A theoretical investigation of heat flow, solidification and solid shell resistance “Ic” has been undertaken by using a mathematical model and previous plant trials. The ultimate purpose is to develop operating conditions and therefore to improve the surface quality for continuously cast steel slabs. A new simple criterion called mold thermomechanical rigidity “MTMR” has been proposed to evaluate and to improve these purposes. The parameters of MTMR and its non-dimensional number which use to control the surface defects are present in this investigation. Previous plant trails of slab surface defects formation have been investigated thermo-mechanically with this criterion. The predications show that this criterion is very sensitive of operating parameters and is a significant qualitative tool to evaluate the surface quality. From examination of the behavior of MTMR, the susceptibility and mechanism of surface defects formations with MTMR have been primarily discussed.

Translation has been the subject of a variety of research and conflicts among theorists. This fact that gives Thomas Samuel Kuhn＇s paradigm theory is pertinent to the present study. Kuhn is an American philosopher of Science. In his book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions, he proposes his paradigm theory which plays a great role in the development of sociology and philosophy of Science. According to Kuhn （1970）, paradigm originates from one or some famous people＇s achievements, and for these achievements to be considered as paradigms, two major characteristics must be met as will be clarified in this paper. This study is an attempt to outline the scope of the disciplines of Translation Studies （TS）, to give some indication of the kind of work that has been done so far. It is an attempt to demonstrate that TS is a discipline in its own right. It is a vastly complex field with many far-reaching ramifications. This study discusses the relationships between the changing definitions of translation and the turns of translation studies.

The cornerstone and the single most fundamental change in perspective on the nature of language and language learning is, perhaps, the focus on learners as active creators in their learning process, not as passive recipients. The study aims at investigating some second language learners＇ meta-linguistic ability in solving multidimensional grammatical problems. The subjects of the present study were 40 Egyptian students who were in their fourth year of academic study in the Department of English and Literature, Faculty of Arts, Menufia University, Egypt. The instrument of this study consisted of pre-test, post-test and individual interviews. Two tasks were used：（1）＂Sentence Completion＂ task; and （2）＂Error Recognition and Correction＂ task. Finally, students were interviewed to explain and comment on their performance in the previous tasks. The data were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. Results were obtained and conclusions were made.

In order to study the central quality of continuously cast tool steel slabs, the simple model has been developed to simulate the macrosegregation quality criteria. The model calculates different quality criteria such as average macro-segregation level criterion “ASL”, its fluctuation level “FSL” and its segregation quality number “SQN”. These criteria are calculated based on the previous measurements of carbon and sulfur concentrations distributions in final region of spray zones and centerline area of lower and upper slab sides. The effect of mechanical soft reduction Technique “MSR” on the slab centerline quality is examined and analyzed. The model results show that MSR affects the quality of centerline areas significantly by different ways based on the casting speed. The experimental and theoretical results clarify that the qualities of different slab sides are different for all collected samples. The model results show also that the accuracy of the macro-segregation quality criteria increases quantitatively with increasing the number of analyzed segregated elements. Therefore, the macrosegregation quality criteria and their distributions can be considered as the most simple and vital tool to evaluate the various slab qualities. Finally, the mechanism of centerline segregation formation with mechanical soft reduction is discussed in this study.

Background:We aimed to evaluate the medium-term efficacy of sleeve gastrectomy(SG)***-en-Y gastric bypass(RYGB)on remission of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).Methods:We identified severely obese patients[body mass index(BMI)>35 kg/m^(2)]with NAFLD(as defined by the Longitudinal Assessment of Bariatric Surgery Study)and T2DM(as defined by the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists and the American College of Endocrinology)who underwent SG or RYGB in a single university surgical *** cohorts were match-paired and data were analysed after at least 3 years of follow *** key outcomes measured were:(I)the improvement of liver function tests and NAFLD markers;(II)glycemic control and insulin ***:Ninety-six patients were investigated;44(45.8%)were *** mean pre-operative BMI was 45.2 kg/m2 in the SG and 42.0 kg/m^(2) in the RYGB *** and RYGB both significantly reduced serum liver enzyme *** markers resolved 2 years after SG in all *** contrast,only 78%and 80%of patients achieved remission of NAFLD 2 and 3 years after RYBG *** procedures resulted in comparable rates of remission of ***:Bariatric surgery with SG may be preferable to RYGB for obese patients with NAFLD and T2DM based on the rates of remission of markers of these ***,our results need to be confirmed in prospective *** the metabolic effects of specific bariatric surgical procedures may facilitate the development of a personalised approach to weight-loss surgery.

We report where and how ions are accelerated in the proximity of earthward propagating dipolarization fronts （DFs） in the magnetotail during a magnetospheric substorm on February 15, 2008. Two DFs were observed by multiple THEMIS space- craft in the near-Earth magnetotail （-10 Re）. We studied the ion dynamics associated with these DFs by comparing observed results with large scale kinetic （LSK） simulation results. The LSK simulation reproduced the sudden ion energy flux enhance- ment concurrent with the arrival of the DF at the satellite locations. We found that ions can be accelerated to more than 100 keV energy at the DF. These ions were initially non-adiabatically accelerated near magnetic reconnection site and then still non-adiabatically accelerated at the DF structure.

Rational construction of hierarchical multi-component materials with abundant heterostructure is evolving as a promising strategy to achieve excellent metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)based electromagnetic wave(EMW)***,hierarchical heterostructure WS_(2)/CoS_(2)@carbonized cotton fiber(CCF)was fabricated using the ZIF-67 MOFs nanosheets anchored cotton fiber(ZIF-67@CF)as a precursor through the tungsten etching,sulfurization,and carbonization *** from the synergetic effect of dielectric-magnetic dual-loss mechanism,the hierarchical heterostructure and multicomponent of WS_(2)/CoS_(2)@CCF also display improved impedance ***,numerous W-S-Co bands and heterojunction interfaces of heterogeneous WS_(2)/CoS_(2)are beneficial to promoting additional interfacial/dipole polarization loss and conductive loss,thereby enhancing the EMW attenuation *** on the percolation theory,a good balance between impedance matching and EMW absorption capacity was achieved for the WS_(2)/CoS_(2)@CCF/paraffin composite with 20 wt.%filler loading,exhibiting strong EMW absorption capability with a minimum reflection loss(RLmin)value of−51.26 dB at 17.36 GHz with 2 mm thickness and a maximum effective absorption bandwidth(EABmax)as wide as 6.72 *** research will provide new guidance for designing high-efficient MOFs derived EMW absorbers.
