Owing to a predicted rise in temperature,increase in precipitation and the escalating anthropogenic stresses,the Himalayan ecosystems are the most threatened non-polar regions of the *** the past,there have been racing extinctions and range shifts of several life forms in this region,particularly of the plant ***,consistent qualitative and quantitative records on botanical baseline data on a regular basis are *** current communication attempts to provide a detailed account on the current state of knowledge and research gaps in floristic studies of Himachal Pradesh,Western *** on an extensive review of more than 140 studies in the form of scientific peer reviewed literature on floristics,medicinal and aromatic plants(MAPs),rare,endangered,threatened and endemic species and ethno-botany,it is revealed that the number of floristic studies in Himachal Pradesh have surged in the past years but studies pertaining to the lower plants remain ***,the remote valleys including micro-watersheds lying in the coldarid regions are relatively less studied in terms of available growing stock and population status of *** traditional ethno-botanical knowledge has been the major concern and,many threatened MAPs need to be accessed globally following IUCN ***,documentation of the conservation status of key MAPs,setting aside conservation areas around viable populations of threatened species,developing germplasm banks of the priority MAPs and monitoring the impacts of climate change has been suggested.

Co@C core–shell nanospheres highly dispersed on carbon supports were rationally designed to improve the microwave absorbing property of the composite material, and fabricated by one pot thermal decomposition and simple annealing process. The Co nanospheres were completely encapsulated with thin carbon shells, which can effectively prevent the oxidation of the Co surface. Additionally, the particle size of Co nanospheres were properly controlled to optimize the electromagnetic property of the composite material. As a result, the lightweight Co@C/C composites with the particle size of 20 nm exhibited much enhanced microwave absorption properties. The improved microwave absorption performance is attributed mainly to the enhanced isotropic ratio and impedance matching of magnetic composites via tuning the Co particle size. Therefore, the welldesigned core-shell Co@C composite structure will provide a new insight for the development of high performance microwave absorbers.

Outcome of patients with traumatic cranial nerve palsy admitted to a university hospital in Nepal

Background Cranial nerve palsy (CNP) is a common complication of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Despite a high incidence of TBI in Nepal (382 per 100,000), literature on the specific management and outcome of CNP is lacking. This study aimed to examine the outcomes of TBI patients involving single versus multiple *** A retrospective chart review of 170 consecutive TBI patients admitted to the tertiary neurosurgical center in Nepal between April 2020 and April 2022 was conducted. Demographic, clinical, and etiological characteristics; imaging findings; and management strategies were recorded, compared, and analyzed using descriptive statistics. The Glasgow Outcome Scale Extended (GOSE) was used to measure the outcomes in two groups of patients (single and multiple CNP) at 3 *** Out of 250 eligible patients, 80 were excluded and CNP was noted in 29 (17.1%) of the remaining 170. The median age was 34.9 years, and falls (60.6%) were the most common cause of trauma. TBI severity was categorized based on GCS: mild (82.4%), moderate (15.9%), and severe (1.8%). Cranial nerve involvement was seen in 29 (17.05%) patients: single cranial nerve involvement in 26 (89.65%) and multiple nerve involvement in 3 (10.34%). The most common isolated cranial nerve involved was the oculomotor nerve (37.9%). CT findings revealed a maximum of skull fractures with no significant association between CNP and CT *** CNP is a common consequence of TBI with the most common etiology being falls followed by RTA. Single CNP was more common than multiple CNP with no significant difference in the outcome in the 3-month GOSE score. Further research is needed to determine the burden of traumatic CNP and establish specific management guidelines for different types of CNP.

Experimental study on mitigating wind erosion of calcareous desert sand using spray method for microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation

Wind erosion is one of the significant natural calamities worldwide, which degrades around one-third of global land. The eroded and suspended soil particles in the environment may cause health hazards, *** and respiratory diseases, due to the presence of harmful contaminants, bacteria, and *** present study evaluates the feasibility of microbially induced calcium carbonate precipitation(MICP)technique to mitigate wind-induced erosion of calcareous desert sand(Thar desert of Rajasthan province in India). The temperature during biotreatment was kept at 36℃ to stimulate the average temperature of the Thar desert. The spray method was used for bioaugmentation of Sporosarcina(S.) pasteurii and further treatment using chemical solutions. The chemical solution of 0.25 pore volume was sprayed continuously up to 5 d, 10 d, 15 d, and 20 d, using two different concentration ratios of urea and calcium chloride dihydrate viz 2:1 and 1:1. The biotreated samples were subjected to erosion testing(in the wind tunnel) at different wind speeds of 10 m/s, 20 m/s, and 30 m/s. The unconfined compressive strength of the biocemented crust was measured using a pocket penetrometer. The variation in calcite precipitation and microstructure(including the presence of crystalline minerals) of untreated as well as biotreated sand samples were determined through calcimeter, scanning electron microscope(SEM), and energydispersive X-ray spectroscope(EDX). The results demonstrated that the erosion of untreated sand increases with an increase in wind speeds. When compared to untreated sand, a lower erosion was observed in all biocemented sand samples, irrespective of treatment condition and wind speed. It was observed that the sample treated with 1:1 cementation solution for up to 5 d, was found to effectively resist erosion at a wind speed of 10 m/s. The heavy metals present in the environment accumulate in the plants and affect their productivity and *** entering the food chain,metals cause several serious health problems in human beings as well as in other *** acetic acid(IAA)is known to act as a signaling molecule between symbiotic association of metal accumulating plants and plant growth promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR).Present study demonstrated a protective role of IAA against surplus Zinc(Zn)-induced toxicity to Hordeum vulgare *** Zn concentrations suppressed the plant growth,caused a reduction in leaf relative water contents(RWC)and elevated free proline and non-protein thiols(NPT)*** treatment also led to enhanced lipid peroxidation(MDA contents)as well as the activity of ascorbate peroxidase(APX),showing the involvement of antioxidative defense mechanism to reduce Zn induced *** oxidase activity was also observed to increase due to Zn *** pretreatment of *** caryopsis could partly revert the Zn-induced toxicity in seedlings.

Formal methods are the mathematically techniques and tools which are used at early stages of software development lifecycle processes. The utter need of using formal methods in safety critical system leads to accuracy, consistency and correctness in proposed system. In safety critical real time application, requirements should be unambiguous and very accurate which can be achieved by using mathematical theorems. There is utter need to focus on the requirement phase which is the most critical phase of SDLC. This paper focuses on the use of Z notation for incorporating the accuracy, consistency, and eliminates ambiguity in safety critical system: Road Traffic Management System as a case study. The syntax, semantics, type checking and domain checking are further verified by using Z/EVES: a Z notation type checker tool.
