Design, Synthesis and Cancer Cell Line Activities of Pyrazolo[3,4-<i>b</i>]pyridine Derivatives

Starting from 4,6-dimethyl-2-oxo-(1H)-3-pyridinecarbonitrile 1 and 3-aminopyrazolopyridine 4, a series of cyanopyri- dine derivatives 3a-i, Schiff bases 5a-f, urea and thiourea derivatives 6a-b, amide derivatives 7a-h, pyridopyra- zolopy-rimidine 8a-b and pyridopyrazolotriazine 10a-b were synthesized. Activities of eleven representative compounds were evaluated against A-549 (lung), HEPG2 (liver) and HCT-116 (colon) cancer cell lines. The findings revealed that some of the synthesized compounds showed remarkable anticancer activities, especially 8b which displayed the highest activity among the tested compounds with IC50 equal to 2.9, 2.6 and 2.3 μmol. In addition to synthesis and biological activities, we present discussion about the rationale of the design and activity of the potent compound 8b using struc- ture-based modeling tools.

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is the most common cause of cancer-related death in Saudi *** study aimed to investigate the patterns of HCC and the effect of TNM staging,Alfa-fetoprotein(AFP),and Child-Turcotte Pugh(CTP)on patients’overall survival(OS).Methods:A retrospective analysis was conducted on 43 HCC patients at a single oncology center in Saudi Arabia from 2015 to *** patients had to fulfill one of the following criteria:(a)a liver lesion reported as definitive HCC on dynamic imaging and/or(b)a biopsy-confirmed ***:The mean patient age of all HCC cases was 66.8 with a male-to-female ratio of 3.3:*** patients were stratified into two groups:viral HCC(n=22,51%)and non-viral HCC(n=21,49%).Among viral-HCC patients,55%were due to HBV and 45%due to *** was diagnosed in 79%of *** and sex did not significantly statistically differ in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value>0.05).About 65%of patients had tumor size>5 cm during the diagnosis,with a significant statistical difference in OS(p-value=0.027).AFP was>400 ng/ml in 45%of the *** was a statistically significant difference in the OS in terms of AFP levels(p-value=0.021).A statistically significant difference was also observed between the CTP score and OS(p-value=0.02).CTP class B had the longest *** was the most common treatment provided to HCC patients followed by sorafenib *** was a significant statistical difference in OS among viral and non-viral HCC patients(p-value=0.008).Conclusions:The most common predictors for OS were the underlying cause of HCC,AFP,and tumor *** having non-viral etiology,a tumor size>5 cm,an AFP>400 ng/mL,and a CTP score class C were all negatively associated with OS.

Background: The tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) is an indirect estimate of right ventricular-pulmonary arterial (RV-PA) coupling that has been shown to correlate with invasive measures. We aimed to assess the ability of the tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion/pulmonary systolic pressure ratio (TAPSE/PASP) as a measure for RV-PA coupling to predict the development of RV dysfunction after cardiac surgery. Methods: This prospective study was conducted on 100 patients with ischemic heart disease and undergoing cardiac surgery (coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)) with normal preoperative right ventricular function, classified according to RV function outcomes into 2 groups: Normal RV group (65 patients) and RV dysfunction group (35 patients). All cases underwent per and postoperative transthoracic echocardiography. Results: By using receiver operating characteristic curve analysis, pre-operative TAPSE/PASP ratio could significantly predict the RV dysfunction (P 0.58, with AUC of 94%, 88.6% sensitivity, and 89.2% specificity. Post-operative TAPSE/PASP Ratio could significantly predict the RV dysfunction (P 0.39, with AUC of 84%, 100% sensitivity, and 76.9% specificity. Pre-operative TAPSE/PASP ratio could significantly predict mortality (P Conclusion: The TAPSE/PASP ratio is an excellent tool for CABG patients for its ability to detect and predict the development of RV dysfunction after cardiac surgery, along with the prediction of mortality in post-operative CABG patients.

This study was conducted to investigate the properties of Pr3+-Dy3+doped Zn2Y-type hexaferrite for potential technological applications.X-ray diffraction（XRD）,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy（FTIR） and field-emission scanning electron microscopy（FESEM） were used to analyze structural *** crystallite size in the synthesized samples varies between 57.54 and 68.57 *** vibrational bands at 400 and 600 cm-1,common to all hexaferrites,were confirmed through *** FESEM analysis reveals an agglomeration of magnetic grains and a decrease in the average grain size from 1.24 to1.06 μ*** M-H loops show that,with x values of 0.0,0.1,and 0.2,the saturation magnetization is determined to be 34.76,34.23,and 32.52 emu/g,*** corresponding coercivity values are21.24,30.39,and 33.99 ***-visible spectroscopy using Tauc theory reveals an increase in the optical band gap from 2.32 to 2.50 eV,indicating a tunable energy band structure by incorporating Pr3+-Dy3+*** dielectric constant increases,whereas AC conductivity decreases with increased Pr3+-Dy3+*** obtained results suggest the potential suitability of these materials for various technological applications.

A 3D crustal model was constructed using a combination of cutting-edge techniques, which were integrated to provide a density model for Egypt and address the sporadic distribution of seismic data. These techniques include obtaining gravity data from the Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE), creating seismic profiles, analyzing the receiver functions of seismic data, obtaining information from boreholes, and providing geological interpretations. GOCE satellite gravity data were processed to construct a preliminary model based on nonlinear inversions of the data. A regional crustal thickness model was developed using receiver functions, seismic refraction profiles, and geological insights. The inverted model was validated using borehole data and compared with seismic estimates. The model exhibited strong consistency and revealed a correlation between crustal thickness, geology, and tectonics of Egypt. It showed that the shallowest depths of the Moho are located in the north along the Mediterranean Sea and in the eastern part along the Red Sea, reflecting an oceanic plate with a thin, high-density crust. The deepest Moho depths are located in the southwestern part of Egypt, Red Sea coastal mountains, and Sinai Peninsula. The obtained 3D model of crustal thickness provided finely detailed Moho depth estimates that aligned closely with geology and tectonic characteristics of Egypt, contributing valuable insights into the subsurface structure and tectonic processes of region.

We present the ferroresonance overvoltage mitigation concerning the power systems of the grid-connectcd wind energy conversion systems(WECSs).WECS is considered based on a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG).Ferroresonance overvoltage associated with a single-pole outage of the line breaker is mitigated by fast regulating the reactive power using the static compensator(STATCOM).STATCOM controller is introduced,in which t>\o incorporated proportional-integral(PI)controllers are optimally tuned using a modified flow-er pollination algorithm(MFPA)as an optimization *** show the capability of the proposed STATCOM controller in mitigating the ferroresonance overvoltage,two test cases are introduced,which are based on the interconnection status of the power transformer used with the grid-connected *** results show that the ferroresonance disturbance can occur for the power transformers installed in the wind farms although the transformer terminals are interconnected,and neither side of the transformer is ***,as a mitigation method of ferroresonance overvoltage,the proposed STATCOM controller succeeds in improving the system voltage profile and speed profile of the wind turbine as well as protecting the system components against the ferroresonance overvoltage.

In this study,ultrahigh-performance fiber-reinforced concrete(UHPFRC)used in a type B70 concrete sleeper is investigated experimentally and *** main parameters investigated are the steel fiber volume fractions(0%,0.5%,1%,and 1.5%).Under European standards,35 UHPFRC sleepers are subjected to static bending tests at the center and rail seat sections,and the screw on the fastening system is pulled *** first cracking load,failure load,failure mode,crack propagation,load–deflection curve,load–crack width,and failure load from these tests are measured and compared with those of a control sleeper manufactured using normal concrete *** accuracy of the parametric study is verified ***,the results of the study are applied to UHPFRC sleepers with different concrete volumes to investigate the effects of the properties of UHPFRC on their *** and parametric study results show that the behavior of UHPFRC sleepers improves significantly when the amount of steel fiber in the mix is *** manufactured using UHPFRC with a steel fiber volume fraction of 1%and a concrete volume less than 25%that of standard sleeper B70 can be used under the same loads and requirements,which contributes positively to the cost and surrounding environment.

This research uses both three-dimensional(3D)modeling and geologic well control to piece back together the architectural parts of the Late Cretaceous *** goal is to figure out the sizes,directions,locations,and controls of the layers of the fluvial sandstone *** stratigraphy is essential for 3D reservoir modeling and petroleum geology understanding in the Bahga *** purpose of this work is to create a static model that shows the layers and facies distribution in the reservoir *** will use data from nine well logs and 22 seismic lines calibrated by the Abu Roash G Member reservoir core intervals to accomplish *** petrophysical study discovered three parts in the Abu Roash G Member reservoir rock:channel fill that is affected by tides,channel fill that is dominated by tides(intertidal sands),and channel top with lenticular bedded *** model's findings point to the existence of an NNW-oriented sand body,which could be a prime location to produce *** original oil in place(OOIP)is about 3,438,279 Stock Tank Barrels(STB),and the oil reserve reaches up to 1,031,484(STB).Sequence stratigraphic analysis using seismic and well log information(SB)reveals that the Upper Cretaceous AR/G reservoir of the Bahga field is characterized by third-and fourth-order stratigraphic sequences,which are constrained by three Maximum Flooding Surfaces(MFS)and two Sequence *** integration of the derived geological model and sequence stratigraphic results can lower future extraction risk by identifying the locations and trends of the geologic facies with the necessary petrophysical properties for the hydrocarbon accumulations.
