Does Resisted Sled Towing Improve the Physical Qualities of Elite Youth Soccer Players of Differing Maturity Status?

Purpose Sled towing has been shown to be an effective method to enhance the physical qualities in youth *** aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of a 6-week sled towing intervention on muscular strength,speed and power in elite youth soccer players of differing maturity *** Seventy-three male elite youth soccer players aged 12-18 years(Pre-Peak Height Velocity[PHV]n = 25;Circa-PHV n = 24;Post-PHV n = 24)from one professional soccer academy participated in this *** assessments(10 m and 30 m),countermovement jump and isometric mid-thigh pull were undertaken before(T1)and after(T2)a 6-week *** training intervention consisted of 6 weeks(2xper week,10 sprints over 20 m distance)of resisted sled towing(linear progression 10%-30%of body mass)during the competitive *** regression models analysed differences between T1 and T2 within each maturity *** There were minimal changes in strength,speed and power(P=0.35-0.80)for each maturity group across the 6-week *** there were changes with greater certainty,they are unlikely to represent real effect due to higher regres-sion to the mean(RTM).Conclusion It appears that a 6-week sled towing training programme with loadings of 10%-30%body mass only maintains physical qualities in elite youth soccer players pre-,circa-,and *** research is required to determine the effectiveness of this training method in long-term athletic development programmes.

Pathologic tumor response to neoadjuvant therapy in borderline resectable pancreatic cancer

Background:Previous studies have demonstrated the prognostic significance of pathologic tumor response in pancreatic adenocarcinoma following neoadjuvant therapy(NAT).The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of significant pathologic response to NAT in borderline resectable pancreatic cancer(BRPC),and association of NAT regimen and other clinico-pathologic characteristics with pathologic ***:Patients with BRPC who underwent NAT and pancreatic resection between January 2012 and June 2017 were *** response was assessed on a qualitative scale based on the College of American Pathologists grading *** and baseline characteristics,oncologic treatment,pathology,and survival outcomes were ***:Seventy-one patients were included for *** patients had complete pathologic responses(tumor regression score 0),12 patients had marked responses(score 1),42 had moderate responses(score 2),and 13 had minimal responses(score 3).Patients with complete or marked responses were more likely to have received neoadjuvant gemcitabine chemoradiation(62.5%,38.1%,and 23.1%of the complete/marked,moderate,and minimal response groups,respectively;P=0.04).Of the complete/marked,moderate,and minimal response groups,margins were negative in 75.0%,78.6%,and 46.2%(P=0.16);node negative disease was observed in 87.5%,54.8%,and 15.4%(P<0.01);and median overall survival was 50.0 months,31.7 months,and 23.2 months(P=0.563).Of the four patients with pathologic complete responses,three were disease-free at 66.1,41.7 and 31.4 months,and one was deceased with metastatic liver disease at 16.9 ***:A more pronounced pathologic tumor response to NAT in BRPC is correlated with node negative disease,but was not associated with a statistically significant survival benefit in this study.

The promise for industrial applications offered by iron aluminides is today restricted by insufficient ductility at room temperature and mediocre strength and creep resistance at high temperatures. The tendency to embrittlement in the presence of hydrogen or water vapour limits the ductility even more. The atomic arrangements in binary and alloyed variants are examined here and related to the difficulties of dislocation propagation at room and at high temperatures. In this way the influence of intrinsic structure and alloying modifications on mechanical behaviour can be understood. Possibilities for further improving properties through structure control are considered.

Nanoembryonic thermoelastic equilibrium and enhanced properties of defected pretransitional materials

Behaviors of displacive phase-transforming materials above the temperature of transformation,where abnormal thermal,elastic,magnetic properties are often observed,are mostly explained by intrinsic peculiarities in electronic/atomic ***,we show these properties may also be attributed to extrinsic effects caused by a thermoelastic equilibrium in highly defected pretransitional *** demonstrate that the stress concentration near stress-generating defects such as dislocations and coherent precipitates could result in the stress-induced transformation within nanoscale regions,producing equilibrium embryos of the product *** nanoembryos in thermoelastic equilibrium could anhysteretically change their equilibrium size in response to changes in applied stress or magnetic fields leading to superelasticity or *** response to cooling may explain the observed diffuse phase transformation,changes in the coefficient of thermal expansion and effective elastic modulus,which,in turn,may explain the invar and elinvar behaviors.

Identifying marsh dieback events from Landsat image series (1998–2018) with an Autoencoder in the NIWB estuary, South Carolina

This study reports an inventory of marsh dieback events from spatial and temporal perspectives in the North Inlet-Winyah Bay(NIWB)estuary,South Carolina(SC).Past studies in the Gulf/Atlantic coast states have reported acute marsh dieback events in which marsh rapidly browned and thinned,leaving stubble of dead stems or mudflat with damaged ecosystem *** marsh dieback in SC,however,have been *** study identified all marsh dieback events in the estuary since *** 20 annually collected Landsat images,the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI)series was extracted.A Stacked Denoising Autoencoder neural network was developed to identify the NDVI anomalies on the *** marsh dieback patches were extracted,and their inter-annual changes were *** showed a continuous,spatially variable multi-year dieback event in 1998–2005,which aligned with the reported dieback in the early 2000s from other *** identified patches mostly returned to normal within one year while the phenomenon reoccurred in other areas of the estuary during the prolonged dieback *** study presents the first attempt to explore long-term dieback dynamics in an estuary using satellite time *** provides valuable information in documenting marsh healthiness and environmental resilience on SC coasts.

CO_(2)reduction under simulated sunlight over photocatalysts has become an attractive researcher area *** this work,carbon nitride compounds modified by TiO_(2)nanoparticles(TNPs)have been used for the photoreduction of CO_(2)in the presence of CH_(4)at room ***,a series of noble-metal-free TNP-graphitic-carbon nitride(g-C_(3)N_(4),also abbreviated CN)photocatalysts with different TNPs loadings and calcination temperatures have been synthesized by a wet-chemical *** characterization results of XRD,FTIR,SEM,TEM,BET,XPS,CO_(2)Adsorption,UV-vis,and PL demonstrate that the BET surface area and CO_(2)adsorption capacity have been improved after the ***,the g-C_(3)N_(4)has been successfully coupled with the TNPs and a heterojunction has formed at their *** characters contribute to increase the photocatalytic activity of TNPs-CN toward reducing CO_(2)in the presence of CH_(4),and its'performance is better than bare g-C_(3)N_(4),Titania(P_(25))-CN,MgO-CN,or Cu_(2)*** experiments are then carried out to investigate the sensitivity factors and optimum *** sensitivity results show that the reaction pressure makes little difference on the photocatalysis results,which verifies the photoinduced CO_(2)-CH_(4)reaction has a tiny change in gas *** addition,under the optimum conditions,the turnover frequency(TOF)of CO after 4 h reaction can reach 9.98μmol g-cat.^(-1)h^(-1),and traces of ethane and ethylene have been detected during the *** addition,surface acetate and carbonaceous deposit are found on the(20)TNPs-CN/450 surface after continuous 24 h irradiation under the optimum conditions,which resulting in the inactivation of the ***,possible reaction mechanisms have been proposed based on the results.

Factors in fluencing farmers' participation in crop intensification program in Rwanda

The crop intensification program（CIP）was introduced in Rwanda in 2007 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Resources（MINAGRI）,Rwanda,as a solution to the land fragmentation,low use of agricultural inputs and low access to extension ***,due to the voluntary nature of farmers’participation and their reluctance to participate,this study aimed at assessing the factors that influence their *** were collected from 340 respondents through a household survey in Mayange and Rusarabuye *** statistics and binary logistic regression model were used to analyze the *** show that the factors that significantly influenced the farmers’participation in the CIP include gender,non-farm income,farmland size,farming experience,land acquisition means,market access,trust and agro-ecological *** fact,the non-farm income significantly increased the farmers’decisions to participate in the CIP（P〈0.001）as it eases the financial capital needed to invest in the CIP *** the land acquisition means,the farmers who inherited or bought the land positively and significantly participated in the CIP（P〈0.05）because they had the land tenure ***,the participation in the CIP was hindered by inadequate irrigation and mechanization facilities,lack of farmers’participation in the CIP planning process,inadequate extension services,inadequate agricultural inputs and inadequate post-harvest *** collaboration between farmers,local leaders,extension agents and agricultural service providers as well as the farmers’practical skills in irrigation and mechanization could enhance the participation to the ***,there is a need on the part of policymakers to empower farmers with adequate knowledge on better cropping practices and agricultural technologies through appropriate extension services and bottom-up based program.
