated. Results： In cavemous tissue, HO-1 activity, NOS enzymatic activity and cGmP concentration increased significantly in sildenafil-treated rats compared to other groups throughout the experiment. Rats receiving either HO or NOS inhibitors showed a significant decrease in these parameters. HO- 1 cavemous tissue activity and NOS enzymatic activity demonstrated a positive significant correlation with cGmP levels （r = 0.646, r = 0.612 respectively; P 〈 0.001）. Conclusion： The actions of PDE5 inhibitor sildenafil citrate in the cavernous tissue are partly mediated through the interdependent relationship between both HO-1 and NOS activities.

Small non-protein coding micro-RNAs are regularly exported out of cells, both in health and disease. more than ninety percent of extracellular miRNAs are associated with lower-molecular-mass complexes bound to Argonaute 2 (Ago2), nucleophosmin-1 (NPm1) and high density lipoproteins (HDL), whereas the rest (~10%) are membrane-vesicle-encapsulated within exosomes, shedding microvesicles and apoptotic bodies. Regardless of the debate of the nature of circulating miRNA as byproducts of routine cell activities or mediators of cell-cell communication, proper understanding of the molecular behaviors of miRNA in health and disease, is expected to open a new gate for the discovery of new diagnostic tools and possibly therapeutic implementation in the near future.
