Functional Role of Neuropeptide Leucokininll in Growth Inhibition of Red Palm Weevil Rhynchophorus ferrugineus

Peptides are known to on act to discourage the growth of insects. In this perspective, authors studied the biological and physiological effects of LeucokininlI on the growth of Red Palm Weevil through adult insect feeding of the sugar cane treated with different concentrations （0.05%, 0. I%, 0.25%, 0.4%） and biological effects on the number of eggs, the percentage of hatching, the length of the generation and the proportion of deformation, Results showed that there is a significant reduction in the number of eggs laid by the insects as the average number of eggs/female 75.7, 63.5, 59.4, 55.1 egg for each of the concentrations, respectively, compared with the average 140.2 egg in the control group, and reduction of percentages of hatching in all treatment as 71.4%, 64.6%, 70% and 71.5% respectively, compared with 79.3% of the control group. The percentage of deformations in egg densities included 44.4%, 15.4%, 22.6%, 27.8% compared to the control group. The results showed that there are a number of large deformations in the resulting larvae for different treatments. The conclusion is drawn that this study using LeucokininlI confirmed inhibition growth and caused an imbalance in the development stages of different insects due to its effect on the hormones that control molting of insects. This conclusion is furthermore apparent in the larval stage, as it appeared that Leucokininll prevents the insect from completing its life cycle. Test results using LeucokininlI are encouraging, and its future potential use in reducing Red Palm Weevil deserves broader studies. If the spread of currently known that this LeucokininlI is without prejudice to the work of the hormonal system.

A Novel Stochastic Algorithm Using Pythagorean Means for Minimization

In this paper, A Novel Stochastic Algorithm using Pythagorean means for minimization of the objective function is described. The algorithm is initially tested with Rastrigin’s function and compared with Genetic algorithm results for the function with the same initial conditions. After this, it is used in tuning the gains of fuzzy PD + I controller for trajectory control of PUMA 560 robot manipulator. The results are again verified with the results of genetic algorithm.

Variation in the Colonization of Artificial Substrates by Mangrove Root Fouling Species of the Port Royal Mangrove Lagoons in the Eutrophic Kingston Harbour, Jamaica

The aim of this study was to investigate temporal changes in mangrove root fouling species settled on artificial substrates in the mangrove zone of the Port Royal lagoons and to determine the effect of stress as part of a larger project to determine appropriate indicators of eutrophication in mangrove lagoons. Five Perspex? panels were suspended in the prop root zone at five contrasting stations within the Port Royal mangroves and the fouling organisms were monitored fortnightly using underwater digital photography. Nine taxonomic categories of epibionts were recorded of which the most prevalent group was the ascidians. Barnacles and hydroids were initially found to have established on the artificial substrates at all stations but were quickly replaced by ascidians and bryozoans at most. Species composition was similar between all stations by the end of the study, however, the dominant taxa were different. Sheltered lagoons like Fort Rocky lagoon (north and south) had a clear dominance of non-shelled species (ascidians and polychaetes) by the end of the study, while molluscs- bivalves and barnacles dominated Hurricane Refuge lagoon. This station, deemed to be experiencing greatest stress due to exposure to the eutrophic Kingston Harbour, also had the greatest proportion of shelled taxa represented in the epibiont biomass at the end of the study. Differences in biomass and species composition of root fouling species can therefore be used to indicate water quality in the mangrove lagoons.

Predictors of anti-SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity:An Egyptian population-based study

Background:Population-based studies on the determinants of COVID-19 seroprevalence constitute a cornerstone in guiding appropriate preventive *** studies are scarce in Egypt,thus we conducted this study to explore risk factors for SARS-CoV-2 ***:This survey included 2919 participants from 10 Egyptian *** were tested for SARS-CoV-2 spike(S)and nucleocapsid(N)*** and multivariate analyses were performed to identify associated factors and predictors of seropositivity regarding sociodemographic factors,clinical data,and personal practices of participants.A subgroup analysis was performed to investigate the occupational risks of ***:Seropositivity was recorded in 1564 participants(53.6%).Independent predictors of seropositivity in-cluded non-smokers(aOR=1.817;95%CI:1.407-2.346,p=0.000),having blood group A(aOR=1.231;95%CI:1.016-1.493,p=0.034),a history of COVID-19 infection(aOR=2.997;95%CI:2.176-4.127,p=0.000),COVID-19 vaccination(aOR=4.349;95%CI:2.798-6.759,p=0.000),higher crowding index(aOR=1.229;95%CI:1.041-1.451,p=0.015),anosmia and/or ageusia(aOR=3.453;95%CI:2.661-4.481,p=0.000)and history of fever(aOR=1.269;95%CI:1.033-1.560,p=0.023).Healthcare worker and Obesity/overweight were additional significant predictors of seropositivity among the working participants(aOR=1.760;95%CI:1.301-2.381,p=0.000 and aOR=1.384;95%CI:1.059-1.808,p=0.019,respectively).Additional factors showing association with seropositivity in the univariate analysis were:female gender,age group(15-39 years),higher educational level(preparatory and above),lack of environmental disinfection and having roommates at the *** was a positive correlation between the titers of both *** was weakly corre-lated with anti-S titer,while anti-N was significantly correlated with the number of protective measures applied by the *** antibodies were significantly correlated with adult BMI,while both we

Many exciting terahertz imaging applications,such as non-destructive evaluation,biomedical diagnosis,and security screening,have been historically limited in practical usage due to the raster-scanning requirement of imaging systems,which impose very low imaging ***,recent advancements in terahertz imaging systems have greatly increased the imaging throughput and brought the promising potential of terahertz radiation from research laboratories closer to real-world ***,we review the development of terahertz imaging technologies from both hardware and computational imaging *** introduce and compare different types of hardware enabling frequency-domain and time-domain imaging using various thermal,photon,and field image sensor *** discuss how different imaging hardware and computational imaging algorithms provide opportunities for capturing time-of-flight,spectroscopic,phase,and intensity image data at high ***,the new prospects and challenges for the development of future high-throughput terahertz imaging systems are briefly introduced.

Preparation and Characterization of Poly(β-Amino Ester) Capsules for Slow Release of Bioactive Material

Network structures from poly(β-amino ester) (PAE) were synthesized for applying as drug delivery matrix via a simplified addition polymerization method. It can hold an active organic compound (drug) that has an effect as antitumor activity in order to control its release. PAE was prepared from piperazine and 1,4-butandiol diacrylate with different molar ratios. The active compound was mixed with the prepared polymer while warming for 15 minutes to obtain the capsule product. The resulting polymer structures and the surface morphology of the PAE capsules before and after encapsulation with the active drug were characterized by FT-IR and SEM, respectively. Swelling and degradation behavior of PAE were studied. The characterization showed that the obtained network structure of PAE depends on the molar ratio between the reactants. The optimum ratio of the reactants was found to be 1:1. Therefore, stable and white product as well as good holding capability for drug produced. The SEM studies illustrate good dispersion and holding properties of the drug into the network structure of the prepared polymer. In vitro, the release results of the drug from the PAE capsules indicated that the capsules were able to give sustained release of drug in DMF up to 10 days at 25°C.

Volume Preload versus Ephedrine Infusion for Prevention of Hypotension Due to Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Section

Background: Spinal anesthesia is used for 95% of planned cesarean sections in the United States. It provides a fast and profound sensory and motor block. However, hypotension is a very common complication of spinal anesthesia during cesarean section, causing significant morbidity and mortality. It could be associated with severe nausea, vomiting and even unconsciousness and pulmonary aspiration in the mother and for the baby, hypoxia, acidosis, and neurological injuries may result. Methodology: Fifty patients were randomly allocated into two groups. Group I (F group) patients received preloading with 15 ml/kg Ringer lactate before induction of spinal anesthesia, and group II (E group) patients received IV ephedrine (5 mg in 1st minute after spinal anesthesia and 5 mg in the 2nd minute and 1 mg every minute after that for 15 minutes). Results: A statistically significant difference in the incidence of hypotension between group F (48%) and group E (24%) was seen, (p-value 0.03). Regarding side effects, the incidence of nausea and vomiting was higher in the group F (20%) when compared to group E (12%), (p-value 0.23). Conclusions: We concluded that IV infusion of ephedrine after induction of spinal anesthesia was more effective than crystalloid preloading in a prevention of hypotension in parturient undergoing cesarean section and did so without causing significant tachycardia.

Misdiagnosis of Facial Nerve Palsy: A Case Report of Sporadic Vestibular Schwannomas (Non-NFM2) Causing Facial Nerve Palsy Be Misled by Bell’s Palsy in a Child

We report a case of a rare sporadic Vestibular Schwannoma of a 9-month-old girl who had a right-sided lower motor type facial nerve palsy. The patient was initially diagnosed with Bell’s palsy and received steroid treatment accordingly, two months later the patient’s condition deteriorated, and further evaluation of CT and MRI brain was conducted that showed a mass lesion in the posterior fossa causing compression on the facial nerve. Misdiagnosis of facial nerve paralysis is common among children due to multiple related etiologies and varying rates of incidence in comparison to adults. The authors hope to address this issue in this report. Background: Facial nerve paralysis has been a matter of concern for many researchers to understand its nature, causes and presentation according to different age groups. In adults, Bell’s palsy (BP), the idiopathic form of facial nerve paralysis, is more common compared to children where most cases are due to secondary etiologies. Therefore, pediatricians are in an important position to identify these patients early in order to launch the most effective diagnostic and treatment approaches.

Quantitative Changes in Protein and Cholesterol in Haemolymph of the Red Palm Weevil Rhynchophorus ferrugineus after Treatment Leucokininll

We estimated quantitative changes to the content of protein and cholesterol in the Haemolymph of adult Red Palm Weevil after being fed on sugar cane treatment with different concentrations of LeucokininlI. In males, 0.05% has recorded significant increase in total protein, then 0.25% concentration compeer control, while the maximum high of females 4.846 mg at 0.05% compeer control. The effect of leucokininlI on content of haemolymph cholesterol has shown result that 0.05% concentration and have a clear impact on cholesterol concentration for both sexes with an average reduction of 37.989 mg in males compeer with 120.123 for control, and 57.263 in females compeer with 96.087 mg for control.

Anti-inflammatory and Chemical Composition of Two Plants Family Asteraceae Growing in Saudi Arabia

The study was designed to investigate the anti-inflammatory and composition of essential oil of two plant family Asteraceae, Achillea fragrantissima and Lactuca serriola growing under dry desert condition. The anti-inflammatory effect of volatile oil extracted by hydrodistillation of plants was studied using carrageenan induced paw edema. Essential oil （100 mg/kg） and （200 mg/kg） were tested the two plant show high inhibition after 4 h, concentration （200 mg/kg） show high inhibition than （100 mg/kg） after 4 h. Sesqui sabinene hydrate, Azuline and u-Bisabolol are the main constituents of the volatile oil were investigated by capillary GC （gas chromatography） and GC-MS （gas chromatography-mass spectrometry）. The discussion shows the role of chemical compound azulene in inflammatory inhibition.
