Backgroun.: Urin.ry bladder dysfun.tion.is a major complication.of diabetes mellitus an. its mechan.sm has been.attributed to auton.mic an./or peripheral n.uropathy. Objectives: Evaluation.of diabetes mellitus an. n.uropathy effect on.the urin.ry bladder dyn.mics in.children.an. adolescen.s with Type 1 diabetes mellitus. Patien.s an. Methods: The study in.luded 80 children.an. adolescen.s with Type 1 diabetes for at least 5 years;60 patien.s were with man.festation. of auton.mic an./or peripheral n.uropathy an. 20 patien.s were free of either. We assessed both groups for presen.e of cystopathy by mean. of uroflowmetry an. cystometry. Results: All patien.s with diabetic n.uropathy had abn.rmal urodyn.mic test results of variable types an. degrees with bladder hypercomplian.e as the most frequen. abn.rmality. Other urodyn.mic abn.rmalities were foun. in.both diabetic patien.s’ groups with n. sign.fican. differen.e in.frequen.y. Con.lusion.: Diabetic n.uropathy might be stron.ly related to urodyn.mic abn.rmalities particularly the bladder hypercomplian.e. Some diabetic patien.s may have cystopathy in.absen.e of eviden. n.uropathy. This may be due to un.etected n.uropathy or diabetes in.uced myopathy of the detrusor muscle.

Backgroun.: Oxidative stress is con.idered to be in.olved in.the pathophysiology of all can.ers. Studies in.icated that the levels of oxidative stress markers in.reased in.breast can.er. Trace metals are essen.ial to n.rmal human.homeostasis. When.presen. in.an.abn.rmal expression. they con.ribute in.man. pathological processes. Some trace metals are claimed to be carcin.gen.c an. capable of in.ucin. a toxic effect through the formation.of free radicles an. actin. as cofactors in.the oxidative damage of biological macromolecules an. Dn.. Objective: Our aim was to in.estigate the serum levels of some trace elemen.s (Copper, Zin. an. Cadmium), the total oxidative an. an.i-oxidative capacity (TOC an. TAC) in.patien.s with breast can.er in.comparison.to patien.s with ben.gn.breast tumours. Patien.s an. Methods: The presen. study in.luded 65 females. The participates were divided in.o 2 main.groups: con.rol group which con.isted of 20 apparen.ly healthy female;the patien. groups which divided in.o 3 groups: group B in.luded 15 patien.s with ben.gn.breast tumours, group n.con.isted of 15 n.wly diagn.sed breast can.er patien.s an. group M in.luded 15 patien.s with metastatic breast can.er. Results: The mean.serum levels of Copper, Zin., an. Cadmium were sign.fican.ly higher in.the three patien.s groups (B, n.an. M) than.the con.rol group. Similarly, serum uric acid (UA) an. (TAC) levels showed sign.fican. higher level in.both breast can.er groups as compared to the ben.gn.group. However TOC levels showed on.y sign.fican.ly higher level in.metastatic group. Con.lusion.: The presen. study suggested elevated TAC, UA an. TOC in.breast can.er patien.s. The in.reased levels of trace elemen.s could lead to formation.of free radicals or other reactive oxygen.species. The serum profile of these trace metals may be helpful in.predictin. progn.sis of breast can.er.

The effects of fresh zucchin. on.n.trition.l status, an. biological in.icators for the preven.ion.of cardiovascular disease in.rats fed high-fat diets in.estigated in.this study. Thirty Sprague Dawley rats were ran.omly divided in.o two main.groups the first, n.gative con.rol group Co (-) (n.= 6), fed basal diet, The secon. group (n.= 24) fed high-fat diet (con.ain.n. basal diet + 5% tallow + 1% cholesterol + 0.02% bile salt). This group was divided in.o four subgroups each group 6 rats: group positive con.rol co (+) fed high-fat diet on.y, group 1 (G (1)) fed high-fat diet plus 10% zucchin., group 2 (G (2) fed high-fat diet plus 15% zucchin. an. group 3 (G (3)) fed high-fat diet plus 20% zucchin.. The levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), high-den.ity lipoprotein.cholesterol (HDL-C) an. low-den.ity lipoprotein.cholesterol (LDL-C) were measured after eight wk. of experimen.al treatmen.. The pathologic chan.es of the heart, spleen.an. kidn.y were evaluated. SPSS, on. way An.VA was used to an.lyze the results. The results in.icated that the mean.values of body weight gain.(BWG) an. feed efficien.y ratio (FIR) in.G (2) an. G (3) showed sign.fican. decrease compared to co (-), co (+) an. G 1. The results showed that in.groups (G1, G2 an. G3) the relative weight of heart had sign.fican. in.rease when.compared with con.rol n.gative group. But liver an. spleen.weight had n. sign.fican. differen.e when.compared with con.rol n.gative an. positive group, the levels of TC, TG an. LDL-C were sign.fican.ly in.reased in.co (+) (P n.high fat diet con.ain.n. differen. levels of zucchin. (10%, 15% an. 20%) had sign.fican. decrease in.TC an. LDL-C compared with co (+), also G2 an. An.iogen.sis has an.importan. role in.pathophysiology of can.er. FMS-like tyrosin. kin.se 3 (FLT3) is implicated in.hematopoietic malign.n.ies. Their role in.childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) pathogen.sis n.eds more en.ighten.en.. Expression.of vascular en.othelial growth factor receptor-1 an. -2 (VEGFR-1 an. -2), as well as FLT3 were assessed by flow cytometry in.bon. marrow (BM) blasts of 55 n.wly diagn.sed children.with ALL. Patien.s in.luded B cell ALL (B-ALL) group (n.= 41) an. T cell ALL (T-ALL) group (n.= 14). Comparison.between.groups revealed a sign.fican. in.rease in.blasts percen. (%) expressin. FLT3 an. FLT3 in.en.ity detected in.B-ALL group (p = 0.004 an. p = 0.02, respectively). In.B-ALL patien.s, a sign.fican. positive correlation.was seen.between.blasts % expressin. FLT3 an. blasts percen.age in.iltratin. BM (r = 0.405;p = 0.009), also positive correlation.was seen.between.% of blasts expressin. VEGFR-1 an. VEGFR-2 (r = 0.704;p 0.001). In.T-ALL group, blast % expressin. FLT3 revealed sign.fican. positive correlation. with blast % expressin. VEGFR-1, an. those expressin. VEGFR-2 (r = 0.627;p = 0.016, an. r = 0.654;p = 0.011, respectively). In.addition. sign.fican. correlation.was seen.in.blasts % expressin. all;FLT3, VEGFR-1 an. -2, with blasts % expressin. stem cell marker CD34 (r = 0.826;p = 0.001, r = 0.596;p = 0.041, an. r = 0.798;p = 0.002, respectively). Con.lusion. Expression.of VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2 an. FLT3 were demon.trated an. lin.ed on.leukemic blasts of ALL which highlights their role in.pathogen.sis. FLT3 expression.plays a role in.facilitatin. blasts proliferation.in.BM in.B-ALL. FLT3, VEGFR-1 an. -2 could be used in.future profilin. of CD34+ leukemic stem cell pool in.T-ALL.
