We report here the case of a young patient with metastatic clear-cell sarcoma of the kidney resistant to standard chemotherapy, and with complete response under sorafenib treatment. The remarkable response of her tumor to sorafenib led us to study sorafenib molecular targets in the metastatic tissue. Background: Biomarkers predicting response to anti-angiogenic tyrosine kinase inhibitors remain to be identified. Methods and Findings: In this paper, we studied the molecular targets of sorafenib in the lung metastasis of a kidney clear-cell sarcoma. In a patient with complete response under sorafenib treatment, we showed high VEGFR2 expression by tumor endothelial cells from the lung metastasis. Conclusion: The original mechanistic results that we obtained using immunostainings and quantitative RT-PCR on laser-microdissected tumor endothelial cells have a direct application in daily clinical practice: metastatic tumors with a large angiogenic component should be tested for VEGFRs expression to consider anti-angiogenic tyrosine kinase inhibitor treatments.

Using a system of cavity quantum electrodynamics(QED) we present two schemes for multipartite entanglement generation. In the first scheme, a three-level atom is interacting with three cavities successively. In the second one, two three-level atoms are interacted with a coherent optical cavity. These protocols allow us to generate the six classes of tripartite entanglement(GHZ, W, A-B-C, AB-C, C-AB, and B-AC class states) by controling the interaction time between atoms and cavities. Moreover, they allow us to generate entanglement between the cavity fields degrees of freedom(from the first scheme), and a mixed entanglement between the cavity field degrees of freedom and the atomic degrees of freedom.

Dear editor,Focal nodular hyperplasia(FNH)is the second most common benign hepatic lesion in *** is unknown and it is often diagnosed incidentally in women of childbearing *** disease has minimal risk of malignant degeneration or rupture.1 It is often asymptomatic although it may manifest as abdominal pain or a palpable mass when the diameter exceeds 10 cm.1–3 Despite the disease’s predilection for females,there’s no evidence that female hormones alter the course of FNH;several studies conducted on pregnant patients with FNH showed no modification in tumor size.

BACKGROUND Helicobacter pylori(***)is a significant human pathogen that is responsible for a variety of illnesses,including mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue lymphoma,gastric cancer,peptic ulcers,and *** To investigate the frequency of *** infection and its resistance patterns among Egyptian patients and to determine the influence of *** virulence genetic determinants on the eradication success of 14-d triple therapy *** *** infections were investigated in 72 patients with gastroduodenal complications suggestive of *** *** cagA and vacA genotypes of cultured strains were studied using polymerase chain *** patients underwent 14 d of triple-therapy *** treatment response was examined using histology and a rapid urease test 6 wk after therapy *** The intention-to-treat eradication rate was 59.2%(95%CI:48.2%-70.3%).Rates of *** resistance to clarithromycin,amoxicillin,and metronidazole were 52.8%,81.9%,and 100%,*** eradication of *** was more significantly associated with vacA s1-positive strains[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=0.507,95%CI:0.175-0.822].A significant association was found between failed eradication rate and *** strains resistant to clarithromycin(aOR=0.204,95%CI:-0.005 to 0.412)and amoxicillin(aOR=0.223,95%CI:0.026-0.537).CONCLUSION This study’s low *** eradication rate following 14-d triple therapy is concerning and *** pan-resistance to metronidazole followed by the high resistance to ciprofloxacin,amoxicillin,and clarithromycin in this research is challenging and of great concern.

Plummer-Vinson syndrome （PVS）, also known as Paterson-Kelly syndrome or sideropenic dysphagia1 is characterized by dysphagia, iron deficiency anemia and esophageal webs. This syndrome is known to be associated with an increased risk of hypopharyngeal and/or cervical esophageal cancer. Three to 15 percent of the patients with PVS, mostly women between 15 and 50 years of age, have been reported to develop esophageal or pharyngeal cancer. There is a decreasing trend in the overall incidence of hypopharyngeal cancer in women, probably due to the diminished prevalence of PVS. There are few reports of gastric cancer in association with PVS.2

Today, in the modern era, and under the pressure of rapid development around the kingdom regions, electric utilities are confronted with a myriad of challenges that include aging infrastructure, enhanced expectation of reliability, reduced cost, and coping effectively with uncertainties and changing regulation requirements. Indeed, for distribution systems, HV/MV substations represent a complex and critical physical asset that requires a careful evaluation of their maintenance practices aiming at more cost-effective tasks. The first concern of the electric power distribution company in Morocco is the optimization of the distribution network maintenance scheduling, to minimize system operating costs and ensure that the system is running most economically. There is significant pressure on power providers for greater system reliability and improvement of customer satisfaction, while similar emphasis is placed on cost reduction. These cost reductions focus on reducing operating and maintenance expenses, and minimizing investments in new plants and equipment. However, the present of the electricity distribution, influenced by a number of technical restrictions and strict regulatory requirements to meet, leads distribution utilities to search new ways of optimizing the maintenance management, make an effort to maximize profit by reducing their electricity supply and operation costs while maintaining their reliability, developing more effective activities, with lower costs. Furthermore, maximal HV/MV substation asset value and minimal maintenance cost are typical economic objectives of the electric utilities. The optimization of maintenance is one possible technique to reduce maintenance costs while improving reliability and utilities need to implement new strategies for more effective maintenance techniques and Asset Management (AM) methods programs to manage inspections and maintenance activities in order to control HV/MV substation equipment conditions.
